Food really good; service attentive, but the noise level!
The service was horrible from start to finish. We dined for brunch and requested specific items to come first. We got those items almost 1.5 hours later only 10 minutes before last call. We constantly had to ask other waiters for assistance with various items as our requests were often forgot by our assigned server.
I love this brunch but I was disappointed this time with the service and experience. The brunch is billed to be bottomless food and drink for 2.5 hours with the last seating at 2:00pm. We sat down at 1:40pm and were told at 3:10 the kitchen was closed and it was last call for drinks...1.5 hours; not what we expected or paid for.
Perfect address for tapas in DC! The place is great as is the food (and cocktails)
Good food and excellent service.
Minor thing is that food is a little salty at least to me.
Feel pricey. Recommend lower the price given food quality.
Surprisingly good Spanish tapas; authentic. Gambas al ajillo not good though. Prawns frozen and garlic stale
Temperature was too hot. They eventually turned it down. Too bright for dinner. Not romantic at all.
The service left much to be desired. Our party of four had an early dinner reservation, arrived to nearly empty restaurant, and were crammed in an awkward corner adjacent to two other parties. We were presented with a full dinner menu and drink list, though the parties nearby all had happy hour menus (indeed, it was starting to feel like we were in the "happy hour" section of the restaurant). After flagging the server down from across the restaurant, we asked for a happy hour menu. We flagged him down again to order drinks. Essentially, it felt like there were expectations around what we would order based on the fact that we had reservations, which is understandable (and we ordered several dishes off of the full menu), but our seating and overall service was definitely calibrated to a happy hour situation.
Food and ambiance was nice...service, slow! Be patient and enjoy.
Very good! Service was very good and food was delicious
The food is amazing, service was prompt, and ambiance is great! Unfortunately I would not return based on the seating alone. I am 6ft fall and I could not sit on the seat without holding myself up. They are so shallow, no one in our party felt comfortable. We probably would have stayed much longer and ordered many more drinks had the seating been more comfortable.
Very tasty food and great service! Inside has a very updated/modern look, and the servers kept our drinks full and table full of food for bottomless brunch. Definitely going back.
Birthday Bottomless Brunch with three generations and we all loved it! Phillipe and Donatello along with the rest of the wait staff provided excellent service. We had more food and drinks than we could have imagined. Five choices for alcoholic beverages drinks - they kept them coming, switching as often as we liked. We all loved the iced vodka coffee. The Spanish beer was enjoyed as well. We had every item on the menu and enjoyed a repeat of several of the dishes. We took advantage of the full 2.5 hours and had a great time. It was a super experience and we will definitely be back with friends.
We made a reservation and arrived on time, but still had to wait for another 30 minutes for our table.
Food is always good and its always busy which is also a good sign. Happy hour still quite pricey.
The last time we dined here was about 3 years ago and I just recall the quality of the food being better. While our waitress was the saving grace of the evening, the restaurant also missed the mark in its selection of background music which, properly done can make an ordinary experience a bit more special. Flamenco, classical guitar, salsa even bacalao would have been better than the electronica mix which played LOUDLY during our dinner. The several tapas we had were good, not great and the shared TABLA DE QUESOS Y EMBUTIDOS was very good. While not an immersive experience given the music selection, it was a good evening.
The thing that’s tough during brunch is the drinks getting refilled in a timely fashion ( took more than 30 minutes just to get my drink refilled)and the fact that the waiter never made sure to see if we received all the requested tapas platters even after multiple attempts at ordering the food and we just gave up
We were a group of 3 seeking a non-turkey post Thanksgiving brunch. The tapas quality and selection were good and the drink glass remained filled. Erica was very attentive and fun. I would come here again.
Absolutely great place. Great tastes. Absolutely great people serving you, like old friends. Will miss it when I leave DC.
Really delicious brunch! Great fast service too. Totally worth it!
Was there with a group of six for lunch, so perhaps not a good basis for review. Range if needed tapas shared by the table. Good but not great across the board would be the general comment as compared with other tapas restaurants in DC and elsewhere
Filipe (sp) was an excellent server who went above and beyond to make my fiancée’s birthday dinner a success!
All the food was delicious, and the pitchers of Sangria were a good value.
Sooo good! Can't wait to try their brunch one day.
Kind of expensive, not my number one choice even though the food is good. You can get the same excellent quality in other spanish cuisine restaurants in DC
Eggplant and mushroom tapas were very tasty. The Charcuterie and Cheese board was delightful so were the Sangria and Red Wine suggested by our Server. Had a great evening celebrating a friend's birthday who loves tapas. Will be back again for sure!
While we enjoyed our meal at Boqueria, we wanted to give new patrons a heads up on a couple of things. The cocktails were just ok, nothing too inspired but we very much enjoyed the wine of the day (a petite Syrah that was delicious). The wait staff encourages 2 -3 menu items per person. This can be misleading since many portions are huge while others seemed just right.
There were 3 in our party - we started with a cheese platter that was really great -- however it could probably serve 4-5 so we kind of over did it on the cheese. And BTW - it came with tomato bread which was delicious, BUT 3 more of our dishes came with bread (maybe we ordered wrong). Next we had the coquets which were out of this world amazing. We had the lamb skewers (came on bread) which were just ok. Serving was 2 but they made it 3 for us. Next the dates wrapped in bacon we classically good. We tried the special brussel spouts which were very good (fit for 4 people) and the potatoes. The potato dish was great but could probably have served 5-6 in a typical tapas setting. We left half of it uneaten because there was so much. Lastly, the shrimp dish (came with bread) was really good. Split 2 well but could've squeezed 3 people.
Overall it was a good meal but I wished that the portions were a little more balanced. It's pretty loud there as well so keep that in mind if you dine with low-talkers ; )
I've had many friends tell me Boqueria was a great place to eat. But I never made it until the other day. Too bad I waited: it's a comfortable place to dine with a great menu and great food. I will be back.
The server was pleasant and helpful, but we were very overtly rushed. We had a bottle of wine and four tapas and the restaurant was not at all full: why would anyone bring the check when it was not asked for and then keep checking if we have put our money down? We even told the server when we arrived that we had not seen one another for a long time and planned on a long catch up.
Maybe the server was going to clock out - that still isn't a good reason, but at least it is a reason, and again there were multiple empty tables around us. Again, the food was great, the duck and octopus in particular, but it felt like we started the evening in a restaurant and ended it in a diner.
Friend visiting from New York. Everything was awesome from start to finish.
The resturant was very busy and lovely. Food was fine. Attention should be focused on service and keeping lavatories better.
The food and service were great. the chairs were completely uncomfortable.
Delicious food and great customer service. Friendly atmosphere.
When to their NYC lcation in the Village in August so we were expecting a similar Barcelona experience. Unfortunately tunately the menu was verly limited compared to the New York location and the wine prices were very high (very few choices under $45). The skate special tasted like they purchased it last Monday. No where close to challenging Jose Andes tapas restaurants in the area, except for the tons of single women eating together.
First of all, the entry was dark and difficult to see. Once we understood it, we entered a very nice restaurant and were seated. The primary restaurant has high tables with stools that are less than comfortable, but manageable. We ordered sangria, which was good, but a bit tart, not sweet like most sangria. The Tapas were EXCELLENT. The sangria was good but not as expected. The paella had crunchy rice - we prefer the saffron rice. for dessert, we had churros filled with nutella. All in all, the food was great, the service was great and the restaurant was very nice.
The staff was tremendous! So sweet and attentive. They definitely take great care of you while dining.
First visit we arrived about 1645 and had a table reservation for 1700. Hostess would not seat us at a table, made us sit at a small bar table for 15 minutes. We sat at the small tale and ordered a couple apps then at 1700 she moved us to a table but would not transfer the bill so I had to close out with the waitress in the bar before moving. The food and Beveridge were excellent but the customer service was a bit rigid and surly.
My wife and I are partial to tapas dining. With that in mind we weren't dissapointed with the selection and the fact that there were additional daily specials. One of the specials was a very pleasant surprise. The butternut squash grilled with yogurt sauce, recommended by our service...it was excellent. I am trying to figure out how to duplicate it at home
Expensive (the value for the food is not there) as well as loud, crowded seatings
Food was great, service was great. We sat outside & toward the end of our meal, we were almost attacked by bees.
Came here with my siblings- we had a blast and enjoyed the food, especially the nutella churros.
