We had a great experience. We went to dinner with our three tired kids. Our server was excellent. He was friendly but not familiar. Helpful but never pressured us to make a decision. Knowledgeable but not snooty. He never seemed put out by our questions or requests. He was honestly the best server I have ever had. Our food was delicious - even the veggies. Everything came out hot. Our desserts were also delicious. I'm normally a chocolate lover but I went with the blueberry cobbler and it was amazing. We also had the chocolate molten cake and the blondie (without the sunday). Everyone loved their food. Everyone loved our server (my kids are all shy but they all told my husband and me that we should give him a good tip). Nothing I could suggest to improve. A++. Highly Recommend!
We had reservations to Boones for brunch. We arrived on time for our reservation and sat at the table for about 25 minutes before we even saw a server. We ordered our drinks which also took forever. Somebody kept coming over to refill our waters but we were not able to order through them. After sitting for an hour and only getting one drink we ended up going and asking if we could cash out. We left and went elsewhere. Also it was very cold in the restaurant. I think their only source of heat was a fire.
While the food and service were wonderful ...it was absolutely freezing in the restaurant. People around us had jackets and gloves on and there was a portable heater in the bathroom with freezing cold water when you washed your hands.
Great experience highly recommend. Owner very friendly staff was great
Our server Tyson was amazing! So kind and attentive. The food was good but not great. We would try again probably but not any time soon.
Tremendous restaurant, excellent ambiance, service, food and overall experience! Can't wait to go back!
Have eaten here several times. Have always enjoyed it. There was something wrong with the kitchen. My wife and I both got the seafood Newburgh. It tasted as though it were reheated from the prior day. Very little taste at all.We had to ask for bread. It came after the meal was delivered.
Food was really good but service was not so great. Waitress messed up a few things with food that was ordered. She also didn’t really check on us either. Would probably not go out of my way to come here again but it wasn’t awful.
Our meals were excellent and the service was very good. Tables were a little close together.
Was really looking forward to brunch. At 11 am they had no ham, no sausage, no strawberries. Husband ordered chicken and waffle. The waffle was supposed to be pear and bacon, it was not, it was plain. Had to waive to get more coffee. Overall, it was meh
I found this restaurant has a separate fryer for gf items. So I have ordered the fries on more than one occasion. The scallops appetizer is delicious. The scallops were perfectly cooked. Flavors and textures were complimentary in this dish.
The fish sandwich, without bun was my meal selection. Wonderfully cooked as well on grill to avoid cross contamination of gluten.
A party member ordered the swordfish and mashed potatoes with lobster. Thumbs up for swordfish, dense and delicious. Mashed potatoes were good and the lobster was tasty and not rubbery.
We live in Maine, so we go here for overall great tastes, not for the lobster as we have closer to home favorite places for that item.
The lobster always looks great and am confident it is cooked properly.
No desert this visit as we were more than satisfied with our meal. We will be back, for our third visit for next Portland visit.
Lindsay was great as always. One of the main reasons we come to Boones!
Phenomenal and will definitely be back! Staff was super friendly and wonderful!
Fabulous service, food was delicious. They go out of their way to make the guest's experience a good one. The chef made my son a special dish on request for his birthday. It was perfect. The staff are all genuine and attentive. Thanks!
Wonderful place a bit off the trodden path... awesome spot next to the live fire... warm & inviting. Only issue is that this is a pricey venue when it comes to specials. Great staff. Great food.
Food and service were terrible
Delicious, but a bit overpriced for the portion size! Would go back and be more careful about what I order
It’s a beautiful restaurant, and the view is superb. Service was fine, but not great. We had to repeatedly ask for serving spoons for shared dishes, extra plates, and drink refills. The food quality is outstanding but portions are on the smaller side. This is an excellent spot for someone visiting the area or for a very special occasion.
Our service was fantastic and the food was so good!
The only flaw we were 6 people and waiter brought two plates then 10 mins later 2 plates d
Last two another 5 mins so the first d send couples had cold food - and it was a bit cold in the restaurant
Our waiter, Tyson, was fabulous. The food was phenomenal. Loved the atmosphere, especially the cozy fireplace. Would definitely go again next time I’m in the area.
Ownership is going through a divorce and tough times so things have gone downhill at all the rooms.
It was very busy on Christmas Eve, and the server did the best she could (we did wait for a lot of things, and had to ask for a lot of things, lots of reminders for things that were promised) but all in all it was ok. I thought the food was above average, but kind of expected more, especially at the price points (I expect a certain price level for seafood but everything was priced about $5-10 more than what it should have been / was worth). It would be interesting to come back at another time to see if it were different.
Nice waterfront restaurant it as usual - lobster prices very high. Quality was very good. Oysters were delicious!
Visited for Christmas Eve dinner. Decorations were tasteful and festive, and there was a comforting fire in the beautiful fireplace. The food was absolutely spectacular, and service was great, considering how busy they were. I will definitely be back, hopefully in the summer so I can enjoy the outdoor seating on the deck.
Back under new management! Boone's declined over the past year. Service was very poor, especially at the bar. We had nearly stopped coming. However, now the owner is back in the game and taking care of things herself. They have done a 180 and are as good as they ever were. Great place to eat, drink and have a good time.
I’ve been to a lot of seafood joints in my day but this one topped them all! The food was amazing! Highly recommend!
Excellant. Best burger ever. Asked for it warm rare and there were no questions. Seldom happens in Maine restaurants.
Excellent food! Jerry was our waiter and was fantastic!
Made a lunch reservation and on a cold, windy day we were thrilled to be seated near the fireplace!!! Food and service were excellent!
Dinner with friends. It was very loud, so hard to hear the waiter. He was fine but new and didn’t know everything on the menu. Cold draft from the door wasn’t too pleasant. Dessert was good.
Very cold and the aircon was blowing at us! Got us sick! Food was ok but nothing for a second time!
On a Saturday night a colleague and I enjoyed a delicious dinner over relaxed conversation about our shared work and friendship. For three hours we sat and enjoyed ourselves, without any harassment or even slight pressure from the staff to hurry up and free up the table. We'd reserved on Open Table, and our table was ready when we got there.
We were a party of 6. 4 of us ordered oysters and we had just gotten them when our dinner was brought. We asked them to take it away so that we could finish our oysters. When they brought it back, most of our dinners were cold. My husband's scampi was very bland and unseasoned. My son in law's steak was cold to the touch. The vegetables on my daughter in law's plate were cold. My son ordered a Caesar Salad and was told the anchovies were an upcharge (which makes no sense in a Caesar Salad. For the prce we paid we all were extremely disappointed and will not return.
The stuffed lobster is amazing. It is a bit pricey but one of the best seafood dishes I have had. It is stuffed with lobster meat, scallops and haddock - very little filler. Would definitely recommend the restaurant and the dish.
Met up with my parents who rarely get to come to Portland and they LOVED it!
It was not a loud / overly busy night but noise level can be problem @ Boone’s
The scallops special was delicious!
Restaurant needs to update online menu. Online menu shows Beef Wellington, but it was not on the actual menu when we arrived. A hanger steak is no substitute. Even the steak and frites would have been a better choice than the hanger steak. As a non-seafood eater, menu needs a few more choices. My dining partner quite enjoyed the Raw Bar Platter.
Friendly, accommodating and really good tasting food
