We were a party of four and the shared plates were really more for two to share. The flatbread with short ribs was really good! The Steak Frites were tasteless. The chicken parmigiana rolls were terrible and we had to send them back. The rest of the food was OK.
The waiter was pleasant and removed the chicken parmigiana rolls from our bill and seemed genuinely concerned about our opinion and how they could be better. However, we had to ask several times for him to clear empty glasses and dishes (we had to stack them up!).
The restaurant is not very attractive - not much budget was put into the décor. However we were comfortable and could enjoy each others company.
The cost was pricey but the food and service and décor did not measure up.
First time we came here, and had a wonderful time. We ended up sitting inside since it was too hot outside. Had a great experience. The staff was very friendly, explained dishes we weren't familiar with, and took care of everyone in our group. Food was tasty, creative dishes with lots of flavor. Great wine list as well. Overall a great experience, we will be back!
Excellent food inside was a bit noisy but outside seating was great and our waitress Sophia was excellent and very knowledgeable. The shrimp risotto balls and bacon wrapped dates were my favorites but there wasn’t anything I wouldn’t order again. Next time I am in the area I will visit again
Tasty food, interesting cocktails and attentive cooks
Went for Mother’s Day brunch. Food was seasoned well but much of the food was cold and some of the meat was dry. Also, there was not as wide of a food selection as was advertised (missing breakfast potatoes etc). The food was set up in a separate room where you had to walk past the restrooms and kitchen entrance in a narrow hallway, often causing run-ins with staff. Service from the staff was good. Overall I was a bit disappointed with the cost versus value, for example brunch drinks were very pricey. Overall I wouldn’t recommend the brunch.
Mother's Day buffet was amazing and well organized. The prime rib eye roast at the meat station was incredible. I recommend Botanero for sure.
excellent food. only thing they have to work on is to serve paella in its real form.
David was awesome! Great food and very accommodating to our party!
I love this place! It's friendly and the food is great and there is a welcoming, happy energy about the place. i can hardly wait to go back!
I always enjoy my visit to Botanero. The staff is friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. The menu has a lot to choose from. Delicious food.
A lot of the dishes were cold. Great variety of items. If they could keep all dishes hot it would have been great.
Came for Easter Sunday, had a reservation at 11:45. Did not get seated until 12:12 (I was watching the time) this was due to two families that were enjoying their after brunch talk which is understandable. However one family consisted of two people who could have been seated better which would have allowed other larger parties to be seated. Once seated I felt like I had to pry out information on drinks from our server. Not sure if he was new or just didn't know what was going on. Most of the table got coffee and we had to all repeatedly ask for sugar and cream as well as for refills. Food was ok but cold, I didn't realize it would be buffet style which was a mistake on my part.
This was our first visit and we’ll definitely be back.
Servers/Bartenders were attentive and friendly but food left a lot to be desired. The chicken egg rolls were loaded with sauce and the meat from the steak frites was very tough.
We went for birthday lunch. Ate from the brunch menu. The seasonal sangria was light and delicious. The manchego grits were a delight. We each had an eggs Benedict - smoked salmon, crab cake. Both great.
Excellent food and drinks. There is a wide variety on the menu sure to satisfy everyone's liking.
We ordered 7 different tapas amongst 3 people and really enjoyed 6 of them. The only one that missed was the steak frite. Beef empanadas and caulilini tempora was excellent as was the flaming shrimp. Enjoyed the squash flatbread. Would definitely go back there again.
Best tapas in the Rockville-Bethesda area. Good wine selection. Plenty of parking nearby.
What an incredible Happy Hour spot. Will be coming here on Sundays!
Delicious food! Nice, clean and fun atmosphere! A great neighborhood find, for sure! Finally, fun food in the suburbs!
We went here for date night. All the food was great. Service was very attentive and helpful since it was our first time dining here. In fact everyone who worked there was pleasant and friendly. Their wine list was excellent. Very different. We definitely will be back.
As always, service was excellent. Servers are very friendly and responsive.
Food is so delicious. Wine selections are excellent.
It's such a great neighborhood gem amongst generic, cookie cutter food that all tastes the same.
Keep up the great service and food exellence
Still cute little restaurant. Quite noisy on a Thursday night )had a table in the middle of the room which did not help). Wine (EVOLET TEMPRANILLO 2013) was so so, better go with the Finca la mata (if available). Excellent food - but not authentic to what we know (owning a property in Andalucia since 1968). But we definitely will return here on a regular basis - staff is great!!
Very unique restaurant! We enjoyed a couple of mixed drinks that were exceptional. Menu was fill with interesting items and the smaller portion sizes were perfect. Service was outstanding. Environment was noisy, but interesting snd exciting! We will go again soon!
Delightful lunch of small plates-we took home leftovers! Great place for tapas and Spanish cuisine
Excellent service and delicious food. Thank you.
I brought some folks there for a business dinner. The food is really excellent...they were pleasantly surprised that there is food this good in Rockville
We love (LOVE!) Bota Nero, but I think this may have been an off night. The beet salad was sparse on arugula, the Brussels sprouts were really underdone. Hoping this was someone new in the kitchen... and that they will learn the ropes soon!
The food is always excellent. Staff is super friendly. Their flan is to die for!
One room is pretty noisy (it was packed though) but the other backroom was not at all. Food was excellent! Very nice variety and options that we really did not know where to start. The server helped us out though with her great recommendations. Will go there again to try more on the menu. The plates were perfectly portioned I think to where you feel like you had enough to know what it is all about, and have some more room left in your belly for the other items to taste, before you are too stuffed. Very good size wine menu, too.
I love the fact that they were thoughtful about noise level and space and made sure that they spent money on noise canceling decor
Botanero is a wonderful little restaurant except for the noise level. The food was very good with some exceptional items. The chicken skewers were excellent as were the beef empanadas. The lamb skewers and the falafel croquettes were very good. We really enjoyed the food. However, it was difficult to hold a conversation among four of us. Most of the time it was two and two.
Overall it was a good evening out and we will return but probably not on a Friday night at 6:45 PM
Even very good restaurants have an off day from time to time. March 13th was on of Botanero's. The chicken in the miso salad and the lamb in the ground lamb skewers were overdone. Fortunately the service was attentive, but not intrusive; and the list of wines by the glass was extensive, well chosen, and reasonably priced..
It is a great venue. Small and intimate and great food
Love Botanero’s small plates. Chi-cha martini is so good.
We loved everything and us our new spot!
Second time visiting and can't wait for our next! Hostess was unwelcoming but everything else exceeded expectations. Our waitress Alice (if I heard her correctly, it was a louder atmosphere) was a gem, we'll request her next time. Splurged for dessert this time and very happy we did!!
We had a reservation and we were seated right away. I was glad we were seated in the dining room toward the back of the restaurant because the other dining area with the bar was very loud and crowded. The service was great, staff was very friendly, the food was delicious and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Met two friends for lunch a bit before noon on a slightly snowy Friday. Ambiance was great with a quieter than usual noise level. Each of us got a two-plate lunch sampler and we all shared beet salad, bacon wrapped dates, flat bread, Brussels sprouts, calamari and empanadas . Food was very tasty, every dish perfectly prepared, and the service was prompt and attentive, giving us all the time we needed to talk. This is our “regular place” to meet and we have never been disappointed.
