We enjoyed our dinner at Boston Chops. The food was good, especially the sticky toffee pudding dessert. My wife liked the cocktail she ordered, as well. We were disappointed that with all of the open seating, the hosts were determined to cram a couple into the small table next to us (one couple asked to move because it was so cramped). While the food was good, I generally have higher expectations when we eat at a more expensive place like Chops. I think we will choose elsewhere the next time we are looking for a pricey steakhouse.
I don't usually write a negative review but this is by far the worst steakhouse in Boston. Steak tasted absolutely terrible. Waitress rolled her eyes and was seemed very annoyed by simple questions that we needed to ask due to a dietary concern The restaurant was empty and the atmosphere was bland. Please save yourself the trouble and pick somewhere else to go.
We had an excellent meal at Boston Chops. My only complaint is that the beer & wine list was very pricey
Great food, great service, great cocktails. It’s fabulous inside too and unexpected as it looks nothing from the outside!
Great restaurant atmosphere, amazing food, great wine selection. outstanding hospitality especially if your server be Marya !!!
Had high expectations for this steakhouse and was highly disappointed. We had $75/steak dry aged NY strips and two sides. We also brought our son and ordered mac & cheese with a side of fries since they inexplicably had no kids menu. The steaks were disappointingly grisly for such a high price and the sides tasted like they poured a bottle of vinegar on them. Including 3 cocktails and a glass of wine we paid $300 + tip for this meal. Don’t waste your money go to Grill 23 or Ruth’s Chris down the street.
The worst steak in Boston .. over priced and salty .. almost had a stroke.. would like my money back
I made a reservation for dinner about two weeks in advance. I made a special request for a booth. When we arrived (on time) to be seated, we were brought to a table. I asked if we could have a booth. Then we were brought to one of those half booths, half table seatings that is shared with others that are dining. I LOATHE these types of seating options that seem to be popular in restaurants nowadays. We were less than 12 inches from another couple dining. We were able hear their entire conversation, plus watch them eat their entire dinner as if we were a part of their dining party. Plus we were seated too closely to a staircase that all servers were continually going up and down with food and dishes, very congested and NOISY! The dinner was good but expensive! For what we paid, I’d expect to have some privacy while dining, especially since there were PLENTY of available/empty/secluded booths.. BOOO!
Very nice ambiance! Loved the bank vault downstairs.
Service was impeccable and super attentive. Waitress and manager were very friendly and accommodating.
Food was excellent as well. Ordered the wagyu tomahawk special for 2 and it was very nicely presented. Great quality and flavor. Seafood appetizers were fresh fresh fresh!
All in all, great dining experience and a nice change from the standard steakhouse experiences of the “other” high end chains. Will visit again
This was our first time dining here. I specified on two separate occasions that this was a birthday dinner. There was not a card, candle, anything on the table to acknowledge the celebration. Other steak houses in the area make this a point to do so.
The service (our waitress) was great. The food on the other hand was subpar and disappointing to say the least. We ordered a ribeye and a filet both medium well... both were served rare. Back to the kitchen only to return medium rare. Back to the kitchen one final time only to return grey and completely unappealing.
The manager did apologize and actually said “I'm so sorry that we ruined your birthday”! We left and we will not be back. Very unfortunate.
Great steaks. Even a free birthday dessert for my son. He loved the Boston Pops popovers!
Great great restaurant with innovated cuisine, premier hospitality.
Great food and service. They remembered to bring a dessert for my husbands bday based off my reservation, thank you!
The food, service, atmosphere were stupendous!
Boston Chops far exceeded my expectations. I did not eat one thing that was short of incredible, the waitress was very sweet and attentive, and the restaurant was BEAUTIFUL — it was overall one of the best restaurants (if not the best) I’ve ever been to in Boston. 11/10!!
Great place, ambience is perfect and food makes it even better
When we were told that there would be an uncharge to change our regular salad to a caesar we were not expecting it to be $13 a salad. Every other restaurant means $1-$3 when they say uncharge. That was ridiculous! It should have been told to us that it was that ungodly amount!
Fries kept on coming and they were so hot I couldn't believe how they could serve them so hot and so fast
It's a beautiful classic steak house. The food was good, but nothing exceptional. If you like to be left alone then this service is for you. Our dinner came and no one even came by to see if everything was good or did we need anything else. Half way through we flagged them down so we could order a glass of wine. A simple pass by could have changed a bad experience into a good one. Unfortunate, but so simple.
Meow meow meow
Great food! Great friends! Great Location! Great time!
Beautiful decor. The food was delicious and the service awesome!
Always a pleasure to dine here and enjoy the atmosphere! Excellent service and the finest quality food and drink.
Great ambiance. Arugula salad was phenomenal and great pair for ribeye that was just okay for the price.
Food was delicious. Decor is very edgy. Would recommend to friends. Will definitely come back!
My first time here- stopped by for an early dinner before an event at the Opera House. Food was excellent- everything from the individual popovers in metal cups to the wagyu bavette to the eggplant rollatini side. My server was well-versed in the menu and the food runners all made sure everything was correct and as expected. It was s nice mix of formal but felt casual-feeling.
Very good ambiance. Good place for lunch or dinner. Decent menu.
Spent a week in Boston and this was high on the list of fine dining. Service, food and beverages were of high quality. Our server, Michaela, was terrific, despite a very busy evening. The filets were perfectly prepared and very tender. Somewhat pricey, but more reasonable than other fine dining places, and not disappointing in any facet.
Everything was excellent we will be back
My husband and I had an amazing time. Our server was wonderful and the food was fantastic. Our oysters still had some shell in them, which I was not thrilled about and my steak was charred on the outside. When paying so much for my food, I do have higher expectations. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience and our server was wonderful.
Michaela, our server, was fantastic! We have always had great experiences but she recommended new plates and was accommodating of our “preferences.”
Great dinner, our waiter was very knowledgeable.
Outstanding food, top-notch service, beautiful setting. The best thing to happen to Downtown Crossing in quite a while!
We had the porterhouse for two. Cooked exactly right, amazing flavor. Along with killer onion rings (get the half order for 2) and the spicy broccoli was unique and a great compliment. Awesome service as well. We will be back again!
Everything fantastic, but children in a restaurant after 6.30 running amock while your dining is not pleasent
Delicious steak dinners in the heart of the Theater District! We live in the area and this place has become our go to. Good food, great service in a comfortable setting. All of the food we have tried is very good. We especially appreciate the 6 steak frites dinners they offer. The salad, steak, fries in reasonable portions keeps us coming back.
No better place downtown. Service, food, and drinks were all outstanding.
Beautiful interior and great high top tables were a great way to start. Tasty popover even better. THen the steak came. Very expensive, and the worst expensive steak i have ever tasted. I now know where the expression “tough as a nickel steak” came from. My son’s was the same. Too bad because this would be a great addition to the burgeoning downtown crossing restaurant scene
