There was a meat, seafood or vegetarian paella for one offered for lunch and that was nice - but that's where the "nice" ended because the paella looked good but over-salted. I ordered an iced tea but it was so bad I had to send it back - it didn't even taste like iced tea and it was very opaque (as if it had milk in it - but it didn't have milk in it!) There were no other patrons in the place but the waiter rarely came to our table to see how we were doing, didn't offer a dessert menu (we never found out if there were desserts) and didn't offer to give us our bill even though our meal had been finished for quite a while. this place needs a lot of work!
Wow is there a deal for you. A Tapas appetizer, a single paella and a glass of wine for $30. Wife & I visited we had the place all to our selves for a 1:45pm reservations and I will say I was a little worried. However we had the potatoes brava & the mussels for our tapas, the potatoes were hot and tasty and the mussels did not miss. Wife had the seafood Paella which looked as good as it tasted, I had the meat Paella very tasty however not as good looking as the seafood dish, next time seafood for me. The wines were not the "house wines" while we did not get to pick there was a white & red options that were off the wine list. I would guess this place is busier for pre-theater dinners
Not busy at all. Got food very quick and it was delicious!
Paella portion (lunch) was very small and had hardly any veggies.
We (4) went here for brunch and we were all excited to have the avocado toast (being in the land of avocados) but the toast was actually two very small slices of a baguette with a very textureless (Costco?) ‘avocado spread’ on it. So at the very least don’t go for brunch and definitely don’t order the avocado toast!
Pretty good food, really kind service
Ordered GF items and orders came out with gluten. Unacceptable mistake when you specify that a person has Celiac disease. Ordered two things and never received. Very disappointed!
Nice food, especially paella is amazing. Friendly waiter, nice atmosphere, I like this restaurant. But the order of corse menu was wrong.. It’s disappointing.
We love the paella and sea bass the restaurant is small and noisy but food is excellent lil bet pricey too.
Good food great service and the the squid ink paella was excellent other dishes were good but not outstanding.
Food and service were great. It's one of the few restaurants in SF we've been to where we can actually hear each other talking without screaming.
Romantic and Cozy
Great service and quality paella. Don't pass up the patatas bravas or sleep on the bacon wrapped dates.
Paella was just not good. And other dishes were bland.
The decor and vibe were nice. We went there for a pre-theatre meal. The food was not up to the standard we expected or that the prices justified. The paella was pretty bland. We had to ask for salt, pepper and hot sauce to make it decent. The shishito peppers were okay but needed a dipping sauce or something with them. Disappointing - I would not go back again.
The food was outstanding and the sever was on point with the pairing of the wine and food after he heard what style we were looking to drink
Great place! Try the paella!
Nice and chill place. The tapas were ok, but compared to real Spanish tapas, still far from similar, in quality. We didn't had the specialty of the house (paellas), but had a ”tabla” of iberic ham (which was nothing compared to an actual pata Negra ballota ).
Overall, I was happy with the food and the vibe. We went on a Sunday at 4 pm. The service was OK. Did not get a warm greeting and server did not seem to know the bar menu. We also had food arriving, but no plates to share. That took time and the food was cooling. The wait staff was also not very attentive to the table and there were periods when we had to wait for service, water refills and the bill. The restaurant was not crowded and it seemed to close early on Sundays. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.
The food was great. We ordered the peppers, the tomato salad, potato bravas, meatball sandwich, veggie paella and meat paella.
Nice space with a good wine selection. The meats and cheeses were great, the paella was underwhelming, lacking in flavor, and overpriced for a dish that just wasn’t on point in any way. Service was meh. Overall the value didn’t even come close to the cost. The included 20+% gratuity for a party of 5 on top of it all just added to the disappointment.
Food was absolutely delicious!
The food was ok but not exceptional. The veggie paella was bland, the gazpacho was too garlicky. I was expecting it to be better given the reviews.
Food was quite bland and lacked the flavor one expects from a Spanish restaurant. The Poached Pear salad was forgettable and the seafood paella had burnt bits on the bottom that mixed unpleasantly. The wait staff was not particularly friendly or outgoing or accommodating (we asked if possible to replace mussels with something else and were told it would simply be left off). At $50/head not including drinks, you can find more memorable places.
Food was overall pretty good. Iberico ham and octopus were highlights. Service was Inattentive. Waitstaff has little or no opinion to offer when ordering. Food was set down on the table without explanation or even a word. Drinks were not out until half the food was served.
Although the food was not that great (prawns tasted like they been frozen, canneloni didn’t have much flavor) the dessert and white sangria were amazing! Would recommend for dessert and drinks, but not dinner.
Perfect tapas restaurant. Sizes of dishes perfect for sharing. Remember, these are tapas not full course servings. Didn't feel plates overly expensive. We ate here between theater shows and finished in plenty of time. Service good and attentive. Wine list a nice selection of Spanish wines that we knew. Highly recommend.
What a great find in union square! I will be back to try the rest of the menu!
the large paella could only feed 1 person, not 3-4pp as indicated on the menu for $60. We all left very hungry.
My meal was fine, but I was seated at the bar, overlooking the meal prep area. At one point, the cook plated bacon wrapped dates, and then went to set the plate in the ‘order up’ area, and two of the dates rolled off the plate, onto the counter top. Rather than throwing these away, she re-plated them with the others from that plate, and they were delivered to an unsuspecting patron.
Our waiter Storm was very attentive. He gave us really delicious recommendation from the menu. Food was excellent! Can’t wait to go back and try the paella!
Good restaurant great location yummy drinks. Meat Paella was good but not great, Brussels sprouts good, iberica suprema was very good.
On the evening I went to Bota with work colleagues the restaurant was full. We had made a reservation but when two colleagues joined us a bit later the staff were able to move us to a table big enough for us all. Great staff and great food - I will definitely try to go again if I go back to San Francisco and have no hesitation in recommending.
Been here before. Did not disappoint. We had tapas including bacon wrapped figs and grilled octopus rather than a paella dish.
I live in Spain and found the food quite authentic. The Padron peppers were a pleasant surprise as was the paella!
Excellent food. Very nice and friendly waiter. Only critique is that the Tapas dishes were served without serving utensils.
Great service, no frills
I don’t hear twice this week. The first time I had gone online to look at the menu and had seen that they had bacon wrapped dates which I love. Only to arrive to find a different lunch menu being served. Not a big deal I was able to adapt but the server was really weird when I asked about the beverage options for the express meal she gave some vague oh you choose them a good read or a good white couldn’t tell me what they were ended up just getting a beer but again she didn’t tell me which kind I’d be getting. Food came up fast hot and was delicious so I chalked it up to a one off. I made a reservation for Friday night at 9:15. I later realized I was going to make it and I changed it to the next time that I saw which was 945. I got a phone call a few minutes later telling me that their last seating is actually 930 and was actually going to make it. Well duh if I changed my time obviously I wanted to come. I need help making it in at 9:36 to the door we had to stand around for a few seconds until I was noticed by maybe the host maybe the manager not sure. I was seated and greeted my server was actually really friendly and explained the menu to me which I appreciated. I need up ordering and leaving within 30 minutes because I just felt as if I wasn’t wanted even though there were other tables that were obviously still in the restaurant and still dining even as I was leaving. I don’t think I’ll be coming back I just put off by both situations and even though the food is good it’s just not worth it. I work in the service industry and I’d never make people feel the way I was made to feel so well I’m sure that other people might feel differently and keep coming back.
Great food, slightly slow service given it wasn’t super busy when we arrived
Food is very mediocre.
Very good food especially the paella. Service was poor lost our ticket the first time and did not realize it until 20 min later to retake our order.
