Really nice space with a small but diverse brunch menu. I had the simple breakfast and a giant sticky bun - it was indeed giant! Everyone working there was very polite and helpful, will definitely be back.
The food was great and so were the drinks! Love this place!
It makes no sense that you can’t order the burger in the main dining room. We went specifically to get the burger and had to find this out midway through our cocktails that we couldn’t order it at our table so we had to close out our bill and move over to the bar area to have dinner. What a ridiculous policy. They should put the burger on the main menu and couple it with fries and charge $25, I don’t care, just make it available everywhere- it’s what people want. After we moved tables the bar completely understood why we did that and said it happens 5 to 6 times a night. I think that’s enough data points to make the decision to put the burger on the main menu. We felt bad for our server in the main dining room and over tipped her for the inconvenience of moving tables and she completely understood and again, said it happens all the time and that it’s really frustrating. We really like the food but it looks like we won’t be eating in the dining room again if we can’t get the full menu everywhere in the restaurant.
The food and service was amazing. Every single dish was fabulous. The lamb meatballs were some of the most tender, moist, incredible that I’ve ever had. The scallops and risotto were delicious. Everything was wonderful - thank you!
Was taken to Borough for my birthday. Staff was great. Very attentive, friendly, and helpful. Food tasted great, and the dishes are creative. Perfect atmosphere for dinner for two. This was my second visit and I both were excellent meals.
My only criticism - and it’s not really that much of a criticism- is the menu is limited. I easily found something I wanted, but the entrees are basically one beef, one chicken, one pork, etc.selection.
The waitress was knowledgeable and made appropriate suggestions based on our tastes. The beef and scallops were fantastic.
Tess and Ben were so lovely and made our experience even better. The PreFixe menu was so amazing. I’ve never had a bad experience at Borough
I am sorry to say but from the first through the last bite we were very disappointed and honestly thought about leaving before the venison was served. We are very upset we spent over $200 on such a poor meal. The service was terrible and what surprised me most of all is that no one questioned why so much food was being left on our plates when they were clearing the table for the next course. My Christmas wish would be to get at least 1/2 of my money back because I honestly feel I was robbed of over $200.
I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant on virtually all levels. The service was terrible—our wine choices came after we had finished the meal. (The young busboy assigned to us refilled our water glasses frequently, however.) My guests enjoyed their food choices, thank goodness, or they at least didn’t tell me differently. I did not. The mushroom soup was some of the worst I’ve ever eaten. The noise level was so high, we could hardly hear each other. I don’t mind paying a lot for good food, attentive service, and nice ambiance. I feel the opposite when, as in this case, none of those requirements are met. Go elsewhere is my advice!
Excellent night. Loved our waitress and food choices. Ambience was lovely and course timing perfect to allow us to enjoy a special evening with family.
With some exceptions, overworked dishes with flavors that did not pair well. Lots of editing needed. So much potential at this restaurant, though--I hope they can come up with the right combo of innovation and good taste, because the will is there.
Had an excellent experience at Borough—phenomenal service, creative menu. Highly recommend.
Went out for birthdays. The mushroom soup was fabulous and the scallops over red wine risotto were perfect. Unlike it's neighbor, Bar LaGrassa, this place is quiet enough to have conversation. We will definitely go back.
Annual year in review lunch with my best friend, DA
Excellent food. The service was not equal to the type of dinning experience.
Exceptional service! Phenomenal flavors!
Our first experience here and it was a lovely brunch. Good food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back !
The service stood out more than anything, I'd say it was the best service I can ever remember. The food was really good, and we went down to Parlour afterwards for a couple of cocktails. What we learned is that the vibe at Parlour was more our speed, but the food and drinks are different than Borough, where neither is a perfect fit for us. We each ordered a different cocktail and we felt that either we got the other's cocktail or their descriptions are not clear enough.
Very nice good food
The lower rating on the food is because both the brandade and the Scallops we ordered were over-salted. The food is creative and excellent, sans the salt.
Great food and great service! We had the table at the end of the bar and it was perfect for our group. Will definitely be back!
Went for a date with my wife. The tables for couples were ~2 ft from each other and the couple next to us were loud and obnoxious. I ordered the chicken and it was tiny (most wings are larger than the leg and thigh here). My wife had the scallops and said they were extremely salty. The bill with a couple of drinks each was over $170. We love going downstairs to Parlour, but will not be returning to Borough.
We had so much fun here! The Manhattan was delicious; Beet Pate and Lamb appetizers were very good and flavorful; we all had different entrees (they were all wonderful). I had the scallops, which were very good. Our server (Tess) was very attentive and everything was served at the right temperature. This place is a gem. The atmosphere was fun and festive. We were able to converse with no problem, yet there was good energy.
We had a group lunch. Large groups, we were 10, are always a little more difficult to service. Our server was great, good timing of meal and water glasses were never empty. Food was really good . I had the catfish sandwich and really enjoyed it. We had a group order of the fry’s, keep those away from me, way to good.
Great food and cocktails!
Delicious food - plus interesting & fun choices. Yum! Lovely evening.
Excellent 3 course meal. Artistic presentations, decent whiskey list, tasty food and good wait staff.
Was there for an 8 reservation. Ordered 2 starters and 1 entree. Our server was amazing. She explained the menu very was. Was attentive and made sure we were happy. Starters were great. Especially the tartare. Entree was very salty (scallops). We talked to the server about it and they helped make it less salty. When it came to dessert they more than made up for the salty entree. We had a apple dessert with a blue cheese ice cream. They also gave us a small taste of port to enhance the apples. It was amazing. They also threw in the sorbet assortment which was great. Who knew Jerusalem artichokes went so well with pineapple and strawberries? Overall great experience. Will go back.
After a reservation snafu on my part for an important business meeting, the hostess was able to fit us in at the correct time. She was lovely. Food was delicious and food was inventive and tasty. Our business guest was impressed!
Server was outstanding. Food was very tasty but portions were very small.
Catching up with an old friend over the best meal either of us have had in a long time. The service was impeccable. Tess was as amazing as our food. Well done, team Borough!
My colleagues and I think this is the best burger and fries in Minneapolis for lunch!!
Their menu wasn’t vegan friendly but they made great alterations to create options that worked for person who was vegan.
Prices were a bit high for a simple lunch. Burger was good, but pretty naked with no offered sauce, fries---only pickles on the side; no other condiments offered with the that price tag. For a business lunch; it took a long time just to find nearby parking. Wait staff was very attentive.
Food's always great here. Interesting combinations, great flavors, well prepared. Our server was "good", but something was going on. Timing was really off. Took us a while before she showed up the first time and was surprised we didn't yet have water - got that to us right away, so I thought "good recovery, rest of meal should be better". Nope. Each drink order took a while. We ordered 'Firsts', which came quickly. We then ordered a "second" and entrees. The "second" came quick, but there was a very noticeable and uncomfortable delay until we got the entrees. Mine tasted great, but the temperature was not right (too cool), which I assumed was the dish sitting out. Lastly, we ordered dessert and I ordered a dessert wine. The desserts came pretty quickly, but after thinking my wine got forgotten, I started eating. Luckily, I saved a bite to try with the wine, because the combination was excellent. Wish I'd had it much sooner. Of course, the check came really promptly.
The server seemed competent, and was nice and friendly, but I expected some acknowledgement of the screw-ups in timing, which never came. They were busy, but not overly so, so I expected much better. Certainly have had better from this restaurant in the past. Not sure if this was kitchen, bar or server related, while this one experience wasn't enough to stop me from returning, another like it would be. If I'm going to spend that much on a meal, the quality of the service has to match the quality of the food. Here's hoping my next time improves a lot.
Ratings: Had temperature been right, it would be 5 stars - I do love their food. Hate to blame kitchen for this, but I just don't know. Also hate to blame server for possible other delays, but she should have been aware and at least made us aware that she was aware.
It’s a pretty space, and the service was good. The food, however, was disappointing. It seemed like they were using “trendy” ingredients (ramps, turnips) without really thinking about how to incorporate them into something special. There are some great restaurants in Minneapolis that do that, but Borough isn’t one of them. Felt really corporate.
‘‘Twas the night before Thanksgiving
And all through the town
Few creatures were stirring
Few people were around
Parlour was active
People were drinking
The staff delightfully laughing
The glasses a clinking
Our reservations were lost
A table was found
Menus were out laid
Very nice food
Very nice staff
We all had a laugh
Great setting, menu options and service. This was our first brunch here - we will be back!
The only issue was the the valet kid for parking the car. I tipped him coming and going and he couldn’t be bothered to open the door for my wife.
