Loved the patio upstairs. Loved the table side Caesar and Steak Tartare.
Would go back just for that. Cocktails great as well.
Great restaurant, delicious food , the service is the best I have ever had, highly recommend burgundy snails and steak
Improperly cooked steaks. Disappointing considering the hype. Very nice service and outstanding decor.
Mostly very pleasant! Escargot were tiny, would have preferred larger escargot without the bone marrow. Two of my family members have to eat gluten free. The menu was gluten free friendly. The restaurant does not carry gluten free bread. It was a special 60th birthday celebration so I brought our own gluten free rolls which they charged me to serve. That was a little tacky since the bill was rather large. They shouldn’t charge for something they don’t offer.
The service was excellent. The food was good. But the mash potatoes were really runny. We returned them and got a new order but they were funny not as much as the first order but ruby none the less. The menu did change a bit which is fine but you have to bring back the mac and cheese and brocolli. The leeks were fine but rather have broccoli...
We enjoyed the evening. The food was very good and we liked the service. The noise was too much. It was hard to talk to each other
The entire experience was impeccable. Service was excellent, details were everywhere, food was beyond expectation. Drinks were good, not amazing. Table side martini was really fun and tasty!
Born & Raised was an incredible experience from the very beginning. From the highly courteous wait staff, the awe inspiring table side made dishes that they let me happily record, excellent list of wine offerings and amazing appetizers, dinner entrees and sides. My husband ordered the Aged Rib Eye Rossini style, and I ordered the NY Strip steak w/ a Butter Poached lobster add on. We tried each others entrees and we both loved each of the different dishes. The foie gras on his steak was absolutely decadent and I enjoyed every piece of foi gras I stole from him. I ordered the bordelaise sauce to accompany my NY strip and it was the best bordelaise sauce I have ever had in my life. The tail end of the lobster atop my steak was so flavorful, and the lobster had a good amount of butter to satisfy my palette. As an appetizer, we had the truffle soup and the steak tartare. Soup was okay to me, not as much truffle flavor as I would expected but was still a really good soup; but my husband loved every spoonful. Best steak tartare we both have ever had! Amazing texture and just the right amount of sauce and citrus flavor. So freakin' good! It's all literally haunting me right now that I want to make another reservation ASAP! See you soon Born And Raised! Yum!
Early Father’s Day Dinner!
We heard a lot about the restaurant before actually dining there. It not only met our expectations, but it was even more than we anticipated. The service, ambiance and the food were very good. Of course, the parking was a challenge. We look forward to our next dining experience at Born and Raised.
Celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary and the staff made our night an amazing experience!! From the complimentary caviar and champagne as we were first seated as a way to kick off our anniversary celebration to the hand written anniversary card, no detail was overlooked. The ambiance was so cool!! It was like walking into a scene from the Great Gatsby. They obvious spent a lot of money on the decor because this place looks amazing!! The food is out of this world!! I used to measure all other restaurant steaks to Cowboy Star, who do amazing steaks, this is now my new benchmark for steaks!! I can’t wait to go back!!
Tableside cocktails and Caesar's salad were super fun. Halibut was delicious and a surprisingly generous portion. Dessert cart was the only thing that didn't tempt us with its choices. It's a beautiful space. A couple tables are too close for comfort but we were quickly re-seated, so all was good.
I had a Great steak and my wife had in her words”the best prime rib she has ever had” and she has had many prime rib!
I have to admit we arrived at this restaurant with very high expectations after being referred by a friend and reading the raving reviews online. The restaurant is breathtaking, the rooftop terrace is wonderful and it all felt like we were thrown right into a scene from The Great Gatsby. Service was outstanding and attentive. The menu looks amazing, and the prices promise a very high-end experience. The sommelier did a great job recommending a wine pairing. So far so good. Unfortunately we were then very underwhelmed by the taste of the food. The praised table-side Caesar salad was bland and boring, the $24 foie gras appetizer was served on what seemed like a soggy log of old bread, the American Wagyu steak was so-so and not as tender as it should have been, and the dry-aged NY strip was extremely marbled and chewy. The shredded truffle on top unfortunately didn't add any flavors, a waste of another $15. The chocolate verrine dessert wasn't much to write home about either, rather boring and with crumbles that felt and tasted like cocoa puffs. All-in with tip we spent over $600 on a dinner for two, which makes this easily one of the most expensive dinners we've ever had, but the food definitely did not live up to the price. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't worth that kind of money.
My boyfriend and I came here for our 2 year anniversary and it was a wonderful experience! We were seated right away and was wished happy anniversary by two hostesses, our waiter, and even the manager (Jessica)- who came to give us a handwritten card.
The food stood out and was definitely worth the $$ price point, but the service we received stood out more. Our waiter Gabe gave our table so much attention and gave great recommendations for drinks, and opinions on the food.
- The Charcuterie Board was solid, great quality in house-made meats and the best bread!
- The House Salad was INCREDIBLE, was probably one of the best salads I've ever had. The lettuce and dressing goes very well with the burrata cheese on the bottom
- The Bread was not worth $5 and detracts from the main course
Steak ( 24 oz Bone-in Rib-Eye )
- Perfect size for my partner and I to share, the meat was cooked perfect medium rare. Possibly the best steak I've ever had
- The Robuchon Potato was a nice light airy side dish, but nothing amazing
- Mushrooms Fricasse was rich and earthy with the duck yolk making it even tastier
I loved my experience at Born & Raised, it definitely lived up to the hype! It is definitely a more expensive experience and not a quick thing either, we stayed about 1.5-2 hours, but is definitely worth the while!
Very expensive. Attentive service. Good for steak eaters.
Service and atmosphere were very good. Steaks were pretty good. My wife’s was a tad over. Drinks were excellent. It was not a bad dining experience but I’ll go somewhere else next time.
The host team seemed very annoyed that we were there only to get drinks and dessert. They made us feel unwelcome. The rest of the staff was fantastic. The bartender was very knowledgeable and a master of his craft.
They were very late in seating our reservation and far too busy to really offer great service, although the staff were very nice!
Extremely disappointing. Entrees took way too long......45+ mins. Then arrived warm at best. Sent $80 steak (bone-in NY) back. Was reheated which was ok but chewy and not even near the quaility of an expensive steak. Sent it back and asked that they remove it and my wifes Halibut from the bill. Which they did.
It was fabulous! This was my second time there and it was even better than the first which I thought would have been hard to beat. A bit higher on the price but well worth it.
The restaurant's reputation preceeded it. The interior decoration is certainly noteworthy. however, it's more in the Vegas style; a bit garish. I wouldn't go so far as to call it classy. The steaks were delicious, but not necessarily better than the chains out there (Ruth Chris; Fleming's). overall, i cannot say it is worth the price.
Had a wonderful surprise birthday dinner and cocktails with my wife. Food was worth the drive down from Carlsbad. We were seated at a table for four so our son and wife could join us for after dinner drinks.
They made a special effort to make us feel welcome and celebrate with us
The table baseds are so wide that tgere is no room for your feet. You have to place them sideways???
We are just floored at how this place was. Just loved everything about it! Can wait to send more Canadians here
just not worth the amount of money. Food was just ok service was good. We went once to try.
Great food and experience from start to finish.
The food was AMAZING. My favorite item was the polenta meatball! My goodness, I could have ordered a half dozen of those!
Only downside to this restaurant was the tableside service items. I don’t think this upscale of a restaurant should have smoke blowing into other tables. I left with my hair smelling like smoke. Kind of a turn off on the on Atmosphere. Maybe table side items that don’t require a hot pan? I was in mid conversation and I had to move away from smoke blowing into my face.
Anyways 4 stars. Not quite a 5 star restaurant. Too loud and that smoke bothered me and my girlfriends.
I came here to celebrate my birthday with close friends. The decor, ambiance, & food amazing!!!! Exquisite cuisine, the ribeye melted in my mouth as well as steak tartare!!! My only complaint is that the service was quite slow.
Hands down, best restaurant experience we've had in SD.
Wife and I celebrated an anniversary at Born and Raised and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Great food and drinks, but noisy. Service was excellent. Very pricey, good for special occasions.
Food was okay but the place was nice.
food was good except we both ordered our steaks medium rare and they came to almost medium well, still a good steak but unsure if we will come back.
Wait staff not well-trained on menu items.
Meat under cooked
We very much enjoyed our experience here. Had heard quite a bit about the place & was reserving for a special night. Brought my husband in for his birthday. There were no disappointments. The tableside martini was perfectly prepared ( nice touch with the liquid nitrogen). The carpaccio wonderful. The tableside Caesar was just fine, but our steaks with the Oscar & lobster add-ons were the real stars. The side of mushrooms were very flavorful as well. My husband received a handwritten birthday note which was a lovely personal touch, as was the delicious complimentary chocolate macaron. The decor is as delicious as the food. We’ll be back.
