Good food, good service
Adam was a great host! Classic New England restaurant by the water with good food and great service. Skip the specialty cocktails and order some local beers. Cheers.
The atmosphere was nice and the service was good, however the food was just average. Not on par with restaurants in the area.
We’ve always had a good meal at Boone’s, but haven’t had brunch until now! Great food and good prices. We will be back.
We went for brunch and it was great! Super clean and the tables are spread out.
The popovers for brunch benny's are just amazing. I couldn't eat it all, but I had the crab cake benny and wow. There's a little punch of lemon in the crab cakes that pops through the egg and popover which is a refreshing part of the dish. My husband had the eggs and hash and cleaned the entire plate.
There is an outside area with tons of space and space heaters, but it was a bit too cold for us. Great puppy watching spot though. Lots of puppies on the patio.
I would recommend it to a friend. Nice atmosphere, great service
ask for adam at the bar - sit back and relax - simply an enjoyable experience
A good portion of the menu was not available, and became very quickly a consistent throughout our experience that when we asked for something the waitress had to come back and apologize for the restaurant not having it. The waitress was very friendly and accommodating. I would say that overall the food was good, but most likely would not try it again, especially with all the other options in the local area. I would not hold the negative experience I had against the restaurant though, because my party dined on a Monday afternoon after the first nice weekend during covid. Restaurant was just not prepared to replenish from their previous weekend.
It was Sunday evening after an extremely busy day and several menu items were sold out. Good for them!! The waitress was tired, but very helpful and overall we had a great experience and the food was wonderful. We shall return on another trip to Portland.
Our food was fantastic! Highly recommend! Our waitress was very nice but we had to keep asking her for things she forgot.
We ordered fried Brussel Sprouts which were amazing, a dozen oysters which were great but they gave a minimal amount of cocktail sauce which was annoying, and the baked stuffed lobster with a minimal amount of butter. All I can think of is that the kitchen staff was given a talking to for not over serving condiments.
So service is a 3 stars but food five stars!
Food was delicious and our waitress was great, only problem was that our brunch took 45 min to get to our table. Would visit again.
Fantastic time! Stuffed lobster is great for sharing. Brussels sprouts were great. Oysters are legendary.
Really warm ambiance. Fire places, low lighting, quiet. Perfect for date night or if you just want some awesome oysters.
The food was pretty decent but they brought the appetizers and the main courses out at the same time. As a result, it was not a relaxing experience.
Went for Happy Hour, so good. Amazing food, value and service. Excellent waiter.
Serve was Awesome! Feel bad I forget his name! Oysters were phenomenal with zero shell dust!
Excellent! The outdoor igloo was clutch during a March snow squall!
Our server, Elise, was fantastic, super sweet and helpful, we loved our meals and the ambiance was nice and cozy. Would definitely recommend and will be going back!
Waited for over an hour for food -
Had a nor’easter lobster roll which was clearly made from frozen lobster as it had no taste. Disappointing to sat the least.
Great service, great food, pleasant atmosphere!
Outdoor seating was great! Chowder was excellent!
Had a reservation, seated immediately. The food is always excellent. Clam chowder, seafood Newberg, fish sandwich and great wine. Staff and service are excellent. One meal was under the Maine Restaurant Week menu and we brought the cheesecake with blueberry sauce home. Great food!
Maine Restaurant Week & both wife & I’s birthday month
All the food was great. We will be back.
Stopped in a Sunday morning en route home from a ski trip. Had an amazing Bloody Mary loaded with goodies - oyster for me, and lobster claw for my husband! We each got a lobster roll, which was delicious as well. Our bartender Ethan was so friendly and service was exceptional. $100 (before tip) seemed a bit high for 2 lobster rolls and 2 bloody Mary’s, but overall we were definitely happy we stopped in.
they were so busy - we didn’t get served for over 1 hour. Arrived at 7:30 and didn’t get our first course until 9pm.
Best blackened salmon I ever had!
Really nice people, super nice people. But the service was slow, food not memorable, appetizers arrived without napkins or utensils. Had to ask. Caesar salad wet, no flavor hardly any dressing lots of crazy breadcrumbs on top (?). I think this place would be great for happy hour and maybe some appetizers. They had a cool igloo like situation outside for the cold. Looked really fun. As I said super nice people, but we probably won’t be back
It was freezing inside the restaurant because they were seating people outside and would leave the door open. It also seemed chaotic with everyone running around - it seemed under staff but Paul our server was awesome.
Loved the service, the food and the ambience! Such a lovely experience!
Noise level was terrible. It was difficult to have a conversion because of the table next to us with 6 men talking at the same time. The food was excellent but the timing was too long between courses.
We came for Maine Restaurant Week because Boone's has long been a favorite of ours. We considered eating outside in one of their sheltered/heated options, but decided to eat inside in the main dining room. We felt very comfortable with their adherence to Covid-19 precautions - everyone in face coverings, good distance between tables and parties, etc.
The food was excellent. I enjoyed the MRW menu and had ceasar salad, blackened salmon, and the lava cake. My spouse had a popover and the filet mignon. Everything was cooked perfectly and we enjoyed our evening.
Located on a wharf in Portland, Boone's has great ambience for those who, like us, enjoy a casual atmosphere with fabulous food. Popovers are on the menu, what more can I say? The homemade blueberry jam that they serve with them is truly amazing and I wish they would sell it in big jars. Met the owner because we had a new server who was a bit slow and she came over to check on us. My drink was very late in arriving and the owner (wish I knew her name) came over and brought it to me with an apology and she paid for it. All of our food was fantastic and we can't wait to come back to ME to stop by! Highly recommend!!!
Oysters were delightful.. breakfast was standard.. great selection of Mimosas and bloody Mary's.. and service was spectacular.. (thanks Ethan) great overall experience!
Food is excellent, service is friendly and not overbearing but prompt. Great value in an excellent location!
Services was phenomenal.. kind, funny, and prompt. Great mimosa and bloody Mary selection and oysters are delicious!
My 4th or 5th time at boone's, this time on an enclosed outside deck. Again the food was tasty and service attentive, quick, and friendly.
Really nice place, great service, a little heavy on the price but enjoyed the experience.
I'm not too sure what to say here, I don't ever leave reviews for restaurants but me and my girlfriends experience was for sure a one a kind. We made reservations at Boones Fish House & Oyster Room for our 7 year anniversary at 3 pm SPECIFICALLY because we were excited to try their 5$ Proseccos & appetizers, and 1.25$ oysters. To start off our dinner experience, we had to wait over 10 minutes for a RESERVED table. We didn't really care to much about that to be honest though. We sat down & browsed through our menus & were ready to order after 5 minutes. Our server was very polite & took our first order of drinks, a dozen oysters, and an order of calamari. When she brought out our first set of drinks she took down the rest of our order. Our oysters came out but we never received our calamari until asking about them once our entrees had already been served. We then had to wait over 20 minutes for our second round of drinks that we had to ask for twice. Then to top it off our bill didn't include ANY of the happy hour specials. We had to mention it to our server then she corrected it PARTIALLY. She gave us 5$ proseccos, 5$ mussels, & never discounted the calamari like it is advertised on their happy hour menu. We felt like we had already asked twice for everything so we just paid our bill & went on our way. The one star is simply due to their food being good but we can't even understand how & why the service was the why it was. My girlfriend & I have both worked in the restaurant business & the service was not acceptable. Water wasn't refilled once, forgotten appetizer, reminded twice for drinks, & never fully compensated for the happy hour deals. Very sad experience for our anniversary :/
