   We were informed that our 5pm reservation ends at 6:45 by front desk. A rude rather than pleasant greeting Overpriced by glass wine Food lacks any pride of presentation. Both salads beet and burrata were 7/8 lettuce ( some even wilted). We expressed our disappointment - to deaf ears. This place is all about location and that’s it

    we now consider Boom and Batten one of the best restaurants in Victoria when we are entertaining out of town visitors. the food is great, the service very dependable, and the setting provides a great introduction to Victoria living.

    Food was amazing, staff were great! My father had a tough time hearing us from across the table. The bench style seating at our table was very uncomfortable. My back started to ache before our appetizers showed up.

    Loved the decor and design of the restaurant. But the portions of the food were relatively small for the price. It would be nice if they brought freshly baked bread to the table for an appetizer as some higher-end restaurants do that. Overall, the food tasted good, but the price wasn't worth it for the size.

    Excellent atmosphere and vibe. The appies and the burger were good. I ordered a ribeye and mushrooms and received a striploin and prawns. The server admitted she made a mistake and re-ordered my ribeye. She told me to munch on the striploin until my ribeye arrived. The striploin was over cooked and chewy. I ordered medium rare, this was medium well, so I only tried a few bites. My ribeye arrived after my wife finished eating, so she sat and watched me eat. The ribeye was also over cooked and chewy, medium well instead of medium rare. I was out for a nice date night with my wife and our experience was less then satisfying. What I believe should have happened when my wrongly ordered plate arrived is both plates should have been taken away and re-served together once both plates were ready. I did not appreciate my wife eating her meal alone, nor myself eating my meal alone after she was finished. Also, the red wine (Pinot noir) was too warm and should have been chilled a bit. Overall, the food and service were not up to our expectations. We will give it another try as it may have been an off night. Please contact me if you have any questions. Scott

    A very noisy, lively atmosphere. Food and service was good, but I really don’t like the music or TVs. Not good for intimate dining, but probably a better place to go with a large group.

    Have been to Boom and Batten before and liked it but this time was outstanding. Our cheerful and chatty server helped us choose a wine ( good) and was patient with our menu questions. She was quick to allow us to share two dishes and did bring us separate dinner plates when asked. The food, steak frites for the guys and shared salad and risotto dishes for us, were absolutely fabulous. The ambiance of waterfront dining with lovely table settings and views can not be beat. Prices were high but fair for what you get. Definitely will get our return business.

    Beautiful location and was a bit noisy but the food, drink and service outweighed anything that could be thought of as a negative (very busy thus lots of noise). Our server was awesome, the food was amazing and the portions were so big we struggled to finish (I brought some home!). The red sangria was the best I’ve ever had. Will definitely be back.
