This restaurant has mastered attention to detail with regard to the entire dining experience. We loved the martini and caesar salad tableside cart presentation, and the steaks were delicious. They even offered a hand written birthday card and complimentary dessert. We definitely plan to return for another special occasion or fancy date night!

Food was great, service was great, it was altogether a terrific birthday meal. I recommend a booth upstairs. It's a little quieter and also the view is spectacular. I also recommend getting the things they offer table side - the martini's were smoking (literally) and the Cesar salad is delicious.

Amazing food, great service. I will say this our second visit and the food was still amazing, however, the ambiance is very loud. Quite a lot of young loud tables which will take this off my list for date night locations. My expectation for fine dining, is a higher level of clientele.

I highly recommend Born & Raised .

The service is outstanding and very professional at all times. The Chefs mainly one I know of is Chef Philippe makes you want to come back over and over!!

This venue has a beautiful view and the ambience is like no other restaurant in Little Italy... it’s sooo worth it!!

Born and Raised was a great experience. Food was above expectations. Steak was cooked perfectly, our server Bogdan was especially attentive and professional. All in all it was a great way to celebrate my 18th anniversary. Bravo to Born and Raised

Excellent service out matched by delicious local sturgeon caviar from San Francisco
Excellent service. Beautiful staff , very attentive excellent service and outstanding filet mignon
Will come again when back in San Diego without a doubt!!!!!!!!

When you go there you know its going to be pricey but its one of the few restaurants that the experience is equal to the price. Great food, great service, Devon was our waiter, and great atmosphere. Will definitely go back.

Wanted to take my family who were in town visiting someplace nice where they could have a memorable experience. Well it surely will be one to remember, and what an embarrassment for me. The vibe and decor is absolutely incredible. However, the service was awful. Our waitress didn’t even go over the specials, didn’t ask us for a second round of drinks, and didn’t check on us but for one brief moment after we had gotten our steaks. The steaks were cooked well, but served lukewarm. The gnocchi and rigatoni were delicious at least. Other servers seemed to be more attentive to their tables around us, but unfortunately this experience was not the one I was hoping to have when treating my family to a nice dinner.

We went for our anniversary and from front desk to finishing our dinner, everyone we met was spot on, clearly enjoyed working there and believed in the mission. Ambiance can’t be beat. Food is creative (I highly recommend the crudo and snails), cocktails are tasty and inventive, and the presentation is lovely.

Born and Raised is a first rate steakhouse with a look and feel of the "Roaring 20's". This is a great, well needed addition to the San Diego dining scene.

Born and Raised has a competent wine list and, impeccable hand crafted cocktails. The main floor bar possesses a well heeled, sophisticated charm, the bar on the second level is more relaxed and open to the amazing San Diego weather.

While there are other main course offerings (a fish special and a vegetarian option), this place is about the steak. There is a wide selection of Prime and Dry Aged Prime offerings. If you are a New York Steak lover you are in luck; the bone-in dry aged N.Y. Steak is hard to beat!

The service was attentive and not rushed. The desert selections are worth sticking around for.

Outstanding food, service and incredible ambiance. The decor is straight from Great Gatsby. Our New York steak was great and the Dirty Hashbrowns were amazing also. I really loved the Charcuterie board too! We had a Whiskey Smash and a Sidecar which were both yummy. It's just so beautiful in there - the patio upstairs looks great, too. Bathrooms are awesome so you need to visit them even just to take a peek!

Great place, beautiful in fact. Very service oriented with table side service for salads, drinks, appetizers, or even steak diane. Very attentive. However, overall food is just ok and not on par with the environment or cost. Steaks which are their thing are excellent, but the execution of other items is variable and although impressive on presentation, not always tasty. Overall a very nice place with good food and excellent service, but not superb flavors. Four stars.

Ambiance is unmatched in SD. Every detail is thought through to make a immersive experience. It is almost a theme restaurant, but it is too cool for that. Service is amazing. 4 stars for food because of a few knit picky things: steak not cooked as requested, hash browns too salty, leeks too tough. Menu is creative. Expect to spend, but it is worth it.

I had my girlfriend’s birthday here and it was such a great experience. From the ambience to the actual dinner, everything was top notch. Danielle was an amazing server and was very knowledgeable of the menu. We had an awesome dinner and have zero complaints.

Ambiance is great, however, this place was way overpriced for the quality of food received. I am usually not that picky, but this place really left a sour taste in my mouth. The steak was very overcooked, extremely charred edges for a medium-rare steak. Low quality cut too :( Even the Yorkshire pudding was burnt. Much of the food was bland and lacked anything that screamed remarkable. However, the seared Foie Gras was fairly tasty. I wish this place offered better food, because I live fairly close by, and utilize places nearby for meetings. Unfortunately, this places does not meet expectations.

Our waiter Nick was fantastic, knew all the details of the food on the menu, made my martini tableside and is very good at what he does. The rest of the staff was friendly and very helpful.

The food was amazing, caesar salad (tart but good), uni pasta (can be a fine small entree with bread), mushroom side dish (rich and buttery), foi gras (nicely prepared, but no toast or vehicle to eat with), bone in New York strip, (cooked very nicely, good)...

Since I had a hard time figuring out for myself, I’ll start my review by saying the dress code is business casual. The ambience is great, but the restaurant can get quite loud. Food was amazing and so was the service.

Let me start off by saying we were super excited to be going to this restaurant it was our 12th anniversary and with a busy life and two kids we don’t get out much! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful the servers have the cutest uniforms but when it came down to our meal well it sucked. My husband ordered a steak (was good) not great and I ordered salmon (one of their specials). Make a long story short my salmon showed up raw they asked me if I wanted another one. Uh yeah that’s what I ordered for dinner. By the time they brought my new salmon to the table my husband had finished his steak which meant I sat and watched him eat dinner on our 12th anniversary and then I had to ask them to take mine to go. Will we try it again... ? maybe I guess everybody can have an off night. But with all the great restaurants out there it may not be your first choice. It was definitely a let down for our special night. Another note it took way too long to get another glass of wine. With 2 to 3 people servicing your table you think it be there right away . Really wishing I could’ve written a stellar review for this restaurant. Bit of a let down.
I will say they tried to remedy it with a gift card for the next visit which we ended up putting towards this dinner but still doesn’t replace that our anniversary dinner was ruined.

the attention to detail is beyond anything I’ve experienced in San Diego... Martinis made for us at our table with the history and ingredients described to us as they were made....steak tartare prepared from scratch with the chef’s own romantic description of his recipe on a cart at our table, a Caesar salad made with fresh ingredients using the original recipe tableside and then finally, Filet Mignon Diane served en flambé in front of us followed by an amazing carrot cake that we couldn’t finish... hostesses in black cocktail dresses with Jackie O collars (waiting for their winter dresses with fox fur collars)...constantly stopping to clear our table and reset it with new silverware and linen..world class has arrived in my city.
