The restaurant was beautifully detailed, the dimmed lighting and decor was tasteful. The hostess might have been newer; my wife and I arrived early to our reservation time but were sat after other couples who arrived afterwards and had later reservation times…but we were sat at a table nonetheless. The waitress was knowledgeable about the food, and recommended delicious drinks. The meal was delicious to say the least; everything was presented perfectly in terms of timing. The waiter who delivered the meal took the time to explain which was which. The waitress softly checked on us but too frequently. The dessert was just as delicious as the dinner. Our first time at Born & Raised and it was everything and more that people raved about! Recommended for a fun date night!
We were a party of 6 so ate upstairs outside. It was fun looking out over the San Diego skyline. The New York steaks were excellent and cooked perfectly. Great place to celebrate a special occasion

The restaurant is beautiful. Most of the food was amazing. The only issue we had was the additional lobster we ordered with the steak was so small and was flavorless, the poached it in salt free butter and it had no flavor. The only other issue we had was the chocolate cake was horrible, dry and not good at all. On the other side the beef Wellington was perfectly cooked and the mushrooms inside had a very earthy taste so if you don’t like that you won’t like this. The potatoes underneath were fabulous and the dirty hash browns were as well. The bread, let me just say order the bread. You won’t be disappointed and we ordered two chocolate cakes to go and a cheesecake, big mistake. The chocolate cake went in the trash after just a couple of bites but the cheesecake 4 of us were fighting over. They brought me a lovely macaroon for my birthday and it tasted like strawberry shortcake. Be advised it you are 15 minutes late they will cancel your reservation, there was an accident on the freeway and we called in advance to tell them we were going to be 21 minutes late per gps and they refused to hold our table even on my birthday and for a 4:30 reservation!!!! It was quite cold outside but they brought us blankets when we asked.
Absolutely beautiful place with lots of detail and great location. Food was delicious, the quality is worth the price and detailed in presentation. Staff is very kind and very attentive. Makes you feel like royalty. Best restaurant in town.
I felt like I wasn’t treated like other customers. The bartender tended to people who came in after I did. Never asked me if I’d like to order a drink until I said something. Not cool. Also the service at the table was also sub par. I often had to ask passerby servers to please locate our server or ask others for things such as extra spoons etc. the food was good the ambience was nice. But honestly for how expensive everything was it wasn’t worth it. The service was not satisfactory in my opinion. The rack of lamb is delicious! Mac and cheese delicious! hash brown delicious!
Waiter and staff were tremendous....knew exactly when to be present and when to provide some space to let us talk. The food was incredible. We both had the New York strip and they were perfectly cooked!
The steaks were delicious, cooked perfectly. The service was great, our server was very attentive and helpful when we had questions with the menu.

Great place to celebrate our anniversary dinner. Getting an early reservation made the experience nice and quiet. Our waiter did an excellent job at offering drink recommendations and made a great martini.
All of the food was to die for. This was the best dining experience I have ever had.

Great food and service. Would have liked a better table for the special occasion that was listed on the reservation. Sat next to a family who had a small child on a Mobil device that had the volume cranked up to 11 the e tire meal and it was a distraction from the experience.

Fantastic food, ambience, and customer service. One of the top 3 best meals I’ve had in San Diego, and the best steakhouse I’ve possibly ever been to. Really cool vibe and atmosphere was well.
Reservation started rough, we got there 15 min early as stated and they had us wait at the bar area which was perfect. But our reservation time came around and they could not seat us because of lack of table availability, even though we booked our reservation 2 months in advance so we waited 30 min to be seated.
Once we were seated I have no complaints. Service was amazing, wait staff were very attentive, we were given glasses of champagne on the house for our anniversary. Bar staff were quick and very nice. Food was amazing we got the ribeye with Mac and cheese and the pheasant. A lot larger steak than I was expecting. Overall pricey but very nice experience for a beautiful view and great food and drinks.
Beautiful design and architecture and good food, however we had a few problems. We did not appreciate the photographs of rappers everywhere. Taking romantic pictures of our night in our booth with Easy E above us was not something we liked. We do not respect his despicable, women-debasing lyrics or his lifestyle, so we certainly don’t want his bigger than life photograph in our birthday celebration pictures, but he hung over our booth. The hosts treated us disrespectfully. We had a reservation, but we came 30 minutes early to have our first drink at the bar. They told us it was full and we could not go to the bar. They sat us early at our table in an empty restaurant since they had just opened the doors. However it was my husband’s birthday and I really wanted to have him experience the bar upstairs, so I walked up myself to check it out. There were 3 empty stools. I went down and told the hosts and they didn’t even respond to what I said, instead they wanted to vet me (when they had just seated us 5 minutes prior n an empty restaurant), what is your name, what time is your reservation? Not, I’m so sorry, yes, please go up and have a drink. They didn’t offer to make things right and let us go sit at the bar. Then our server Maria talked a mile a minute and when I asked her to please slow down she rolled her eyes and answered our menu questions with an attitude. She acted in a hurry and did not want to vary from her script. We knew it was a script because later we could hear her say the same exact mile a minute spiel to our surrounding tables. She made us feel like we were bothering her. I don’t blame her. Someone in management hired and trained her so this is obviously the quality of service Born and Raised is comfortable with. Maria would be well suited for working at a sports bar, but definitely not fine dining. I was a fine dining server in SD for 10 years, and in my day someone like her or the very rude hosts would have never made it past the first interview.
I took my sister here to celebrate her birthday. We had shared the Wagyu steak sampler, lobster, bread Caesar salad, and the dirty hash brown. The service was amazing, friendly and professional. They gave my sister a macaron for her birthday and she loved it. The food was delicious. Really made an impression on her.

We love B&R and are regulars. Tonight the service was awful. More than an hour between appetizer and main course. Then the steaks were cold. We complained to our server and her words: “no, you’re food is not cold”. And “no, it wasn’t an hour”. It was infuriating to have our server deny we had waited for so long and then deny that our food was cold. If she had handled it more professionally, such as “I’m sorry let me look into it”, we would have been satisfied. It was her rude and outright denial out of our experience that was so frustrating. We have never experienced such terrible service. We left the table at 8:00pm right after we finished our main courses. Waiting from 5:30-7:00pm for our main courses is unacceptable at any restaurant. An hour and half wait is unacceptable anywhere! We look forward to telling everyone about our terrible service and experience at B&R.
Everything about the experience was spectacular! My only complaint would have to be our steak.

Uni Spaghetti, good, small portion but worked; Meatball, good for nothing unordinary; 8 oz filet with blue cheese crust Carrot Cake, huge portion, good; Negroni, deliciously made; Irish Coffee, strong, thanks bartender!
We went for our anniversary and had an amazing dinner. The steak and mac n cheese were my favorites. Even the caesar salad was great though. I like that they put us in a quiet little booth. It's great for a romantic date. For a bit of more casual feel I would recommend the upstairs bar for happy hour.
We took our newlywed friends out for a nice dinner and this restaurant hit all of the marks! Our server Trevor was super descriptive and attentive yet not overbearing. Also, we all agreed that his personal uniform was on point. Anyway, we ordered our food for the table so we could try a good amount of dishes. We loved every single item Trevor recommended--from the dirty hashbrowns, escargot to the caesar salad & Steak Diane prepared right at the table! Steve-O, the server who prepared our food at the table, was super friendly and very entertaining while presenting the food to us. A fun little touch was doing sherry shooters via our bone marrow after finishing our escargot dish. They sent out a couple of macaron ice cream sandwiches for the celebrants which was very thoughtful. Though it is pricey, it is worth every single penny. Overall, we were all so impressed with everything this restaurant delivers on--perfect ambiance, impeccable service, and unforgettable food. Can't wait to come back and dine here again!

The rib eye steaks that we ordered came medium instead of medium-rare. The bottle of wine was not uncorked at the table. The waiter interrupted our conversation four times without even saying "excuse me" or any other words of interruption.
