Really delicious brunch! Great fast service too. Totally worth it!
Was there with a group of six for lunch, so perhaps not a good basis for review. Range if needed tapas shared by the table. Good but not great across the board would be the general comment as compared with other tapas restaurants in DC and elsewhere
Filipe (sp) was an excellent server who went above and beyond to make my fiancée’s birthday dinner a success!
All the food was delicious, and the pitchers of Sangria were a good value.
Sooo good! Can't wait to try their brunch one day.
Kind of expensive, not my number one choice even though the food is good. You can get the same excellent quality in other spanish cuisine restaurants in DC
Eggplant and mushroom tapas were very tasty. The Charcuterie and Cheese board was delightful so were the Sangria and Red Wine suggested by our Server. Had a great evening celebrating a friend's birthday who loves tapas. Will be back again for sure!
While we enjoyed our meal at Boqueria, we wanted to give new patrons a heads up on a couple of things. The cocktails were just ok, nothing too inspired but we very much enjoyed the wine of the day (a petite Syrah that was delicious). The wait staff encourages 2 -3 menu items per person. This can be misleading since many portions are huge while others seemed just right.
There were 3 in our party - we started with a cheese platter that was really great -- however it could probably serve 4-5 so we kind of over did it on the cheese. And BTW - it came with tomato bread which was delicious, BUT 3 more of our dishes came with bread (maybe we ordered wrong). Next we had the coquets which were out of this world amazing. We had the lamb skewers (came on bread) which were just ok. Serving was 2 but they made it 3 for us. Next the dates wrapped in bacon we classically good. We tried the special brussel spouts which were very good (fit for 4 people) and the potatoes. The potato dish was great but could probably have served 5-6 in a typical tapas setting. We left half of it uneaten because there was so much. Lastly, the shrimp dish (came with bread) was really good. Split 2 well but could've squeezed 3 people.
Overall it was a good meal but I wished that the portions were a little more balanced. It's pretty loud there as well so keep that in mind if you dine with low-talkers ; )
I've had many friends tell me Boqueria was a great place to eat. But I never made it until the other day. Too bad I waited: it's a comfortable place to dine with a great menu and great food. I will be back.
The server was pleasant and helpful, but we were very overtly rushed. We had a bottle of wine and four tapas and the restaurant was not at all full: why would anyone bring the check when it was not asked for and then keep checking if we have put our money down? We even told the server when we arrived that we had not seen one another for a long time and planned on a long catch up.
Maybe the server was going to clock out - that still isn't a good reason, but at least it is a reason, and again there were multiple empty tables around us. Again, the food was great, the duck and octopus in particular, but it felt like we started the evening in a restaurant and ended it in a diner.
Friend visiting from New York. Everything was awesome from start to finish.
The resturant was very busy and lovely. Food was fine. Attention should be focused on service and keeping lavatories better.
The food and service were great. the chairs were completely uncomfortable.
Delicious food and great customer service. Friendly atmosphere.
When to their NYC lcation in the Village in August so we were expecting a similar Barcelona experience. Unfortunately tunately the menu was verly limited compared to the New York location and the wine prices were very high (very few choices under $45). The skate special tasted like they purchased it last Monday. No where close to challenging Jose Andes tapas restaurants in the area, except for the tons of single women eating together.
First of all, the entry was dark and difficult to see. Once we understood it, we entered a very nice restaurant and were seated. The primary restaurant has high tables with stools that are less than comfortable, but manageable. We ordered sangria, which was good, but a bit tart, not sweet like most sangria. The Tapas were EXCELLENT. The sangria was good but not as expected. The paella had crunchy rice - we prefer the saffron rice. for dessert, we had churros filled with nutella. All in all, the food was great, the service was great and the restaurant was very nice.
The staff was tremendous! So sweet and attentive. They definitely take great care of you while dining.
First visit we arrived about 1645 and had a table reservation for 1700. Hostess would not seat us at a table, made us sit at a small bar table for 15 minutes. We sat at the small tale and ordered a couple apps then at 1700 she moved us to a table but would not transfer the bill so I had to close out with the waitress in the bar before moving. The food and Beveridge were excellent but the customer service was a bit rigid and surly.
My wife and I are partial to tapas dining. With that in mind we weren't dissapointed with the selection and the fact that there were additional daily specials. One of the specials was a very pleasant surprise. The butternut squash grilled with yogurt sauce, recommended by our service...it was excellent. I am trying to figure out how to duplicate it at home
Expensive (the value for the food is not there) as well as loud, crowded seatings
Food was great, service was great. We sat outside & toward the end of our meal, we were almost attacked by bees.
Came here with my siblings- we had a blast and enjoyed the food, especially the nutella churros.
Delicious lunch (the squid/octopus "fish and chips")! We were in a hurry and the service was welcoming and prompt. This was a Very Tasty choice. Fried but not greasy, spicy batter, not too heavy, two great sauces (aioli and a red salsa) salad and pickled peppers to cut the fried mouth feel. Crispy, generous portion. We enjoyed our selves.
Boqueria is near my office, so a good go-to for a tasty lunch. Service has been uneven, but the tapas are delicious. The grilled octopus is especially tasty, as in the pan con tomato.
Great place for drinks and the small plates were delicious. The Nutella filled churros were the best dessert by far.
We sat outside, and it was a great evening for it. The bees were a small issue, but they were just curious. So all good!
Consistently great food and good service! A true favorite.
Great value for "bottomless brunch" but the menu was much more limited than their usual tapas listings. No croquetas in the bottomless brunch menu :(
I went here once 5 years ago and forgot about it until I walked through the doors again recently. I now know why I forgot. It looks good online but it’s actually nothing special. The menu isn’t very diverse. The food was good but not amazing, which is what I expected for the cost. I would skip it, there’s plenty of extraordinary tapas restaurants out there.
Great dinner, food and service were terrific!
We went for Sunday brunch. There is unlimited small plates and mimosas/sangrias. You can't go wrong. We tasted the entire menu, twice. I didn't love the French toast, but everything else was amazing. I didn't eat dessert. Everyone from the hostess to the runner was friendly and helpful. Our server was fantastic. He helped us through the menu and seamlessly accommodated our friends that arrived several minutes late.
Finally an AYCE brunch place where quantity doesn't compromise quality. Baqueria makes me wish more restaurants adopted the tapas concept. Ordered dishes arrive promptly. While the bottomless menu isn't extensive, it does provide enough variety to keep the palate engaged and interested.
Parking is the greatest challenge as is with most restaurants in the District but once settled, Baqueria is a wonderful escape. The two and a half hour limit is more than adequate to pace oneself and still get your fill of wonderful bites.
Love it there!!! Best tapas the best paeyas !!!
Awful waiter who did not give our table, who all ordered the endless brunch , everything we ordered. I paid $40+ for an endless and bottomless brunch and didn't get at least 3-4 plates ordered by the table. I pushed the waiter on why some items were taking so long and he snapped right back and me saying "things take time with the kitchen." This is over 1hr since the initial order. Boqueria you need to make sure service is on par when people are spending that much for endless brunch. It would have been cheaper and more filling to just order a normal entree than to have messed with this lie of a brunch. Never coming back to this establishment.
From brunch to dinner, I've never had a bad meal at Boqueria.
Great meal! The cheese plate was fantastic! The shrimp and lamb meatballs were amazing as usual!
Been to Boqueria many times between dinner and brunches and have to say that although the food and ambiance is good, this time the service seemed slow at first and the brunch menu dwindling in choices for being a tapas bottomless set up. In this way, it's slipping against the comparison of similar Mediterranean options such as Cava and Ambar.
Boqueria makes the best French Toast in DC! They have a great bottomless deal.
My experience at Boqueria was great but not as great in service as the last time I came with a large group of friends. My partner and I were seated in a timely manner but it took almost 8 minutes to be greeted by the server. Most importantly there was a single diner seated next to use and was greeted before use and we were there before him. The rest of the experience was great, from the timing of the food to how great the food and drinks were.
Excellent prix fixe brunch with fantastic service.
I was a bit nervous to do tapas for brunch since it’s small plates but it was excellent. It’s not the typical brunch buffet where you have to go and pick your food, they continuously bring food to you so you can stay seated and enjoy your company. You never have to wait long for the next dish to come out. I would definitely do brunch here again.
