Another outstanding dinning experience at Bonterra, Service was outstanding from the time we arrived at the most friendly Valet service in Charlotte until the time that we left 3 hrs. later. Bartender is the most efficient in town and while she was extremely busy because of Valentines day she was pleasant and very attentive to service you. Our table was delivered on time the waitress was very friendly & professional. Meal was served promptly and the food was once again outstanding. My thanks to Bonterra for knowing how to manage reservations and for making our evening so enjoyable. See you soon.
Had a 7:15 reservation, we arrived on time and it took until 9:51 to get to the dessert. The service was abysmal. The food wasn’t terrible but it was overpriced. I had a ribeye steak that was about what I would expect at a dive bar. At least the mashed potatoes were smeared across the plate like I was in a fancy restaurant. This is not a place I will come back to.
Always a favorite of ours. Great wine selection. Food is always top notch. Service was a little off given Valentine’s Day crowd.
Valentine’s Day dinner and couldn’t have picked a better place
Really attentive staff and very friendly. Food was awesome and high quality.
Entertaining out of town guest who were very impressed with the offerings and service
Anticipated more from this highly rated restaurant. Service was almost overbearing to begin with. One question about wine led to a 15 minute dissertation. Then the server just disappeared until well after we had finished our dinner. The food was good but certainly nothing memorable.
Great wine recommendations to accompany an excellent meal.
A unique dining room and quiet noise level- perfect for my father in law with some hearing issues. He wished there was a soup offering. Food was delish and mom in law loved the rolls so much she asked to take the leftover ones home.
The food and service was excellent. The portions were small, but otherwise it was a top experience.
Excellent food preparations and good wine list!
An overall pleasant experience. Great service and atmosphere. The appetizer and entree were top notch. The dessert was a disappointment. The pound cake tasted very dry and old with lackluster flavor. The bourbon pecan glaze and gelato rescued a rather dreary finish. Beautiful restaurant. Would definitely recommend.
We got 5 couples together for my wife’s birthday. It also happened to be restaurant week. I reserved early enough for 10 and when we arrived we were escorted to the wine cellar. What a great time and an amazing room!
The food and wine were incredible and we all had such a great time.
The 1 star deduction was because it was very cold down there. I understand the cellar needs for the wine but the women were chilly and the food cooled pretty quickly.
That did not dampen the mood but thought you should know.
We will be back!
Outstanding! One of our favorite places.
Our server was very good! The lamb lollipops, osso bucco, and cheesecake were delicious! The dining area is very visually appealing.
We dined here for Restaurant Week and had a really great experience. The restaurant is in an old church. They have a huge wine selection, and we loved everything we ate. We had the octopus and lamb lollipops for our first course. The lamb was amazing. It came with two pieces and was super tender. For our second course, we had the duck and the filet, and we both loved our meals. The filet was cooked perfectly and came with asparagus and potatoes. For dessert, we had at the cheesecake and the chocolate cake and both were great. The service, food, wine, and everything were great and we will defiantly be back!
We went for Queens feast. The appetizers were good. Our table had the mussels, scotch egg and she crab soup.
The shrimp, scallops and grits entree was fair. The seafood was good the grits were not. Three of us had filet Mignon. Two steaks were good one was stringy. The desserts were a major disappointment. We had the bread pudding and pound cake.
Very dependable. Great food, excellent drink selection, professional service.
The meal was very good, just not great. Mainly the filet had a lot of fat, which is unacceptable for that cut. The service was super! The wine options and deserts were excellent.
Didn’t like the duck confit croquette it tasted like thanksgiving dressing, lobster had the texture of a boiled sausage. Server was excellent and the raspberry mule drinks were great
We had a great experience at Bonterra. The food was fantastic, our server was funny and knowledgeable, and we received our food quickly. The wine list is huge and they have a lot of unique wine you cannot normally purchase by the glass. Highly recommend!
Food was quite tasty and service was great. Good value during restaurant week.
We first experienced your restaurant with a walking tour of tastes of Charlotte. The taste of salmon was the best we have ever eaten. Hence, we came back.
Food great, ambience all great etc. But what really impressed our group was the wait staff. Our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about when to 'nudge' us and when to leave us alone. No hoovering over in a smothering way. He was also very happy and excited about sharing the history. Our group will be back. It was a group who have eaten their way around Charlotte but have never been to Bonterra. They were blown away by the whole experience.
Additionally, they commented on how you had the best and most interesting selections for restaurant week.
Thanks for such a great evening.
Food was fabulous and worth the drive from Lake Norman. Our waiter Jeff was Awesome. Great recommendations on food and wine. We will definitely go back!
Predictable and unimaginative menu. Poorly executed dishes.
Hadn’t been here in awhile. Went on Queens Feast week and will go back and put on our regular dining out cycle. Service with Anthony was first class. Though very busy he never wavered in his professionalism and quality service. Food was awesome and exceeded my expectations of other feat week menus,
Well done and see you soon. Can’t believe I had lost touch of such a fine local dining establishment
Went for Restaurant week. Portions and ingredients were downsized from regular menu. Nothing special
Enjoyed our Anniversary, thank you for letting us celebrate and have a wonderful evening! The food was delicious and the staff was awesome! I highly recommend. We will definitely be back!
I have herd such great things about this restaurant and have been waiting to try this place. I was very disappointed she crab soup was watery, dinner was good, desert was well ...let’s just say I love desert and together we tried two different choices and both were ehh we didn’t finish either. Our service was wonderful quick to replace the she crab soup. All in all I’m glad I experienced it during queensfeast. Instead of full price.
Outstanding food and service! One of our favorite places to go.
Went for restaurant week, everything was great. Waiter did not help too much with wine suggestions/pairings but that’s not a big deal. Overall very satisfied.
It’s one thing to offer an eclectic menu, but at least offer taste worthy of the price. The wife had always wanted to go, but left disappointed. Sadly stuffy atmosphere.
The grilled octopus was delicious, everything was delicious! Service was impeccable.
It’s Bonterra! This is the restaurant to which all other restaurants are compared. The service, the food, the drink menu, the value for your money - it’s all perfected here. There is simply no equal to Bonterra anywhere in Charlotte.
Overall, one of the best dining experiences I have had in Charlotte. The entire experience was top notch and the food was incredible. I very much appreciated the wine recommendations my server provided and how attentive he was during the meal. I cannot wait to return.
We tried it during restaurant week, so I'm not sure what the prices are on a normal night. Food was upscale, but adequate at best. The taste missed the mark. Nothing was outstanding, some items (she-crab soup, cheese cake) not good at all. Our waiter was wonderful, very knowledgeable about the menu items, polite, attentive and accommodating. The place is beautiful, although some guests were wierded-out that it was an old church and the alter was turned into a bar. All in all a good experience, except for the food, which is unfortunately the only reason I go to a restaurant. Sorry for the bad review.
Ambiance is mediocre, food even worse. Not worth a money we’ve spent. There was absolutely nothing worth mentioning
The ambiance and service were exceptional! We went for restaurant week and those in our group who chose the Osso bucco were disappointed because it was very fatty and the entree choices were not very heathy. We did however absolutely love the first course selections. The deserts were good but the best part of the meal was the wine and first course. However the service and ambiance were so exceptional that we will be back
OpenTable thought my original review was a bit too long and asked me to be concise.... here's my concise review: Terrible. Don't go. More details on Yelp.
