Lovely food, great service with knowledgeable and social server, great ambiance. Tapas are a favorite. Love the seafood and cheese/ meats plates. Octopus was a little tough in one part but the other part fantastic. All other food was much like experiences in Spain over the years.

My party decided to try the Boqueria experience, which required everyone at the table to participate. Our group consisted of four people. However, we were surprised to find that almost every tapa brought out had only three pieces, including the bread. When I inquired about this, the explanation given was that each plate only came with three pieces, regardless of the group size. So, a table of two or three people would receive the same serving as a table of four, but we still had to pay for all four people. While this was annoying, I could understand the reasoning behind it to some extent. The main highlight of choosing the Boqueria experience was looking forward to the Paella. Unfortunately, when it finally arrived at our table, it was clearly overcooked. The rice was extremely dry, almost crunchy, and the mussels were also overcooked and dry. I asked the waiter about this, but he insisted that it was the correct preparation. However, having tasted Paella from various places around the world, I must say that it has never been served this way. I'm not sure if this was Boqueria's unique take on the dish or if it was just an off night, but it was certainly disappointing. Considering the price, which was around $100 per person, I had expected a better dining experience. There are definitely much better restaurants in downtown DC that offer more value for the money. On a positive note, I must commend the restaurant for their excellent drink selection. The drinks were truly enjoyable!

We ordered iberico bellota ham and they served us a almost only fat, not ham, few slices. I complained about that is not what a plate (probably not more of 50 grams in this case) of iberian bellota has to be if you have it on the menu. They say is "the way we do" looking at us and trate us as we are the more stupid clienst on earth. I returned the plate and they came back with a plate of Jamon Serrano, not iberico bellota at all, super salty that we left on the plate after tested it . They charged the full price as iberico bellota, a total fraud. Yes I am spaniard and yes I know about food (have two companies in the field and have eaten a few hundres of kg of iberico) and yes I eat in restaurants of all kinds every other day, from top michelin rated to super modest taverns around the planet. Not used to leave comments bu you guys worked hard today and really deserved my time writing this review.

Boqueria had a wide range of small plates and everything we tried was tasty. Service was prompt and cheerful and the food arrived quickly and it was nice and hot. The restaurant is popular with younger folks so it was a bit noisy but it was still possible to carry on a conversation. We would definitely go there again.

We love tapas restaurants and will definitely return here when in Washington. We sat outside and people-watched as we ate. The service was great. Our waitress was Mattie. We especially enjoyed the garlic shrimp, grilled asparagus and the mushroom croquettes. The octopus was good, but should have been crisper.

Delicious tapas! Come in for drinks and small plates. This is not the place if you are expecting a full meal. More of a place to mingle, drink, and have a nice bite to eat.

We had a great time at Bouqueria. Got there around 5 pm. Excellent service from a very friendly server. We got 6 dishes, perfect for two. We had the tabla de quesos, which was excellent; the paella de Marisco, which was great and big; the mushroom croquettes, the patatas bravas… all great. The manchego was exceptionally good. Our server was friendly and helpful. We’ll be visiting again!

Love Boqueria - first experience was in Flat Iron in New York. Reminded me of being on Barcelona. The food is always fantastic. Love this location. Only thing I would say was that it was really LOUD!
