Borough Ratings and Reviews
Our server Zaq was great! It was our Anniversary and our first night out in a long time since we have a 2 year old. He took really good care of us and started the dinner off with a little surprise for our anniversary. The food quality was wonderful and the portions were just right. I did feel like the salt cod was pretty bland so I would try something different next time for the second course. My husband loved the tartar, octopus and the Smore dessert. Overall a wonderful night out for some first time guests!
Stopped in for brunch. Found ala carte menu of breakfast type items. Food came out slightly warm not hot. Flavors just weren’t present. Everything we ordered was like this except fot the side of hash browns. They were in a puddle of grease on a plate. Obviously not drained of grease from griddle.would not visit again or recommend to anyone
I would be more inclined to recommend this restaurant if you are in a party of 3 or more. The seating for 2 is terrible, unless you don't mind sitting extremely close to neighbors and hearing their conversations. The tables are so close that the server is forced to turn sideways and shuffle step in between them. Other than that, the food was outstanding (a little overpriced) and the service was good. The seating just completely ruined the experience for us.
Borough has become one of our favorite restaurants - for both dinner and Sunday brunch. The dishes are unique, beautiful, delicious and prepared with the utmost care. Even things I'm not sure I'd like, end up being fabulous. Haven't yet found something I didn't like. My husband and I like to order a variety of small plates and share them. Borough is perfect for this. Highly recommend it.
We went to celebrate our anniversary, the service was fine, nothing special. The menu was limited but the food was good except the desert which was very disappointing. Probably will not go there for a special occasion again since there was no acknowledgement.
The specialty drinks are terrific. Each course of the meal was a delight. The beef tartare was sublime, the quail was tender and the pilaf it rested on was a complex mix of flavors all in perfect harmony. The highlight was the lamb meatballs; they were incredible. The entrees we had, the beef and the scallops, were wonderfully prepared. The meals are expensive but for a special occasion the food is fantastic. A slight complaint: the lighting is very dim.
Casual but classy North Loop spot, quiet but not stuffy so great for conversation. Food was amazing. Octopus was unique and tasty and fun. Squash soup was a thing of wonder it was so good. Love the atmosphere, love the food. Staff was terrific as well. A great place for a not-too-stuffy but still classy and hip dinner out.
Food was Awesome. Service was on point. Beautiful urban rustic vibe. My only negative about this place is the seating. They had separate tables, but 1/2 the place was long bench/booth style on one side and a chair on the other. I hate this style, cause they always seat someone right next to you.. I feel like we are sitting at the same table- and the conversation is no longer private. It's like our table for 2 just went to a table of 4 and I don't know the other two dinner guests. I like more private seating options.
Went for an anniversary dinner and requested a two top that wouldn't be feel terribly crowded. They happily accommodated that request and we got a table in the corner with windows on 2/4 sides. We had the beef tartare, lamb meatballs, brussel sprouts, and beef entree. All of them were amazing, with the beef tartare probably standing out the most. The ambiance was great for a date, but not too dark.
Great service, there before we needed anything, authentically friendly, food arrived at the perfect times.
Can't recommend it enough, the only negative was the price tag, but that shouldn't scare you away.
Nice to try a new restaurant and have a great experience. Enjoyed the variety of brunch items. Service was very good and prices reasonable. Especially liked that they support Second Harvest Heartland with food for the hungry when you purchase a glass of wine from their selected list.
