Bookmakers Cocktail Club
Absolutely unbelievable. Our server was a highlight of the night. The upstairs lounge was extremely special. Cocktails made to perfection!
Upon arrival, even though we had a reservation, we were told to sit at a hightop community table and there were other tables available. Could not discern why they sat others at those 4 tops and not us, when we asked for them. When we asked again, they did offer us a table in the back which was clearing. That table was great! The bartenders and waiters were incredibly thoughtful, attentive and helpful. The food was great and the drinks were great. The noise level was fine till the band came and that was very loud and it was good that it was the tail end of the meal, because while the music sounded good, we wanted to talk. It was a great experience, I would recommend finding out what table you are reserving and also checking to see when bands are coming in so you can plan.
Bookmakers has been on our list to try for months now. The atmosphere was perfect, very warm and cozy on a cold winter night. The food and cocktails that we ordered were very good overall and were a decent value compared to other restaurants we considered. However, we felt very rushed from the beginning to end of the meal. The appetizers we ordered came out before our drinks and as soon as we finished the appetizers, our entrees were served right away. I could understand if the restaurant was crowded and they needed the table for other guests, but this was clearly not the case. Instead, we felt so hurried that we decided not to order another cocktail, which we definitely would have done if we had been served at a more leisurely pace. At the end of the meal, when we ordered a dessert with coffee, we were told that they did not have hot coffee, only cold brew that could be heated up. Needless to say, we decided against ordering dessert and decided to go elsewhere. Overall, our dining experience lasted 45 minutes for drinks, appetizers, and entrees. For what we paid for the meal, we were very disappointed that we were not given the time to enjoy it.
Our evening was exceptional. From the unique dishes to the craft cocktails to the live music. New favorite bar. Will return often.
Staff, food, and drinks were amazing. I will be visiting again.
We had an overall great experience. Food was very good and the cocktails were excellent! Definitely be back.
It was much darker than the inline pics, and almost empty fir a Fri night. The bar got a little busier as the night went on. Sadly about 1 hour in, a loudmouth plopped down next to us at the bar and we couldn’t hear each other talk after that, eventually causing us to just leave.
There were 2 bartenders. One was incredibly condescending, for example when asked about the bourbons in our drinks. Each question about the 6 different drinks and the bourbon flight was answered with, “it’s a house secret.?!?! Not awesome fir a cocktail bar that markets itself as creative and for the more knowledgable cocktail enthusiast. The other bartender was pretty oblivious to everything - gave wrong info about the food on the menu, and generally came off as ditzy.
The hostess was snoozing or texting the entire time we were there which I guess is understandable given the lack of patrons. Food was ok. Nothing special.
Bookmakers was nice. A big drawback was they overbooked with reservations so we had to sit at the bar. I was a little annoyed because it was NYE but we decided to stay anyway, because there probably weren’t any other restaurants with space. I also thought the menu would have more selections, like on Yelp. But the food was good!
Great cocktails, I'm not a big whiskey drinker and I absolutely loved this spot. Great for dates and I definitely will be coming back!
We came celebrate our 6 month anniversary. We loved the atmosphere and drinks were great!
Great place for drinks
Came to Bookmakers to celebrate my birthday with friends. This is my second time at Bookmakers and it is just like I remembered from my visit over two years ago... Great Drinks, Good Food and Wonderful Service. Our server recommended some great drinks (Langosta, Typhoon, Ivy League Dropout, Old Fashioned and Cross Street) and I enjoy every single drink. My favorite drink of the night was the Typhoon. Our table split a few of the small plates (Avocado Toast, Crab Dip, Tex Mex Rolls, Bar Wings, Deviled Eggs and Fried Cauliflower) and the one that stood out the most to me was the Tex-Mex Rolls. For dinner I got the Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Veggies(Zucchini), my only complaint about the dish was the steak was very under seasoned but luckily my server went in the kitchen and put together an amazing sauce for me to dip my steak in and that saved the dish. Overall I enjoyed my night at Bookmakers and will be back soon.
The cocktail list and bourbon selection is extensive. Our server Michelle was amazing, gave us alot of good suggestions on both cocktails and food. The upstairs area if opened is very nice, has a very "speakeasy" setting.
Our experience from start to finish in one word...PHENOMENAL!!! The drinks were fantastic - every food item we ordered seemed to top the next. The menu items ranged from familiar favorites like amazing crab cakes or steak with mashed potatoes to fantastically unusual pesto zucchini noodles with grilled chicken and fried sriracha cauliflower. Just when we thought we couldn't be happier - along came their amazing pies. The atmosphere was so fun with comfortable seating and a gorgeous bar. Then to top everything off was our check - we just couldn't believe that with all our cocktails, entrees, appetizers and desserts (along with after dinner drinks) our bill was under $250.00 for a party of six (tip included). Don't miss this gem if you want a fun, delicious, affordable and memorable night out on the town near Inner Harbor.
It was a great restaurant but the service was waitress was horrible. She did not want to wait on us and it was apparent.
Live music is a great idea, but in such a small space, the volume was way too high. I was forced to scream just to be heard by my date.
Service was also slow due to apparent understaffing.
Great restaurant. We will be back. The food was fantastic and the service was great.
Dark, dank and delicious
Drinks & service were amazing.
Service was wonderful. Food was pretty good except the crab dip, it was brown and tasted burnt. Other then that it was very nice.
Dan, the owner-cocktail master, is super-friendly and a master at the creative quaff. I have visited this little place twice and have had a lovely and memorable experience both times.
I celebrated my birthday at Bookmakers Cocktail Club with a group of friends and we had an amazing time! The cocktails were creative and delicious, and the comfort food was the perfect complement. Dan and Maria were extremely friendly and accommodating, and I can’t wait to enjoy another meal in the near future.
The food was excellent and the bar tender was phenomenal! Best cocktails I've had.
The drinks were awesome! There was a very good drink menu. The band was excellent - we really enjoyed ourselves that night.
Overall Bookmakers won us over on their drinks, they were the shining star here.
The food was average but we didn't think it was worth the price tag for just being ok.
Even though the drinks average around $12, they were well worth the cost as they were well put together and contained different and exciting ingredients.
Would go back for happy hour at the bar.
Phenomenal food and service. Only minus was the noise level of the band. They were extremely talented, but too loud for the venue size.
Very pleased with how the staff of Bookmakers made our dinner extra special. I had reserved a table using Open Table and requested that my boyfriend and I each have a glass of their Prosecco dropped by our table upon seating since this was a surprise celebration dinner I was taking my boyfriend to. They handled this special request seamlessly and he felt extra special! We opted to order several of their plates and share everything like a tapas meal. Their selections were unique and delicious! Thank you once again to Open Table and Bookmakers. We will definitely be back!
This place is super cute, however their bar selection is practically nothing, and ironically it’s a “ cocktail” Bar. They didn’t even have the ingredients to make a old fashioned.
Love the look of this bar. The cocktails and bartenders were great. We also had burgers in their very nice upstairs space, and they were delicious. We were about to leave, but then a jazz group (Jazzfluenza) was setting up, so we stayed and really enjoyed their performance.
Another outstanding evening at one of our favorite Baltimore spots. Outstanding food, and BEST Bar in city!
First experience here was Perfect good spot good music good food good scence
Bookmakers is a completely different spot over all the normal bars on Cross St. in Federal Hill. On what we assumed was a normal or somewhat average night crowd wise, there were only two servers/bartenders in total. Although friendly and always with a smile, both seemed to not care of response times or to even notice it took 30 minutes just to put in our drink order. Several times we had to reach out to the server to ask if we could order. Maybe that's the vibe they want to give off but again the two servers seemed happy and content and had no clue of the time of service. Otherwise it's a great spot and something different. We had several apps and all six of us thought the food was great. All drinks we tasteful as well.
Hopefully they were understaffed but that seemed unlikely, I'll go back to see if it can be ran better or if it is what it is...
The food was disappointing. Perhaps it was an off night since it was much better the last time we were there.
Cocktails were beautiful ad delicious. You could tell that the bartender created them with care. He was much more attentive than our actual server. It was not busy - maybe 4 tables of people total? The food was really not great. It reminded us of the same quality of food you would get at a wedding. Not horrible but really didn't wow us, which is what I expect considering their price points. The soup and food temperature was very lukewarm. My crab cake was dry and the steak was not cooked as asked. The consistency of the potatoes were as if they were made from a box, you know... the powder kind. The beignets were good and decor was cool. Overall, just really not impressed at all.
The band was fantastic! (Jazzffluenza)
We didn’t have any food, just drinks - the drinks were great!!
Hostess was rude, just seemed like she was doing us a favor by assisting us. Also just seemed to be overly casually dressed for a nicer place.
The only gripes I would have was from one waiter. I felt rushed in our meal. I also ordered an old fashioned during happy hour but when we got the check saw that I was charged regular price. The waiter told me that I had to specify that which I didn't quite understand if I was looking at a happy hour menu. The bill was adjusted but still weird. The good was amazing! The drinks were amazing! And really the one waiter was still nice and the other was awesome! Highly recommend.
Our waitress was very attentive, the restaurant itself is very unique, cocktail menu is really large (they have a big selection of whiskey). We went for restaurant week so we felt our meal was worth the price but their regular menu can be expensive. I didn't think the crab cake was good, you could tell not fresh crab. would definitely recommend the pimento cheese dip as an app!
It was freezing in the restaurant which made the food go cold really quickly and I like my food piping hot, so that was disappointing but the flavors were there.
