Our brunch entrees were delicious - we had the smoked salmon eggs benedict and the shrimp and grits - both were excellent. I will go again if we are in the area.
Our server recommended a great wine. We had the artichoke and butternut squash flatbread, brussel sprouts & the scallops with risotto...everything was delicious!
Introduced two new people to BotaNero - they loved it! :)
A neighborhood gem! Delicious food, friendly service and lovely atmosphere. My husband and I are big fans.
fun wine bar with good food, tapas style. was fairly expensive, but would still go back.
This was our second trip to Botanero. The first was for lunch; this time for dinner. We shared six small plates: the oyster/spinach special, spinach and cheese empanadas, beef empanadas, chicken "egg roll" (which was the disappointment of the evening), the shortbread with beef, caramelized onions, & brie, and the bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese. The empanada fillings were good, but the crust is way too thick. The bacon on the wrapped dates was burned almost to a crisp and detracted form the flavor of the dish. On the plus side, there are interesting sauces that accompany the dishes. We did not opt for dessert. If we were wine drinkers and lived in suburban Maryland, I suspect we would visit here more often.
Going away dinner for my daughter. Just she and I. Attentive service. We always order the deviled eggs and bacon wrapped dates. Delicious. Duck confit, chicken skewers and fried brussel sprouts were all amazing. Finished wish a delicious tiramisu. Perfect send off.
This little restaurant is a gem! Everything was delicious and the service was pleasant as usual!
The Thai egg rolls were inedible. The menu said shredded chicken inside, but it was pure mush.
Enjoyed the ceviche, octopus, chicken kebabs had a nice flavor, but the tenderloin was used, I think, so they lacked the proper consistency of a true kebab.
Overall, we weren’t very impressed.
Will be back soon
The food was delicious and the service was great. Our favorite tapas were the scallops, dates wrapped with bacon and the Thai curry egg rolls. The Tempranillo wine our server recommended was on point, we ordered another bottle to go :). The only negative was the goat cheese nougat, it was too sweet paired with the charcuterie. Overall, we had a great time and looking forward to our next visit!
Valentines Day 2020. They had a special menu for two that was fantastic. Super service and great food. Makes for a great Valentines Day date.
Small plate concept. Food was good.
We came across this place in a search for restaurants in Rockville. It turned out to be very nice little bistro, with a varied food selection--something for everyone. Not noisy at all, which was much appreciated, given that you can barely hold a conversation in many restaurants now. Service was good, and it's in a location easily accessible from I-270, Rockville Pike, etc.
Outstanding food. We’ve never had anything we didn’t think was excellent. Great place, friendly and fun. Love the seasonal menu changes.
Service is excellent, atmosphere is small and cozy, “tavern like”, food is delish! We’ve only been there 2x and we had excellent experiences both times. Wish they had a few more salad type entrees and gluten free options. Everything was nice to share and made for an enjoyable evening.
We have been to Botanero twice and have greatly enjoyed both visits. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and pleasing to the eye. Our servers were friendly and helpful. When trying to determine what we wanted from the menu, we received welcomed recommendations that were spot on for our tastes. Speaking of tastes, the food is outstanding. We have tried probably 15 things from the menu and everything has been delicious. My favorites are the calamari, Brussels sprouts, beet salad, and the shrimp flatbread. The scallops are good too. If you’re a sangria drinker, the red sangria is excellent. I can’t wait for our next visit!
Went with a few friends for brunch and had a great time. All the food was delicious and the bottomless mimosas were kept full. We really enjoyed the brussel sprouts.
My potatoes weren't terribly warm and the service was pretty slow for the fact that only like 8 people were there. I will go again based on prior experience, not this one.
The larger dining area away from the bar is much less crowded and loud. Food was excellent and great prices. Service was a little slow but very nice server. We would definitely come back to try other items on menu.
We went for restaurant week. The service was a bit slow but they were busy. All the sides were good enough. When the main dish came I was surprised by how small the lamb chops were. Because of the size all I tasted was charred meat. My fiancee got a fish dish that was great. Additionally, the sangria had a strong brandy taste to it, I was not a fan. Overall the experience was good! However with so many other options to dine we will not likely be back.
Won’t be coming back. Food was undercooked and portions (for “entree” not tapas) was embarrassingly small.
Too noisy, out all the small plates 3-4 were good, in our opinion
The food was DELICIOUS 😋! I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was very good especially the empanadas! I will be going back!
GREAT AS ALWAYS!!!! Love this place.
The service was very attentive and the food was delicious for a rather unassuming suburban location. It could compete with trendier restaurants in DC, Bethesda, etc., but on street parking was easy and it was not terribly crowded or loud, even for a Saturday night. I'd call it a hidden gem.
New Year’s Day brunch with our visiting college freshman!!
Pj new year day brunch
Excellent service and great food. Good drinks too :).
I go here often and highly recommend this restaurant. The service and food are superb.
Consistently good food. Pleasant ambiance. Good service. Some of our favorites and the Beet Salad, Duck Confit, Squash and Artichoke Flatbread, Grilled Chicken Skewers. Dessert menu is very limited but has Creme Brulee which we like. One change we would like to see is filtered water instead of tap water, which at times is undrinkable. This includes ice in drinks.
Good food and great service. Took good care of our large party with a toddler. Staff was very attentive. Food came out quickly and was very tasty.
My second time there was mediocre at best. Food came out in reverse order with hard boiled eggs, salads and sides served last. Flaming shrimp was undercooked (I like sushi but not partially cooked shrimp). Chicken satay was strange. Only good thing to say was ceviche was good. There are many small plate restaurants in the area that are much better and know how to serve for a fun and memorable dinner. This is more like poor quality fast food served in a chaotic environment.
Back room was great!
Great place for a business lunch. The dishes were great for sharing and created a great ambiance and camaraderie among the people at the table.
Very welcome addition and alternative to La Tasca for tapas-seekers in Rockville. Good selections for both food and drinks, helpful and friendly servers, modern atmosphere.
Food was amazing. However we were the first party at the restaurant and they placed us at a table where everyone who came in had to bump against me the entire meal. They did not seem to understand that part of the experience needs to be the ability to enjoy dinner without every patron and take out order customer interrupting the meal
Had a great time celebrating my mother’s birthday. The flaming shrimp was well presented and delicious. As was the beef short rib flatbread, bacon wrapped dates, and beef empanadas. Portions are pretty small, and we had a party of 7, so future reference we should have ordered two of everything as every dish comes with enough for about 4 people.
Went to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Our table was in a quiet nook by a window. Food was great with lots of small plate choices. Close to home and a real gem!
