Food was overall pretty good. Iberico ham and octopus were highlights. Service was Inattentive. Waitstaff has little or no opinion to offer when ordering. Food was set down on the table without explanation or even a word. Drinks were not out until half the food was served.
Although the food was not that great (prawns tasted like they been frozen, canneloni didn’t have much flavor) the dessert and white sangria were amazing! Would recommend for dessert and drinks, but not dinner.
Perfect tapas restaurant. Sizes of dishes perfect for sharing. Remember, these are tapas not full course servings. Didn't feel plates overly expensive. We ate here between theater shows and finished in plenty of time. Service good and attentive. Wine list a nice selection of Spanish wines that we knew. Highly recommend.
What a great find in union square! I will be back to try the rest of the menu!
the large paella could only feed 1 person, not 3-4pp as indicated on the menu for $60. We all left very hungry.
My meal was fine, but I was seated at the bar, overlooking the meal prep area. At one point, the cook plated bacon wrapped dates, and then went to set the plate in the ‘order up’ area, and two of the dates rolled off the plate, onto the counter top. Rather than throwing these away, she re-plated them with the others from that plate, and they were delivered to an unsuspecting patron.
Our waiter Storm was very attentive. He gave us really delicious recommendation from the menu. Food was excellent! Can’t wait to go back and try the paella!
Good restaurant great location yummy drinks. Meat Paella was good but not great, Brussels sprouts good, iberica suprema was very good.
On the evening I went to Bota with work colleagues the restaurant was full. We had made a reservation but when two colleagues joined us a bit later the staff were able to move us to a table big enough for us all. Great staff and great food - I will definitely try to go again if I go back to San Francisco and have no hesitation in recommending.
Been here before. Did not disappoint. We had tapas including bacon wrapped figs and grilled octopus rather than a paella dish.
I live in Spain and found the food quite authentic. The Padron peppers were a pleasant surprise as was the paella!
Excellent food. Very nice and friendly waiter. Only critique is that the Tapas dishes were served without serving utensils.
Great service, no frills
I don’t hear twice this week. The first time I had gone online to look at the menu and had seen that they had bacon wrapped dates which I love. Only to arrive to find a different lunch menu being served. Not a big deal I was able to adapt but the server was really weird when I asked about the beverage options for the express meal she gave some vague oh you choose them a good read or a good white couldn’t tell me what they were ended up just getting a beer but again she didn’t tell me which kind I’d be getting. Food came up fast hot and was delicious so I chalked it up to a one off. I made a reservation for Friday night at 9:15. I later realized I was going to make it and I changed it to the next time that I saw which was 945. I got a phone call a few minutes later telling me that their last seating is actually 930 and was actually going to make it. Well duh if I changed my time obviously I wanted to come. I need help making it in at 9:36 to the door we had to stand around for a few seconds until I was noticed by maybe the host maybe the manager not sure. I was seated and greeted my server was actually really friendly and explained the menu to me which I appreciated. I need up ordering and leaving within 30 minutes because I just felt as if I wasn’t wanted even though there were other tables that were obviously still in the restaurant and still dining even as I was leaving. I don’t think I’ll be coming back I just put off by both situations and even though the food is good it’s just not worth it. I work in the service industry and I’d never make people feel the way I was made to feel so well I’m sure that other people might feel differently and keep coming back.
Great food, slightly slow service given it wasn’t super busy when we arrived
Food is very mediocre.
Very good food especially the paella. Service was poor lost our ticket the first time and did not realize it until 20 min later to retake our order.
Tapas were excellent but pricy. Only negative was the Sangria...too much wine, too small a glass and way over priced at $14...Really?!
For dinner, 4 pieces/plate for Bacon Wrapped Dates & Garlic Prawns is a turn off! On another note, we opted for Breakfast On Us at Warwick. They’ve great selections.
Buen servicio.
My server was impeccable
Food was tasty and good BUT! The amount you pay is ridiculous. It’s 3 times what you would pay else where.
Sangria was tasty as well. 2 is one entree 2 tapas. $200.
Awesome food and great service
When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted and shown to our table. The restaurant had a very noticeable “fishy “ smell that was very unpleasant.
Food was average but the service was very good.
I appreciate Bota’s excellent food and considerate staff. The atmosphere was a refuge from the bustle of the street.
We ate at Bota twice because the first time was so wonderful. Each time we ate at the small "chef's table" bar and watched the chefs working... an amazing show!! The first day we had four tapas: prawns, mussels, pork, and Brussel sprouts, each excellent. The standout dish was the prawns, sizzling and swimming in hot garlicky oil, with toasted bread. Our second dinner was a seafood paella for two... it takes 40 minutes to cook but from our seats we could see every step... fantastic and delicious!
We visited in 2014 once, but it is changed as if different restaurant, and more noisy than before.
The small explanation on the menu is difficult to read. The rabbit paella as the last order we had is good in taste and volume (regular size).
We were a party of 4 coming for a light dinner. Bota tapas completely met our expectations - each dish was tasty and attractive, and arrived quickly.
Good food and service. Overall solid.
The food was yummy. My only issue was that I wished there were more veggie-based tapas...we had a vegetarian in our group and their options were limited. The potatoes plate was stellar, so I have confidence you guys can expand this part of your menu!! We ate the squid ink paella, yummy, but be prepared to have your teeth darken because the dish is saturated black in ink. We also ordered 8 tapas for four people and this filled us nicely. The raw oysters were superbly fresh. The tapas plates were big enough that each of us could taste everything. The cold tomato soup - excellent. Jamon with tomato paste, wow! We'll be back to try other paellas!
Great spot to eat in between parts of Harry Potter and The Cursed Child
We went for lunch on a Monday, the server was nice and attentive but he wasn't sure what the specials were and told us the daily paella was "meat" which is fair enough but I think a little more than a one word description would be nice. Another thing that we noticed is that the silverware was dirty which is unfortunate we just swapped it with a different set from a different table next to us.
The food was really good! we had the Tortilla, the Spanish sandwich, the patatas bravas and 3 glasses of the wine by the glass, the tempranillo and the albarino.
the restaurant is really pretty and welcoming, we'll definitely go back!
ps. I would add the lunch menu to the website but I understand lunch service is very new so it's probably in the works.
Great place for a business dinner.
Loved the paella and warmed olives!
Love this place! Just had tapas-the octopus was outstanding.
Delicious! Noise level was too much though. I had to strain to hear and had to shout during the meal.
Great small plates. Paella was good, not great.
