"When people ask where in New Orleans to go for great local seafood,
I want the answer to be Borgne." - Brian Landry, Executive Chef

Chef Brian Landry grew up fishing on Lake Borgne, the epicenter of coastal cuisine in Louisiana.
His passion for Louisiana seafood brought him to create Borgne, a celebration of coastal Louisiana with a touch of Isleño influence. Borgne is a gathering place for locals and visitors alike, a CBD lunch spot, a quick bite before the game and a casual setting for a delicious dinner with friends.

Last minute hotel lunch reminded me to better plan my lunch breaks. Soggy barely warm fries out of a jar mayo on the po-boy and the broiled oysters had a nice crust but were cool? The guy next to me had the fried chicken lunch special and he was very happy. He worked nearby and advised me to stick with the lunch special.

We came with a large party with ever changing numbers. They were very accommodating and very understanding of being a little late/having one person come later, etc. they were also great about accommodating food allergies and getting us things everyone liked. The food was mostly great. A few dishes were a little bland but overall it was delicious! I would definitely recommend!

Very good, we have eaten at Borgne several times and have enjoyed every bite each time. Large gathering or small evening meal you will not be unsatisfied. Great wait staff also! Fresh local seafood!

We started off with the seafood tower, which had crawfish maison, royal red shrimp (onions, celery & aioli) and boiled shrimp. The boiled shrimp were over boiled, but still good. The bottom layer had premium oysters and gulf oysters on the half shell. It was really great.
We also had the duck poppers, which were wrapped in bacon. Totally awesome.
I had the sous vide fried chicken (I'm allergic to gilled fish). It was as good as my grandmother's.

The menu was limited in its focus, but we were able to find options that worked. The food itself was cooked well, but it could have been seasoned more. This restaurant seemed to be more focused on the ambiance of the dining experience than the actual quality of the dining.

My daughter is Vegan and she found several dishes to choose from. The décor was very unique with a nautical flare that we all loved. The restaurants support of oyster shell program was important reason for our booking.

Came here for Easter brunch with my visiting family. The appetizers (duck poppers, grilled oysters and shrimp toast) were great. The sauce on the shrimp toast was a little sweet and I didn't care for it, but I always love seeing shrimp toast on a menu. I got the oyster BLT, it was a little bland, it needed salt and little spice. The pork belly was a little bland as well. My bf got the turkey necks as his meal and he was eating them silently the entire time, so that's a sign it was really good. My uncle had the whole fish with a side of the machoux, he loved it. My aunt got the fried chicken and loved it, it wasn't over battered but still crispy. My cousin got the burger. He said it was a good burger. All in all it was a very good meal. The service was wonderful and they didn't impose on us and let us chat. I'd definitely recommend this in the future.

Also my bf really wanted to try the fish in a bag. I saw the table next to us open two of them, it looked beautiful

Very awesome food and service. Hanger steak was a top tiered steak I’ve had. Key Lime Icebox pie with rum ice cream was THE BEST dessert of any sort I’ve ever had.

My only complaint was I ordered a nice glass of wine & it came in a plastic cup! Guess they ran out of wine glasses. It ruined the taste of my $15.00 glass of wine.

Been eating here since they opened. I’ve given several reviews. All good. Pretty consistent. Great spot for a meal prior to an event at the arena. Great for clients and guests. Get the shrimp toast appetizer when you arrive. It’s shrimp stuffed toast, not like you get elsewhere. Nobody will complain. Fish in a bag always good. Bone in flounder for people with experience who know bone in is better. You must be experienced at eating it this way. I grew up with it. There’s more on the menu, of course. Don’t forget about the lunch specials.

Four of us sought a good restaurant with quiet-to-moderate noise level so that we could discuss business, conversing at normal tone, and not be hurried. Our experience was perfect. 90 minutes in-an-out, business, meal, and everything. I'll do it again.

We ate there several times during our stay. The raw oysters were delicious on several occasions. The trout cooked in paper was amazing and the seafood platter was perfect. Service was very good and the desserts were delicious. The noise at night was a little loud, but during the day it was very nice. Overall a great experience and we will go back.

If this were our first visit to Borgne, I’d have rated it as Very Good. The food was good, but not great. And the service was excellent. The prices were a bit high, but not excessively so.

But this was not our first visit. And several dishes were not up to past standards. Of course, there’s no way to change the raw oysters themselves. But the cocktail sauce that accompanied them was not as spicy as in the past. And there was no horse radish to add (though in hind sight, we should have asked; it might have been available).

The stuffing for our flounders seemed to be primarily panko bread crumbs with very few shrimp and little crabmeat. In the past, it was a rich, creamy stuffing with ample shrimp and crabmeat. The flounder itself was still quite good.

The hazelnut pudding dessert was also not up to past standards. On our last visit, the condensed milk ice cream in the dessert had been replaced with regular vanilla ice cream. This time, not only was it regular vanilla ice cream, but the pudding had very little hazelnut flavor and there were far fewer chunks of chocolate than in the past.

We mentioned our disappointment with the flounder to our waitress. She indicated she’d let the new chef know. And she provided us with a complimentary key lime dessert.

The original premise of the restaurant was to serve traditional New Orleans fishing camp food. Our sense is that the menu has been toned down to appeal to the taste of out of town visitors staying in the hotel. Locals are likely to be disappointed.

I can only assume that they’re listening to the majority of their customers. Though I would have thought they’d have a good number of locals eating there before or after events at the Superdome and Arena.

For us, the things that made Borgne a special destination in its own right have disappeared. We’ll give it one more try, but only when we’re in the neighborhood and it’s convenient.

The food was very commercial. Two out of four had the stuffed whole flounder. First the server should let it be known that it is served bone in and second it was stuffed with a heavy stuffing that didn’t have any seafood in it.

My husband and I were attending the Luke Bryan concert and we were looking for a restaurant within walking distance. Many had recommended Borgne. I was excited and I really wanted to love it! The food was a huge disappointment. We ordered many things on the menu; no flavor. However, the roasted cauliflower soup was to do die for! The ambiance was great and I loved that they were playing country music in the background; def got me hyped to see Luke Bryan.

It was ok. The problem is nothing stood out and with all of the excellent food in the area it is hard to recommend this spot. If I was staying at the hotel and in a hurry to grab and go, it would be fine but if I had the time to venture out, I probably would do so. The service was nice but a bit slow.

We started off with the raw Louisiana oysters and they were nice and salty. My husband had the house salad and could not get over how fresh and light the salad was. He said the pears were delicious. I had the fried catfish sliders for my main meal and they were great. The fish was fried perfectly and the chow chow was awesome. My husband had the Friday special of catfish with a red gravy and rice and he said it was very good as well. Will definitely be dining her again.

Staying at the Hyatt Regency for a business conference, I ate at Borgne twice. Not only is it convenient (staying in the hotel on a rainy night) - the food and service are both excellent. I enjoyed a craft cocktail at the bar and when an associate showed up, we decided to stay there for dinner. Try the charred corn...try the grilled romaine salad...all oyster dishes I sampled were wonderful. I would recommend Borgne to anyone, whether a hotel guest or not!

Our group of four went here before a concert at the arena. The place was packed. Nonetheless, the service and the food were great. The staff was well prepared for the pre-concert crowd. We were impressed by the highly efficient service of food and drinks despite the crowd. I would highly recommend Borgne for a meal before (or maybe after) an event at the dome or the arena. The food was really good, and the menu is well priced.
