Boqueria - Penn Quarter
Very enjoyable meal of authentic tapas and an excellent paella. Nice sherry selection. Very quick service, so pace yourself and order a few dishes at a time.
Best Tapas around. Wish they would always offer the La Padilla and it wasn’t seasonal but food it still wonderful
Group of 18 people spread over two tables. Service was prompt and attentive food was great. The restaurant staff was very accommodating when we arrived a bit early for our reservations. Sharing Tapas was an excellent way to keep people interacting. Definitely going back.
Good selections of drinks and food choices from appetizers to desserts. Everything to share so could try many dishes. Scallops were very tasty as were lamb skewers, spinach, bacon wrapped dates, and tarron cake dessert. Go for it...
Wow this place is special! We weren’t very hungry when we got to the restaurant and only ordered a few small plates. But we found ourselves trying to eat every last bite of the food because it was so delicious. Highly recommend the half chicken- it really is the best chicken we’ve ever eaten. It was my birthday, and they sweetly brought me a dessert on the house. We are just visiting DC, but if we lived here, we would come to Boqueria often.
A very memorable dinner and evening. . .the “Tinta” sangria, ands the many tapas were great. We decided to do the “Boqueria Experience” and let the Chef bring his selections. All were outstanding - especially the Jamon Iberico and the Grilled Octopus. It is a two hour dinner, and we will definitely go back again.
Very rude waiter.
Great food! Excellent service!
Our server Will was awesome!
Great place to order several tapas to share. Paella is amazing.
Excellent service. Great food!
Great service and food, fun evening!
Wonderful service and very kind people. Missed my birthday celebration, but did say happy birthday at the end. The meat and cheese plate is really delicious and big! We enjoyed it and will be back.
We had a work meeting over lunch, and will definitely do it again! The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and it wasn't too loud. Highly recommended!
Fabulous meal, great food, excellent service
Paella was good, not great.
Delicious tapas and cocktails. Just loved it.
Gloria was a great waitress!! Patatas bravas are always a must
Great service and delicious food!
Great! They celebrated a birthday with complimentary churros!
Chic restaurant, service was quick and efficient. We weren't big fans of the white sangria. It was very lemony. Otherwise everything we had was tasty, and well prepared. We tried the garlic shrimp, lamb meatballs, lamb skewers, octopus, croquetas, sweet potatoes, squash & sausage, and the dates. We'll easily return.
First experience, very good food and attentive staff.
Wait staff was outstanding in helping us select various dishes...
As always the food was amazing! I Personally love the French toast and steak and eggs. The drinks are pretty good too and the service is always amazing during brunch!
The food was subpar but the drinks and ambiance were great.
The food was amazing. We ordered a few tapas and really enjoyed every single one. Great experience overall.
Good food and a nice setting. The service was a bit slow but otherwise okay.
We had a delightful birthday dinner at Boqueria. Baby boomers & millennials both enjoyed. Tried some of the featured cocktails which were a hit: the Basque Mule & the Cidre sangria, also some tasty sherries. The tapas portions were generously sized. Loved the jamon/cheese/chorizo platter as starter. Patatas bravas, green beans, white anchovies with housemade potato chips, salt cod balls were especially delicious. The roast chicken was amazing! Also loved the dulce de leche churros & great espresso for dessert. Service was friendly, even charming, & efficient. Thanks for a fun night.
Food is mostly great here - and plentiful. Service, while not slow taking orders or bringing out food, tends to trail off so it’s hard to get out of there in under 1 hour.
The food was great. However, because I read the reviews beforehand, I expected the food to be good. What I did not expect, and was pleasantly surprised with, was the service. Unfortunately nowadays the service industry is so terribly bad that I unwillingly learnt to live with ignorant service staff. It was just the opposite here. Everybody including our waitress were superbly in tuned with us. Thanks Boqueria DC Downtown!
Very average. The JAMÓN IBÉRICO DE BELLOTA was quite good (we didn't think it was worth the upcharge though), but nothing else we had was memorable in the least, but not bad. The PAN CON TOMATE had little flavor but the bread had a nice texture. The CRUDO DE VIEIRAS. was ok but sliced so thin (I now understand its supposed to) that there was no texture to the scallops. The decor was very nice, but most of the seating is hard and definitely designed to ensure you don't linger. As long as you stay away from the bar the volume level was not excessively loud so you could have a conversation. Service was OK, again nothing terrible but nothing great. We asked for plain coffee and got expresso. When we said we really wanted just plain coffee we were told they would get some but came back and said it was not available. No mention was made of the fact that we had made this clear when ordering.
We came in for a pre-theater dinner on Saturday evening and were surprised that they had Happy Hour until 7 PM, with greatly reduced prices. I ordered the happy hour cocktail (gin, lemon, and some type of syrup) which was very ordinary--tasted like lemonade. I also ordered tapas off the HH menu: a yogurt/eggplant/red pepper dip that was ok and a garlic butter/anchovies/bread item that also was just ok. My friend said the steak tapas were delicious. I tried her potatoes and they were alright--a big bowl, crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. I'll go back and hope for better food off the regular menu. On the plus side, the restaurant is very pretty--casual but nicely designed, contemporary, lively--and the service was terrific.
Beautiful restaurant convenient that easily accommodated our large party. We went for brunch and they kept the bottomless food and drinks flowing!
First time coming for dinner, have been to brunch three times. Similar food as brunch menu, but still very high quality tapas, and good value for drinks.
Great food, and the ambience was fun and energetic. First time there and we will be back next time we’re in town.
Fun atmosphere; food shows attention to detail; perfect before game or theatre or after such; menu provides wide range of choices and flexibility.
Great service and food
First time here and it was close to the food I had in San Sebastián, everything was prepared very well. Friendly staff and very professional. Overall a great experience. Definitely be back and recommend it.
I celebrated my birthday here with a small group of friends. The food was delicious - definitely try the paella! - and the service was excellent. The food is also very authentic and there's something for everyone.
Enjoyed the evening!
Great service, great food and great location. We ate mostly vegetarian because of our group makeup, and I tried various new and delicious dishes.
