it took an hour for our food to arrive to our table
we were so thirsty and they don’t sell water bottles and the water they offer from the filter taste very bad

All good choices on the menu. Hot fresh bread is a must. Staff knowledgeable liquors, wines and compatibilty. Steaks grilled to perfection. I look forward to dining at B&R again.

It was our sons 29th birthday. The service was exemplary and the roof top dining was perfect. They brought out a delicious dessert as a surprise. Loved it!!

Do not go here! They keep the lights low for a reason... you are eating sub-par steak filled with gristle and fat. I eat at fine dinning establishments all the time. Born & Raised steak is awful.
We didn't eat the Steak sampler that we ordered for the low low price of $149. We complained about the food, no discount was offered, so we brought it home and fed it to our dogs. I have never paid so much for steak for my dogs. Save your money, there are much better steak places in San Diego.

I made reservations about a month in advance, and I had specifically requested a rooftop table, which was on the reservation when I confirmed it. And I specifically made it for a random Wednesday so it would be quieter/ we wouldn’t have issues getting the rooftop table. We show up 10 mins early and they tell us there is no more rooftop seating available. We mention that we specifically requested it in the reservation and they said sorry but it fills up fast & nothing they can do now unless we want to wait.
So we just sit down at an indoor table.
Overall the food tasted good, and was very good quality but the prices seem pretty high for the amount of food you are getting. I get that this is a fancy place and I don’t mind paying more for quality, but $15 for a side of carrots?

Also, the bathroom was a total mess. Half of the WC didn’t have toilet paper, and so I had to go into multiple to find one that did, third time was the charm. I also didn’t see any toilet seat covers in any of them, and there was wash cloths and trash and water all over the floors. I was just really not expecting to have to hover over the toilet seat after paying $300+ for a meal for two.

So overall, food is good quality but expensive, everything else wasn’t great.

Everything was EXCELLENT! A few tableside prepped options (we did the Ceasar salad) both our steaks (different cuts) were cooked perfectly. Waiter was very attentive. Cheesecake was THE BEST!! Super sexy, old Hollywood vibe. Upstairs offers open patio with beautiful view. Not cheap but perfect for special occasions!!

It was our first time being able to get a reservation at this busy restaurant and we absolutely loved it! The food was amazing, the table side ceaser salad was super amazing as well as pretty cool! Our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu as well as the venue. We will definitely be back!

I saw this place on a youtube video, and booked my dinner reservation literally two minutes later. The ambience is so grand and welcoming. Our waiter was so informative, very polite and attentive. The FOOD!!!! You have to understand the emphasis on the food lol, their food was something unreal. Table side was a wonderful addition to our meal, the chef/waiter was funny, very insightful with each ingredient, and offering a special garnish (no spoiler alert here). The steaks literally cut like butter, poached lobster was light but yet so satisfying. Also, get a whiskey smash, you'll love it, and if cocktails aren't your thing this establishment's wine list is to die for. This place was a beautiful ending to an amazing trip!!! Bring your appetite...I promise you'll leave hungry for the Born and Raised experience again!

Ok for the price point. Very limited menu makes it challenging to keep even a small group happy. Good service. Steaks are as good as any other high end steakhouse. Nice privacy between tables. Cool outdoor bar on the roof. Very limited beer selection, surprising for San Diego.

This is not just a dinner it is an experience. Born and Raised transports you back to a different time period. The service, quality of the food and the overall meal experience is simply amazing from start to finish. We will definitely be back!

Get the burgundy snails and so the suggested bone marrow shot once your done eating it, what an experience! The lamb was delicious, the NY steak was perfection! The table side Cesar salad was a treat as well. We took the cocktail suggestions and were the perfect pairing for the entire meal. Ended it with a slice of cheesecake and will definitely be a meal to be remembered! The experience, our server Trevor made our whole trip!

The worst Steak we have ever had! Literally one of the worst experiences......The waiter was condescending and yes I have had many Old Fashioned’s just for the record! Yours was not good!!! Luckily we had just been to Kettner Exchange and Herb and Wood Both excellent with outstanding food and professional service !

I think this might be the best restaurant I’ve ever been to in San Diego. It is part of Consortium and they do not disappoint. The place is lovely, so classy and very instagramable. It has a great view! I had steak and it so amazing. The drinks were delicious, you just can’t go wrong with any of them. Also, shout out to Reed, our server. He was delightful and he went above and beyond with a little favor for False Idol. Born and Raised is a great dinning experience and I cannot wait to go back! If you have not gone, do yourself a favor and make a reservation right away!

Never been to a restaurant 2 times within 2 months. My fiancé and I were so excited to come back for my birthday dinner. We are already planning to come back for her birthday in August. Dirty hash browns are literally the best and a game changer

Before nitpicking, I'd like to say this is the best fine dining experience I've had in my home town of San Diego. It's really fantastic, although not always consistent. Food preparation and presentation varies from visit to visit. For example, we ordered the lobster for 2 on two separate occasions within the same week. The first visit it was served with a small tureen of caviar butter for generous dipping. The second visit the butter/caviar sauce was drizzled lightly on the lobster. When we mentioned the difference, the server said that the preparation must have been incorrect the first time around. He did promptly bring the small tureen so all fine and good. Nest, my wife's house salad was very different each on the two occasions. The first visit, a Monday night, it was served with pickled onions, generous amount of coarse black pepper vs second visit none, and the greens were not as bitter as the second visit (Friday night). The menu indicates the lobster is 40oz and is marketed for 2 people at $140. Growing up in Maine, I have a difficult time believing they served us a 2 1/2 lb lobster on either occasion. I may be wrong but seemed more like a sub 2 lb lobster and not quite enough for two. Also, the tangerine sherbet might be the best in the world. We were heartbroken (maybe too strong but close) last visit when they were already sold out of the Tangerine Sherbet by 8pm. It was something we were really looking forward to and part of the reason for coming back so soon! Again, I'm nitpicking... it is probably the best fine dining restaurant in San Diego. The service, ambiance, sommelier, food - all top notch!

What a perfect place to take my boyfriend for his 30th! Everything was wonderful from the moment we walked in to our goodbyes heading out the door! Food was delicious. Drinks were superb. And the service was outstanding! Thanks for a wonderful evening!

We went for my husband’s 60th birthday. We had a great meal. Service was attentive. We brought our own wine and they decanted it instead of just placing the bottle on the table. Nice touch. Definitely will be going back.
