The 1920s/1930s concept was refreshing. Restaurants aura and ambience, amazing. Meal was delightful. Nothing bad to say about this restaurant. Highly suggest.

Excellent as always. We travel to San Diego from Houston to visit our son and his family, and this has been a regular stop on our agenda. We are hopeful the current crisis passes quickly so this fine establishment can resume business as usual.

Month of March is the perfect month to dine at the BAR for a double birthday celebration for my husband and I.
As soon as we entered the restaurant we were welcomed by the hostesses and brought to our table in less than five minutes. Not sure if this was the norm on a Friday but we’re not complaining! Our server, Bogdan greeted us right away and was professional and helpful with our order and very friendly. Gave us free champagne and even cider for our 10 yo child. Food was delicious and drinks were good, had the Japanese wagyu (very tasty wished we ordered more) dry aged t-bone, cauliflower, mushroom fricassee, potato purée and bread w/ butter. For drinks, pisco punch, mamie taylor and a mocktail.
Super satisfied with no room for dessert and still gave us a bag in it was two macaroons.
Oh also, one of the hostess took our curious daughter for a glimpse of the kitchen. She was amazed.
We had a wonderful experience and happy tummies!!

Took my boyfriend for his birthday. Had the rib eye, Mac n’ cheese, dirty hash browns and a couple cocktails which were all phenomenal. Great ambiance, staff, food and beverages! Would return for another special occasion.

This was a great restaurant from beginning to end. Roberto was our waiter who did an outstanding job!! We started off ordering the bread, delicious! Then I enjoyed the potato leek soup with lobster, mussels and scallops as my appetizer, delicious! Next I had the filet mignon cooked to precision and a side of squash, beets and arugula. Our other side was an incredible mac and cheese with Panko bread crumbs, cheesy and to die for!! Our party consisted of 3 other people who ordered entrees of steak Oscar, filet mignon, and a dry aged bone in New York strip. The gentleman who had the NY strip said it was "the best steak he ever had". For dessert we had one order of the NY cheesecake which was incredibly tasty and unexpectedly light. We also ordered the homemade ice cream made with nitro, what a show stopper!!! This was very creamy and a brilliant and memorable production! Having spent many years in the restaurant and hotel industry and working at some of the finest restaurants in the United States, head waiter Ritz Carlton Hotel for 13 years, Wally's Desert Turtle, Mamma Gina's, Ruth Chris and LG's Prime Steakhouse, I would have to rank this restaurant in my top 3 so far. If you come to San Diego and want to check out Little Italy, this dining establishment is a must do!!! Outstanding job Born & Raised, I'll be back, THANK YOU

The food is pricey, but worth it. I love the ambiance of the restaurant and the service is always excellent. This place is great for both romantic dinners and night's out with girlfriends. They're also super accommodating to any dietary restrictions that you might have. Thank you, Danielle for such a great experience!

The tomahawk and bone in ribeye were amazingly delicious! I recommend the dirty hash browns, mashed potatoes and mushrooms as a side. For dessert, the cheesecake was my favorite. Roberto, our server, was great! Make reservations at least a month ahead to get a good time slot.

Born&Raised always has exceptional service and offers the finest quality dining experience. My most recent time there was especially outstanding. Amy was the most fantastic server with great menu recommendations and even offered an extra sherry luge which was a fun new experience for my girlfriend and mine’s anniversary. We got there when they opened so it was nice and quiet but even by the time we left and it got busier, it wasn’t loud at all like some restaurants get. I can’t wait to come back again and try even more of their wonderful food and drink options.

I swear this isn’t a paid review, just a brutally honest review from a satisfied customer. (:

Brought my boyfriend of 10 years for his 27th birthday. First time at BAR for the both of us. Couldn’t be happier with the service , the food and the over all experience. Beautiful restaurant and excellent service.We shared a bone in rib eye steak medium rare and it came out perfect,tasted great and plenty for two. Also had a table side ceasar salad which was mediocre at best. Passed on the nice looking deserts... Would return!

The restaurant is lovely and the service impeccable. However we were disappointed in the aged duck dish. While the breast portion was very good, the confit was tough and stringy. Perhaps aged a bit too long! And this restaurant is quite expensive so it’s particularly disappointing when the food is not up to par.

The restaurant is beautiful, the service was excellent, and the food was absolutely divine. The noise level was pretty loud though and the tables were very crowded in, with diners having to sit nearly on top of each other. It seems comfort was not the top priority, but crowding in as many tables as possible was. For such a high-class place, this was a bit disconcerting. Also the restaurant overall was very cold. I intensely dislike having to wear my coat while I eat! I have acute arthritis, and the cold temperature made my joints ache, and me very uncomfortable. But both the food and the service was excellent. If we come again, I will have to request a table well away from the entrance door which made the temperature much worse.

Beautiful restaurant with excellent food. It is quite pricey so that it seems unreasonable not receive open table credit. Furthermore it is so loud that conversation is almost impossible. Therefore it’s a mixed experience.

We went to BAR for my son’s birthday dinner. The setting is beautiful...although parking is difficult. The food and service were great. It is very noisy, however, so it makes it hard to visit with your group. The sides, although delicious, are small on size and pricey. Overall, I would recommend it for a special occasion...the cheesecake and homemade ice cream were worth the trip!

This is my favorite restaurant! The restaurant is stunningly beautiful. The service is top notch - servers in tuxedos with tennies. The tableside preparations were fabulous and entertaining! Can’t wait to return.

Leave the kids at home. This was a great anniversary dinner. My husband let me splurge on him (sort of) he paid half the bill. The service is absolutely top notch, the atmosphere was glamorous and the food is certainly unforgettable. They knew it was our anniversary and served us a complimentary champagne. We ordered the sidecar cocktail, it was delicious and refreshing. Then I ordered the 8 oz filet and roasted cauliflower. I didn't finish it off and took the rest home ( the left overs were amazing, still so much flavor). My husband ordered the steak Diane, which is cooked table side and also had the mac n cheese. The bread smelled so good, it was served fresh and hot. We also had the seven layer carrot cake for dessert, it was pretty good. We were torn between the cream puff and carrot cake; and a little curious about the ice cream (prepared table side). We will go back again, it's been days and we are still raving about the experience and the food.

Born & Raised exceeded my expectations. I celebrated a birthday there this weekend and I felt like a QUEEN. The ambiance is so fun and glamorous but what stood out even more was the service. From the greeters, to the servers and everyone in between were exceptional. They made us feel so comfortable without losing the high quality service one would expect from a superior establishment. Either we had an unusually bad experience, or the people who love this place have never had a good steak. We both ordered the expensive dry aged steaks (rib eye they all seem to recommend the same apps and sides to everyone. Our server didn't offer any re-do with our charred steaks because he didn't know they were cooked incorrectly. And the wine/glass menu is a joke for a steak house.
