Excellent food with a wide variety of dishes. The service was good. Only downside was the very high noise level
Second time back and was disappointed. Paella was very over cooked.
I stumbled upon this restaurant on Open Table. I thought it was a different place that I had remembered but was pleasantly surprised once having been seated. The hostess was very helpful especially since I changed the number of people at least twice and then again once we were seated. We were all accommodated with good graces and a helping hand. Our server, Keith, was spectacular in every respect. From adding chairs and place settings, helping with tapas and paella choices, to great advice on the wine, he couldn't have nicer or more helpful. He's one of the reasons we would all comeback. The food was excellent as well, although I would have liked a little more chorizo in the surf & turf paella to spice it up a bit more. The portions were plentiful and I'm planing on getting back to taste more of the options on the menu.
We had a Mother’s Day lunch in this restaurant. Everyone enjoyed the foods and appreciated the service provided by the waitress. I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Delicious tapas, good wine, excellent and timely service. Right across the street from the Curran Theatre. Not noisy. Definitely go again.
The food was good but overpriced, and the service was indifferent. I had to ask again for my glass of wine, since my food arrived before it did.
Great food and service.
We had lunch on a Saturday, the place was not busy. Food was amazing. Strongly recommend the jamon and garlic prawns
Great restaurant with one of the best waiters I have had at any restaurant. Food was great as well as the wine. Only complaint would be the neighborhood. It’s basically TL which I try to avoid like the plague
Were able to order, eat, and pay in less than one hour (we were attending a show nearby). We enjoyed both cocktails, but the SpanishOldFashioned (orange liquor) was great! We shared a vegetable paella, and although not as crispy as we expected, very well-flavored. The olives (soaked olive oil, which was useful with the bread), fresh bread, and salad were very good. Not noisy. Comfortable chairs and a clean bathroom. Super convenient to the Curran and Marines theaters.
Seafood paella is a 6.5/10 when compared with other Spanish Restaurants
Garlic shrimp was best dish
Brussels sprouts were good
Chicken cannelloni and meatball dishes were too cheesy and rich
Servers were pleasant, friendly
Food was served in a timely fashion and was hot
This was our second visit
Restaurant is nice, convenient to theater but a bit overpriced for quality of food and ambience
We will return and order more carefully
Thanks for the vegan options!!!
Surprisingly quiet, but it was a Monday night. Great paella and tapas - we were very satisfied. Also had a pitcher of red sangria, which was also good.
Although we mentioned a birthday when we reserved and told our server Keith that we wanted a chocolate dessert as a surprise, it was forgotten.
The cheese plate was sparse compared to the price of $18. The vegetable paella was good
Bota Tapas & Paella provided a fun evening for our party of 4. Service was prompt and courteous. We had multiple small plates (Oh! The bacon wrapped dates!) and Surf N' Turf Paella (which was prepared exactly as it should be. I will happily return.
The paella was delicious and authentic. Regular size was perfect for 2-3. We really enjoyed the shishito peppers and brussel sprouts tapas. Nice experience far from home.
Nice selection of paella’s, but we just wanted tapas. The tapas selection was quite limited. We dined early to get to the theater. The restaurant was very empty and “dead”.
Perfect Pre-Show stop!
We were late but Bota was gracious and our server with a man bun was adorable, proficient, and got us out at our noted time despite our lateness. Will go again anytime I'm downtown!
ALL of the tapas were really wonderful.
Service was great with a lovely, friendly and helpful waitress.
BUT the paella was not so good: all seafood was perfectly cooked on it and the rice was flavorful..... but there was No Socarrat!!! a crime!
Great selection of tapas -fun plates to share. Good wine list by the glass.
The restaurant is lovely, and the location fantastic for going to the theater. Service was very friendly and attentive, and the food arrived quickly. We stayed with the tapas, not wanting a full paella meal. Choices were interesting and it was hard to decide. When the various dishes arrived, they was just all lacking in something; we wanted more interesting flavors. Seemed to lack a certain depth. We would go again, but with different expectations.
Nice small tapas restaurant with interested dishes. All dishes we tried were very tasty, especially the prunes wrapped in bacon. Tables are close to each other. Service was good and well-timed.
This is our second time here. Good Spanish wines. We like the squid ink paella. Oxtail and Iberico Especial also good.
Great food, probably some of the best Spanish food I’ve had outside Spain.
Great food, service & atmosphere
Superior service and excellent quality food in a clean and comfortable setting.
Perfect pre-theater dinner...not too heavy and delicious. Friendly service and quiet. Loved the white sangria!
Never had such bland food in my life. I have to believe that for every poor rating this restaurant fabricated a good one. The “cheese tray”. Could have been cut from and Safeway. We read a lot of reviews and I simply don’t believe them.
I love this place!! Although it is pricey, the food is so delicious that it keeps me coming back!!
I never eat squid but here... I devour that dish!! The papas are great; brussels sprouts are ok - they were too large and a little uncooked last time we went; meat paella is bomb; and the bacon wrapped dates make me wanna faint they’re so good.
Can’t wait to go back!!
Paella was dry but everything else was good
Food and service was excellent. Loved the paella and the salad. Great place for dinner before a show.
Despite our paella being served cold, the food was good and the overall experience good. Our server was attentive and pleasant.
Warm, caring staff. Consistently good results. Check our food bar for one person paella option.
The food was excellent and authentic. The smoked oysters were served in a glass container filled with smoke - quite a presentation. The patatas bravas were spicy and some of the best I’ve had in the US
I’ve been to Bota several times. This visit we had the grilled octopus and squid ink paella. The octopus is a big tentacle grilled to tender perfection, comes with potatoes cooked with onions and a dollop of lemony foam to give zest to the octopus. I can definitely see this as a quick meal with a glass of sangria. The squid ink paella with added prawns for a nominal price (because I needed something more than squid) came to the table steamy hot. The presentation made for a pretty picture with the squid tentacles, prawns and edible flower petals. The rice is perfectly cooked. The dessert of churros was just ok.
Our server worked a busy dining room and managed attentive service.
The paella is fabulous. Love the bacon-wrapped dates, potatoes, lamb chops.
We were there! A little late but we made our reservation- please accept our apologies for being late: we just finished work!
Nice place with good food and reasonable pricing for San Francisco circumstances.
Food was amazing! Everything was delicious. The octopus, paella, shrimp, brussel sprouts, head high wine...all great. Service was also wonderful. Entire staff was very nice.
Went for the vegetarian paella, which was pretty basic and bland.
