Unfortunately, the paella we ordered had extremely undercooked, crunchy rice. The tapas were alright, but extremely overpriced for the quality/flavor of the food. The ambiance was fine, nothing terribly fancy, and in order to find the bathroom, you had to go to the hotel next door and go through a trek downstairs to find it. I wish I had loved this, but what was supposed to be a fun date night for my birthday felt a bit disappointing. The service was great though, a very nice lady took care of us, and gave us a dessert to cover for the paella being undercooked!
BOTA is a wonderful place to get away in downtown San Francisco. The food is extremely well prepared and the staff are attentive and well prepared. If you get a high table you can sit near the open kitchen and watch them work. All the tapas were very good, and the main course Branzino was excellent
Our server, Michael was helpful ,friendly and charming. Mi Casa Tu Casa cocktail delicious. Each of our plates were presented with good pacing and we really liked everything. Standout dish--smoked oysters. Raw oysters, served in whirling smoke..what fun!
Very nice waiter; food was so-so and it's a real pity one can't order a single serving of paella.
The tapas were fine; the spanish style creme brulee was not a hit.
We loved the lamb chops and garlic shrimp, as well as the Brussels sprouts. The tomato salad and kale salad were less satisfactory. I’ll come back and have the things we like, but skipped the salad items.
Good waiter and ambience was nice. Very convenient to Curran, ACT and SF Playhouse..
Warm ambiance. Really good authentic food. The seafood paella was perfect. The shrimp was perfectly cooked. Great service.
We had paella and patatas bravas. Both were delicious. Our server was very informative and professional. She did the wine pairing that we really liked. The evening went great. Highly recommend.
we ate light for a pre theater lunch but the 3 things we had were wonderful: Spanish canellone, meatballs, patatas all from the tapas menu. Nice wine too. Excellent service. It's across the street from the Curran and ACT theaters and a much better alternative for pre or post theater dining than the nearby cafes. I'll stop by for the paella sometime as I trust it will be like that I had in Spain.
Very (very) expensive. Food was not good. Portions were ridiculously small compared to price. Will never go back.
Food was great. Out server Molly was fabulous with excellent suggestions. Meatballs, mussels and oysters were delicious. enjoyed the evening would go back again
You won't be sorry! Excellent and authentic. They even have rabbit paella! Not a long wine list, but almost exclusively Spanish, with Riojas featured prominently at a good value. A must try!
For the money, you didn't get nearly the good you should have. 4 small prawns for $16. The brussel sprouts were something my mom would make as a child and not something I'd order at a restaurant.
Very noisy! Food was fine, but hard to have a conversation, even at window seat.
Of 86 restaurants that we have eaten at and rated in San Francisco, this one got the lowest rating. The food was subpar and the five dishes that we ordered literally came out in 10 minutes all at the same time, making me think that maybe these had been microwaved. The food was not flavorful at all. We ordered the brussels sprouts, octopus, shrimp, and lamb – and none of the dishes stood out.
The staff were very attentive and the restaurant looks very nice, they need to really up their game in terms of food.
Great location. Great staff. The food is good.
Amazing rabbit paella! Very authentic. Small plates were small enough to enjoy multiples.
The lamb chop was fantastic. The chocolate dessert came with olive oil, which seemed a bit superfluous, but everything else was delicious.
This restaurant was very quiet with excellent service and the Tapas were exquisitely tasty and excellent in presentation. For vegetarians and meat lovers alike, the varied menu provided excellent and varied selections!!
Excellent in price too!!
Good location to meet friends - Bar service and selection was excellent, while Tapas menus fell a little flat with quality & short on value vs portions....
Good food, service and ambiance but the prices are outrageous for tapas. This place will probably fail. You can’t charge $15 for half a chicken breast...
