The sum of the parts didn’t add up to a whole. Food was ok - my duck was like fried chicken on a dogs breakfast of potatoes and frisée with an overly vinegar tasting dressing. My wife’s lobster risotto was good but the portion was really small - it’s rice, not truffles. Our waiter was attentive but time between courses was unnecessarily drawn out. At the end of the night we reflected that there are much better $200 meals and experiences to be had in Chicago. Doubt we will return.
Nice restaurant for the neighborhood. Low key and not trying to impress. You can actually hold a conversation. Sensational seared foie.
Will definitely visit this restaurant again. I enjoyed both the dinner menu and the wine list. I thoroughly enjoyed their selection of music and the atmosphere of the restaurant.
We had a wonderful meal with great service. Enjoyed the nice atmosphere, and it was relatively quiet for conversation...We will be back !
On two recent visits for lunch, I truly enjoyed the food and ambiance.
We had the special rib-eye for 2 ($101.00) and it was probably the best steak we both have had in the city. The way the meat was cured was fantastic. Our table also had sea scallops and they were cooked to perfection. Wait staff attention was perfect and thank goodness the noise level was perfect also, so we could all have a conversation that everyone could hear without shouting. This is not the place to come for a bargain meal. It is a place to go for a wonderful meal where your evening will be perfect. It was my birthday and they treated me to a fabulous dessert. Take a trip down memory lane when you go downstairs see how many faces you know or remember. For those who remember the Pump Room, you'll enjoy yourself. I'd recommend Booth One to everyone.
Very limited menu, especially the appetizers. Staff was very nice and service was good. Food was tasty but pricey for what was served. Don’t know if we will be back.
Posh historic atmosphere, original tasty food, outstanding service
Outstanding service- very attentive to our dietary needs. Lovely atmosphere in a very beautiful hotel. Highly recommended
Everything great! Wonderful night!
My husband and I went to BoothOne of our anniversary dinner. We use to go to the Pump Room quite frequently. We like what they have done with the bar area. Our meal was outstanding. The truffled eggs were delicious, my dover sole was outstanding and both of our sides were very very good. We asked our server about a piece of cake we saw someone else eating and she brought for us at the end of our meal! Great surprise. We were greeted with Happy Anniversary. Our entire experience was elevated by our server Lynne. She was outstanding. So personable and just great service and great interaction. We will ask for her when we return and we will be returning soon.
It was our 3yr anniversary!! We both had a fabulous time and such a great experience. Thank you
From the cocktails to the appetizer to the main course. I can’t say enough good things about the restaurant. It’s a great experience for not a lot of $. And the coconut chocolate cake was just amazing.
Upscale cocktail or dining . Very attentive servers. Ambience is interesting and lovely. Still kept character of Pump Room but updated . I had the Lobster Risotto and it was wonderful. Highly recommend. Bartendar was exoerienced mixologist. Scene was lively and welcoming.
Awesome service and food!
El loca es encantador el servicio profesional muy agradable , la comida exquisita .
Great hospitality and service! Loved the old time celeb photos
Mostly okay, with one glaring exception. Wine was good, my wife enjoyed her ceviche and sea bass, and I my Booth One salad, but prices are on the high side and my filet was very disappointing. I never send anything back. However, the $37.95 first filet at medium rare seemed charred and dry to the consistency of a hockey puck. I sent it back and asked for something more rare and received another that was not a great deal better. Server was apologetic and comped desserts, which helped, but I don't think I'll be ordering filet here again anytime soon.
The atmosphere, service, food and decor were all top knotch. I really enjoyed this place and will definitely go again.
Amazing food. Great service. Not cheap.
Lovely menu. It reminded us of my youth.
We’ve been frequent diners of the Pump Room, so when I found out that LEYE bought it out I was incredibly excited. LEYE has fantastic restaurants that we’ve been going to for years. Needless to say, Booth One was not a memorable experience. The server was pleasant at the beginning when we sat down, but the drinks took forever to get to the table and after our food was delivered, he vanished. Didn’t bother to check in, we had empty glasses at the table and the side we ordered didn’t arrive until we were all finished with our meals.
The food was good, but not worth the price. If we were going to drop $250 on brunch for 5, I would’ve much rather been at Mon Ami or Summer House.
Overall, it was just disappointing and I can’t say that we will return.
It was Easter brunch...we were excited to try the menu options listed on the website. There were no ricotta pancakes as advertised. They had run out of several other options. Dessert was a real disappointment. We wanted two of the menu listed options well you guessed it both were gone. Will not go again..ruined our dining experience.
We had Easter brunch here and it was a good fit for our family. It was their first ever brunch and I think they did a great job. Our waitress, Brandi, was super fun, especially with the kids.
We were told by our waiter (thank you Levi) that this was Booth One's first foray into the brunch scene and I would say they did a terrific job. The kids enjoyed their food so much that they barely spoke a word during the meal. And the four adults each had a different item and tastes where shared around the table. To top it all off, the Easter bunny was in the library and there were baskets to make and handmade marsh mellows for the kids. .. all in all, a lovely Easter celebration.
Went here on a date before a comedy show at Zanies a few blocks away in Old Town. The food was terrible. The filet my date ordered was under-cooked (admittedly, I wouldn't have ordered medium, but she did and Booth One failed to deliver) and the crispy duck tasted like re-heated overcooked chicken, if that's possible. With respect to service, when I asked the waiter for the fan favorites on the menu, he told me the specials and then ran through the entire menu. Lobster ceviche and potato side dish were good. Don't go here for anything but drinks.
We enjoyed our food (rack of lamb, fish prepared mediterranean style) but nothing grabbed us on the appetizer and salad list. A little disappointing in that regard. Service was excellent.
A wonderful place to celebrate a birthday! The service was outstanding, the food was so great, and it was so special.
Nice update of a classic location.
Return to the original duck
Very stuffy at first glance. Definitely catering to the older Gold Coast crowd. A bit pretentious. Service started out poor & we were not greeted for about 10 minutes & when we finally were it was strange & ubrupt. (It was lunchtime & totally dead inside.) Later, our server completely redeemed himself. We were offered two "tastes" of prosecco which was half a glass each & a comped entree. Very nice of our server. The expeditor/busser was fantastic.
The food portions are absolutely tiny. The food is very bland. Not bad, but pretty flavorless. I wouldn't come back even though I'm a LEY frequent diner. It was just unfortunate really. Would only go back for cocktails, which were excellent.
Very good food, excellent service, nice, relaxing atmosphere. They need art on the east wall.
Great food and great service in this reincarnation of the Pump Room.
The ambiance was calming and beautiful. The service was excellent and one could actually hear what one's dinner partner was saying. The noise level was very pleasant. Everything served was delicious. I will go back often so I can try everything on the menu!!!
Wendall was our waiter and both the food and service was outstanding. Love this restaurant
We received a coupon for a $25 off lunch and thought we should give Booth One a try.
Overall, we had a pleasant experience. The staff was very nice, though possible there wren't enough people working at lunch.
The reason I am saying this is because, even though our server was exceedingly pleasant, it took a long time for us to give our order. The hostess, ultimately came by and took our order, instead, because she could see that we were a little annoyed with waiting a good 15-20 minutes before our server returned to us.
Other than that, our twin mini-burgers were excellent and the orange creme brûlée was outstanding. The coffee, which came in a pot, was delicious and we appreciated the generous amount.
Just a very relaxing lunch. The lobster rissotto was to die for. The Brussels sprouts salad was delicious. We had the lemon napolian which was very refreshing
The lobster Louie salad and the tuna Niçoise salad were both outstanding. Very welcoming atmosphere and we can’t wait to come back.
The only thing extraordinary were the prices on the wine list.
The service was very attentive but the quality of the meal does not warrant a return visit.
We were seated promptly, our server, Lynn, was knowledgeable and helpful concerning description of entrees and sides. Our salads were outstanding both in taste, value, and presentation. The entrees and sides were delicious and the presentation was also in keeping with the ambiance. The bread service was so good that one of our party said there was no need to bring any food, just keep the bread coming. We noticed that portions were large, and it is definitely possible to share salads and sides. I would recommend Booth One to my friends living in the City, especially Near North and Water Tower area. We traveled twenty miles, but we are fortunate to have good venues locally. Our Family patronizes many LEYE restaurants. Oh, yes, I told Lynn that we were celebrating my childrens' 25th Anniversary. A large slice of cake was brought, and we all laughed because the plate had "Happy Birthday" written on it. No matter, it was a lovely gesture, but we were all so filled with food already, that only the teen in our party partook. Thank you Booth One!
