Terrible service - waiting too long
The food was really great- I would like to see a wider selection but no complaints.
Our server was not very warm or informative. I was hoping for a higher end experience. The restaurant felt more like a club with specialty cocktails, instead of an upscale food and drink experience. I would visit again but there is definitely room for improvement with not a lot of effort.
Had a great experience - went for bourbon and some dinner. They had CYPB, so I had to have it. Food was very good too 😃
Avoid, the service was lackluster. The food just ok, better places in Federal Hill to try. Skip it.
Everything was great. The food was amazing and the ambiance was perfect..
Really great food and live music
Although we had a reservation, we were not informed ahead of time that we would not have a server to accommodate our party. We were seated but had to order our food and drinks directly from the bar. It was extremely inconvenient
The food at this spot is not worth eating. The meat in the chicken tacos was so dry it was like eating dust. The pot de creme I took home for my daughter was placed in a plastic container that smelled like spring onions. It was absolutely gross. I had wagyu steak which the chef overcooked. What a shame. I have to say the drinks were good but there are other places to go for interesting drinks and they actually have good food. The hummus was tasty so if you go try the drinks and stick to the hummus.
The food is always great, but the service was very slow. It took over two hours to get appetizers, entrees, and dessert even though the restaurant was mostly empty.
Everything here was just ok. We had a hard time reading the menu because it was really dark. The cocktails we ordered were spirit forward and sweet, so not very balanced. The food (small plates) was just ok, not spectacular. As an example, we ordered the duck fat fries, and they came with three dipping sauces---one was an aioli, one was ketchup, and one was mayonnaise. Not very creative. Overall, we were uninspired by our visit and are unlikely to return.
Wonderful experience from start to finish. Staff was welcoming and attentive, fòod was delicious and the drinks were complex and flavorful. Even the mocktail was so good, I forgot I was forgoing alcohol. Blue crab deviled eggs and watermelon brulee salad were fresh and fulfilling.
This place used to be a nice date night spot. Now it’s just a place to hang out in Fed.
Food, service, and drinks were fabulous! It was our first time and exceeded our expectations!
Menu items too exotic
Wish we got the name of our server but they were fantastic! Made amazing cocktails and suggestions on the menus that didn't steer us wrong. Thank you for the great service, we will be back!
I took my mom and sister here for Mother's Day, the restaurant was empty for the most part-we were the lone table. Our person was Jessica, she was the host, the server, and the bartender. She was lovely and queen of the up sell. All of her suggestions were spot on and delicious. She was very friendly but not invasive. Jessica was also very knowledgeable about the cocktails. We are definitely going back- it was good vibes and good food.
Took a coworker out on a weeknight. Staff took care of us and had fun along with us too
We had the pleasure of dining here this past Saturday. Our server, Sawyer was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and especially the whiskey selections. He guided us with ease and our entire experience was wonderful. The food is incredible and overall this was one of the best places we’ve been to in some time.
Wonderful food. Cocktails were top notch. Really nice live music. Highly suggest this place. We sat at the bar and really enjoyed ourselves.
Food was ok. Service was good albeit slow. Like the ambiance.
The menu is small but the food is all delicious. We ordered a few things to share and they were all very good. The food came fast. The chairs are comfortable. The staff is very accommodating. And of course the drinks are creative and tasty
Very limited menu but great place for drinks.
Probably not the ideal layout for a restaurant. A few tables for two and several large (community?) tables. Sitting at the bar is an option. There was a private party upstairs, so I have no idea how the layout is up there.
I highly recommend the food. The charred octopus was flavorful and perfectly charred. The main ingredient of the Banh Mi sandwich was the pork belly, which was well charred and flavorful, also.
The main negative I have is that the cocktails took a lo-o-ng time before they came to the table. This wasn't just our table. It was the same thing for the table next to us. There was one bartender, but it wasn't too busy. I'm not sure if the group upstairs affected the bar service downstairs. The food service was good. Again, the waiter has to help out upstairs.
Absolutely unbelievable. Our server was a highlight of the night. The upstairs lounge was extremely special. Cocktails made to perfection!
Upon arrival, even though we had a reservation, we were told to sit at a hightop community table and there were other tables available. Could not discern why they sat others at those 4 tops and not us, when we asked for them. When we asked again, they did offer us a table in the back which was clearing. That table was great! The bartenders and waiters were incredibly thoughtful, attentive and helpful. The food was great and the drinks were great. The noise level was fine till the band came and that was very loud and it was good that it was the tail end of the meal, because while the music sounded good, we wanted to talk. It was a great experience, I would recommend finding out what table you are reserving and also checking to see when bands are coming in so you can plan.
Bookmakers has been on our list to try for months now. The atmosphere was perfect, very warm and cozy on a cold winter night. The food and cocktails that we ordered were very good overall and were a decent value compared to other restaurants we considered. However, we felt very rushed from the beginning to end of the meal. The appetizers we ordered came out before our drinks and as soon as we finished the appetizers, our entrees were served right away. I could understand if the restaurant was crowded and they needed the table for other guests, but this was clearly not the case. Instead, we felt so hurried that we decided not to order another cocktail, which we definitely would have done if we had been served at a more leisurely pace. At the end of the meal, when we ordered a dessert with coffee, we were told that they did not have hot coffee, only cold brew that could be heated up. Needless to say, we decided against ordering dessert and decided to go elsewhere. Overall, our dining experience lasted 45 minutes for drinks, appetizers, and entrees. For what we paid for the meal, we were very disappointed that we were not given the time to enjoy it.
Our evening was exceptional. From the unique dishes to the craft cocktails to the live music. New favorite bar. Will return often.
Staff, food, and drinks were amazing. I will be visiting again.
We had an overall great experience. Food was very good and the cocktails were excellent! Definitely be back.
It was much darker than the inline pics, and almost empty fir a Fri night. The bar got a little busier as the night went on. Sadly about 1 hour in, a loudmouth plopped down next to us at the bar and we couldn’t hear each other talk after that, eventually causing us to just leave.
There were 2 bartenders. One was incredibly condescending, for example when asked about the bourbons in our drinks. Each question about the 6 different drinks and the bourbon flight was answered with, “it’s a house secret.?!?! Not awesome fir a cocktail bar that markets itself as creative and for the more knowledgable cocktail enthusiast. The other bartender was pretty oblivious to everything - gave wrong info about the food on the menu, and generally came off as ditzy.
The hostess was snoozing or texting the entire time we were there which I guess is understandable given the lack of patrons. Food was ok. Nothing special.
Bookmakers was nice. A big drawback was they overbooked with reservations so we had to sit at the bar. I was a little annoyed because it was NYE but we decided to stay anyway, because there probably weren’t any other restaurants with space. I also thought the menu would have more selections, like on Yelp. But the food was good!
Great cocktails, I'm not a big whiskey drinker and I absolutely loved this spot. Great for dates and I definitely will be coming back!
We came celebrate our 6 month anniversary. We loved the atmosphere and drinks were great!
Great place for drinks
Came to Bookmakers to celebrate my birthday with friends. This is my second time at Bookmakers and it is just like I remembered from my visit over two years ago... Great Drinks, Good Food and Wonderful Service. Our server recommended some great drinks (Langosta, Typhoon, Ivy League Dropout, Old Fashioned and Cross Street) and I enjoy every single drink. My favorite drink of the night was the Typhoon. Our table split a few of the small plates (Avocado Toast, Crab Dip, Tex Mex Rolls, Bar Wings, Deviled Eggs and Fried Cauliflower) and the one that stood out the most to me was the Tex-Mex Rolls. For dinner I got the Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Veggies(Zucchini), my only complaint about the dish was the steak was very under seasoned but luckily my server went in the kitchen and put together an amazing sauce for me to dip my steak in and that saved the dish. Overall I enjoyed my night at Bookmakers and will be back soon.
The cocktail list and bourbon selection is extensive. Our server Michelle was amazing, gave us alot of good suggestions on both cocktails and food. The upstairs area if opened is very nice, has a very "speakeasy" setting.
Our experience from start to finish in one word...PHENOMENAL!!! The drinks were fantastic - every food item we ordered seemed to top the next. The menu items ranged from familiar favorites like amazing crab cakes or steak with mashed potatoes to fantastically unusual pesto zucchini noodles with grilled chicken and fried sriracha cauliflower. Just when we thought we couldn't be happier - along came their amazing pies. The atmosphere was so fun with comfortable seating and a gorgeous bar. Then to top everything off was our check - we just couldn't believe that with all our cocktails, entrees, appetizers and desserts (along with after dinner drinks) our bill was under $250.00 for a party of six (tip included). Don't miss this gem if you want a fun, delicious, affordable and memorable night out on the town near Inner Harbor.
It was a great restaurant but the service was waitress was horrible. She did not want to wait on us and it was apparent.
