Outstanding service and the food was so good. We had a big party and everything was perfect.
Good food/service as always.
Excellent meal very enjoyable
Great menu options from fios gras, oysters to tuna to sea bass to dry aged steaks with choice of sauces. 2nd time we had a great meal here before a show at the opera house. Waitress was great and times dinner perfectly so we could make the show.
Good choices of food. Nice server. Nice venue
First of all, the restaurant is beautiful inside! I ordered the steak frites with the Wagyu bavette and my girlfriend ordered the fried chicken. Both were wonderful. After hearing the waiter at the table next to us, offer specials and half orders of homemade pasta Bolognese, we had to try it. We weren’t disappointed! We finished our meal by sharing the sticky toffee pudding w/rum raisin ice cream. Unbelievable!!!! So the only issue was, our waitress. She was pleasant enough but not forthcoming at all with any info about specials or anything on the menu!! Luckily for us, the waiter at the next table was great!! We will return and we will tell our friends.
Very mediocre lunch. Long wait for a steak. Not horrible just not great.
Excellent with 2 exceptions—sides were a bit too salty, and the music was tad to loud.
The food was good. But didn't like the following...I wasn't extremely hungry for eating alot earlier and wanted to split 3 course meal with my date. The waiter needed to go "check with the chef" if that was okay...about 5 minutes later we were asked by the manager if everything was okay and said "we were just waiting on the waiter to determine what was going on". He informed us that we can't share. After this uncomfortable moment, we stayed and my date got the fish, and I got the filet mignon. Again, stressing the quality of the food was great, and have eaten at this establishment many times, but we decided to stay. When the meal was brought out, I split my steak with her fish (after we had 2 meals) and the waiter condescendingly came over and was like "i can give you a plate if you want to share". Very disappointed on how it was handled and as a customer made me very embarrassed. Not sure I want to return ever again due to this.
Consistently outstanding meals and service. Always a good time.
Delicious food & unbelievable drinks! Best martini around! However, took about 40mins to get our first round of drinks. It was NYE but bar should have been better staffed. Would definitely go again & recommend!
The food was outstanding & our server (Mykala) was phenomenal! Special thank you to the manager who accommodated our request to wait for a booth on a very busy New Year’s Eve.
We loved the food and atmosphere. The service was also great. I have already recommended Boston Chops to friends and family. Loved it.
Service was amazing ! Waitress was very personable and helpful. We ordered the onion rings as an appetizer and they were amazing ! Very quiet and relaxing environment! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
There was a reason to choose Boston Chops to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Hostess was very professional, welcoming; gave us total information about the space. Oscar did a good job but nothing amazing. The crab cake was nicely done with avocado purée. Wagyu Bavette and Filet Mignon both served with Baby Arugula Salad and French Fries; unfortunately the Baby Arugula just went straight to a total waste since it was loaded with tons of salt. Warm Chocolate Cake was very good but could have been better if there was a small candle to mark my wife’s birthday which I mentioned in the reservation, sadly my note was neglected !!
Boston Chops - Downtown Crossing is amazing! Beautiful restaurant, amazing service and excellent food. The variety of options are phenomenal - from dry-aged steaks to vegetarian options and everything in between. The staff is all excellent, but I must make a shout out for Jose as he is exceptional!
We asked to be moved to a bigger table because it was pretty crammed for 4 people, but they said they could not accommodate us. The booths we sat near were reserved for people that weren’t even there yet. I get that’s how it goes with busy upscale restaurants, but it was a little disappointing nevertheless.
Also, the costs of the steak did not match their quality/taste in my opinion. The specials we ordered were super pricey and just weren’t THAT good. Also the sides were very small.
On the other hand, our server Jose was tremendous. Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. He even comped us a free dessert because of one minor slip up by the kitchen. And the restaurant is very upbeat and lively, which we enjoyed.
But in my opinion, if you’re going to be spending this kind of money, you’re better off getting the best steak your money can buy at the capital grill.
But if you want the best steak around, I’d prefer to go to the Capital Grill.
Fantastic way to spend our Christmas Eve. Service, Food and atmosphere were all wonderful.
Does not disappoint. Definite repeat customer. Others don't compare in overall quality.
We have been searching for a replacement for Grill 23, since the service at G23 has become perfunctory. Had high hopes for Boston Chops, but this is not it. I start with the positives: warm popovers are light and a perfect foil for excellent butter. Cocktail service is also excellent (my SO especially enjoyed a classic martini). Oxtail fritters and bone marrow are well executed. Among our mains the Wagyu bavette was perfectly prepared and flavorful. Frittes are excellent, and served hot from a copper bowl by a roving waiter whenever a batch comes off the fryer (why are they not served this way everywhere??). Service overall from the waitstaff (note the qualification) was warm and efficient.
On the downside, the ribeye was a disappointing miss. My SOs was overcooked (easy to do because it is a long, thin cut, <1/2 inch thick). Oddly my daughter had the same and hers was cooked properly. The real downfall was the ribeye distinctly lacked flavor. Sides other than frittes were just fair.
We arrived 5:30 PM Christmas Eve just after the Nutcracker performance to a room less than half full. We asked for one of the large booths, but were told that they were reserved for larger parties, and the three of us were ushered to a two-top banquette. The small table presented challenges all evening long, and was borderline silly as we tried to juggle the bone marrow and croquettes along with small plates, popovers and cocktails. When we departed just before 8 PM two of the large booths remained unoccupied, and had been empty the entire time we were there.
Our search continues...
Great food and atmosphere. Fun drinks. Gorgeous building. Consistently delicious!
This was our first visit to Boston Chops in the DXC location and it was AMAZING. We had a great table, awesome server (Jose!), and the cocktails, wine list and food were all outstanding. More than anything, we felt like valued guests - the attention to detail and extra touches over the course of our dinner made it a special night out. The atmosphere was fun but intimate and the martinis were perfect.
Holiday dinner with friends
Each year when we stay in Boston for the Pops, we dine at 1 steak house and Mistral. This year Boston Chops on Temple Street was the choice. Past years have included Capitol Grill, Abe and Louis, Smith and Wollensky, Ruth’s Chris and Mooo.
The menu was well presented and had a variety of choices for steak lovers and non-steak lovers alike. For appetizers we had foie gras and steak tartar. Presentation was beautiful and the flaors delicious. Main courses were 14oz bone in filet medium rare. Steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection sides were spinach and wild mushrooms, both equally delicious. We passed on dessert as by then we were quite full.
Several things that stood out were the attentiveness of the wait staff, being brought to our table immediately without the mayhem of the huge steakhouses like Capital Grill, and the ability to actually have a conversation over dinner. Couple this with great food and it was a memorable and wonderful evening.
Waited over 20 minutes for a server to come over. We contemplated just getting up and leaving. No apologizes. Service as a whole was meh after we were finally attended to. Food was average at best. This used to be our favorite steakhouse in Boston but sadly we won’t be going back.
My girlfriends and I met at Boston chops for a pre-Nutcracker dinner. It was great! We had made a reservation and even though a couple of us were running a few minutes late, they still sat us and let us know what meals wouldn’t be ready in time for the show. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Food was delicious! Everyone liked their meals. I got the fried chicken plate and it the perfect amount of food!
Efficient service, steak cooked perfectly but why the loud music? It’s unnecessary to have blaring music at noon , management should listen to the guest rather enforce their preference.
They did not have our drink on the menu and the bartender and waitress did a great job getting as close to it as they could. It was our date night and the staff handled everything perfectly. Food was fantastic
We love Boston Chops! This is our favorite date night spot - the food is freaking incredible, the service is great and the restaurant itself is beautiful. We’re psyched to go here for the New Years Eve pre-fixe menu!
Boston Chops is the perfect place to bring a date, friends, or family if you want an INCREDIBLE steak dinner. Everything is cooked to perfection, staff is incredibly accommodating and hospitable. It’s just an all around great place to have a great dinner. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND
My friend found a hair in his soup. Both of our soups were comped, so it was fine. The meat was lower by one as far as temp. For instance, I wanted my steak medium rare came back rare. My friend wanted medium well, and it was more on the medium side. Flavor was good. Service was excellent.
We reserved Boston Chops for a family celebration of seven people. Birthdays, anniversaries. The restaurant was not busy but the service was slower than expected. The portions were smaller than most steakhouses we frequent. There was nothing special for the event other than 3 candles and an after dinner drink. Two of the four adults do not drink. Lastly my husband was not brought his dessert. Maybe an off evening for the restaurant but the portions were decidedly small.
Sides for main course were cold and steak not cooked properly (steak rare instead of med well) as we asked.
Always has been great in the past
One of my favorite steakhouses in the city due to their fascinating options like the cheeks, tongue, heart, oxtail, etc they offer which is fairly unique in an otherwise commercialized steakhouse industry in the Boston area! Definitely would recommend checking out!
Boston chops is our go to place whenever we go to a show , event or shopping trip in Boston . Food , service and ambience all top notch !
South end location is definitely way better. It could be also because it’s lunch and the chef wasn’t the same and no effort was made.
way too loud! Our server suggested that the ownership was looking for this type of "vibe." Frankly, I was hoping for the more traditional atmosphere of a Grille 23. We had a small office Christmas party of 10 people and it was impossible to have any type of conversation
Great. I don’t want to write a longer description even though you do.
Had an excellent meal here on Thanksgiving day. My husband had the short ribs and I had the bone tenderloin. Both were delicious. We started with an Equatorial Iceberg. Great take on a wedge salad. The toffee pudding was phenomenal.
