Bonnie Ruth's Neighborhood Bistro Ratings and Reviews
I'm sorry but this Bonnie Ruth's has become an outdated replica of the past .It reminded me of a place that my grandparents took me to in the 60s .The buffet food was ok even though they were slow to replenish some items ,but the atmosphere was like the family get together after a funeral .Even the staff walked around with a zoned out look on their faces wishing for closing time .There was no one smiling or interested in carrying on a conversation, just looks of despair. Maybe the place is livelier on weekend nights but if that is not the case I don't see much of a future for them . We made our Thanksgiving reservations there because we wanted to stay close to home. Our Reservations were made 3 weeks early and in that time we received four calls from Tiffany requesting that we confirm and reconfirm. She even asked us to put down a deposit which we didn't do. We found this odd because when we arrived at 6pm there was a total of 12 customers in the restaurant .We were led to believe that the deposit was necessary to hold a table because of the high demand . I hope that lessons were learned that night from everyone involved .I know that they were on our end .
Very disappointed to arrive early with reservations to be seated in the bar area. Couldn’t even have a conversation with my husband without hearing everyone around us. I’m a small person and had to walk into my seat sideways. Way too expensive for a buffet, no table cloths, never again. I expected much better!
What’s the point of having a reservation when they still make you wait 15 min because they can’t figure out what tables were cleared yet. Ran out of plates and silverware. Tough to eat at a buffet when you have no plates. Service was slow. Think twice before choosing here.
Brunch at Bonnie Ruth is always good, though nothing ever varies. The omelette station is good, the bacon and scrambled eggs on the buffet were good. The chicken dish was tasty though the mussels and calamari were cold and rubbery. Mimi desserts were yummy.
Been here twice, for brunch once on Saturday and once on Sunday and personally I feel the food has gone downhill. Let me start by saying the service, cleanliness, the environment etc is all top notch! Which is really why I gave3 Stars. The food however is a different story. I understand buffets and the complications of keeping food warm, however this is not the reason I say this. First off , biscuits are so flaky you cannot handle them( so keeping them in a steamer, makes it worse!) much less spread butter or jelly on them, especially not their butter because it's frozen! ( which I never understand why restaurants serve that!?) so you would think Ill just throw some gravy on them? But not their gravy because it's so watery and lacking salt and pepper it's like well, water. Also the biscuits are sweet? Which does not go well with even good gravy. The sausage would be great if it weren't so over cooked and the bacon might be better if it wasn't cooked all together In a big ball so there's no consistency! Eggs are fine, no toast available, however we requested some and it was great! but the waitress was troubled at the request and actually uncomfortably paused at the request? Calamari was good but again soggy thanks to the steamer. French toast which was my favorite last time, this time was mush and the crepes well, the same! By the way we got there at 9 am so it wasn't dead food. The ribs which were highly recommended by the manager were so tough they were inedible yet The desserts were great! At $21.95 a person it's really not worth it anymore due to the poor quality of the food and the $4.00 Bloody Mary could have barely filled a shot glass . Sadly this was for my mothers 70th bday and we left hungry. Unfortunately we won't be returning and this was going to be our official special occasion breakfast spot. ;(
We had a great experience at Bonnie Ruth’s! Everything from appetizers to desserts were fabulous. We loved the cheese board and crostini appetizers, and each of us had very different delicious main dishes. I recommend this for family meals or for a higher end experience. We didn’t sit on the patio, but it looked lovely!
I visited Bonnie Ruth's for New Year's Eve and had a very favorable experience. However, all of the positives disappeared on Saturday night. I made an online reservation for my wife's birthday dinner with our children. The reservation was set for 5:30 and the restaurant called me at 5:00 pm as we were getting ready to leave our house. They told us that we would have to sit outside as they had two private dinners scheduled but they said it was nice and they have fans. The temperature was 93 degrees and I don't think a fan would make much of a difference.
I told the person calling that outside was not an option and that would I would no longer return to their establishment. She asked that I hold and talk to her manager. The manager said there wasn't anything they could do and that was that.
Fortunately, we called Randy's Steakhouse in Frisco and they found a table for us and their food and service was excellent.
If Bonnie Ruth's are going to utilize the Open Table system, they should ensure that any cutoffs for sold out evenings are communicated to the user community and that they plan their seating accordingly. We will not be returning to Bonnie Ruth's.
We have dined at Bonnie's many times. And for the most part the food is very good and a good value. Saturday night I had the salmon special. It was stuffed with crab. It was NOT good. The salmon was WAYYYYYY overcooked and tasted very very fishy. I was very disappointed with my meal. This will not stop me from dining at BR's but it may be a while before I come back. My suggestion......forgo the fish special.
We made a reservation because we wanted to sit on the patio. While we were enjoying wine before ordering, the band in the next door restaurant started playing so loudly we couldn't even hear our conversation! Had to go inside in a back room with very little ambiance. Some arrangement needs to be made with your neighbors, or I won't be back, and you are one of my " favorites ".
The service was outstanding. The wine list had a lot of options. The calamari steak was quite good and bountiful-took some home for another meal. The pork chop was not very good but the seafood crepes were great. I highly recommend it. Desserts are delicious and large enough to share.
When I looked at your website I did not see that you had a buffet on Sundays. We were pleasantly surprised by the buffet and how expansive it was. You exceeded our expectations. We also appreciated the special prices on mimosas and bloody mary's - that was a nice surprise. We thought the buffet was a very good value for the variety of food and sweet treats that were offered. Great job! Service was very good too and staff very friendly. Thank you for a very positive experience.
Dishes were well thought out, properly cooked, and pleasingly plated ; portions are much too big, especially appetizers. Service did not live up to expectations of this type and price range restaurant. Plates not cleared prior to next course arriving; failure to fill water glasses, failure to replace used utensils -- very disappointing.
First time there was during Restaurant Week - $49 for 4 courses. Everything was amazing. The service was friendly and attentive. Server recommendations were on the money. The food was great. Seafood crepes, calamari steak appetizer, pear and goat cheese salad, wedge salad, steak and frites, white bean soup w/ham, were all amazing. Way too much to eat, but great quality. Many homemade deserts. Italian wedding cake and carrot cake were some of the best (esp the carrot cake). Ok wine list. I don't remember a French wine by the glass, but could be wrong on that. Will definitely be back again.
We had a nice Friday evening dinner at Bonnie & Ruth's. My parents live nearby and we were looking for a quiet place with good food where we could get in and out. I definitely wanted a reservation as my dad is a heart patient. The restaurant didn't even have a record of our reservation - (they didn't check open table) - but they seated us right away. The place did fill up and was louder than we expected. Our waiter was pleasant and took our order. Another large party was seated near us and took a lot of his time & attention. The restaurant was understaffed and service was slow. I finally had to get up to look for the waiter to pay the bill. The food was great & we enjoyed it - but having the waiter spread too thin - so I think that we will avoid coming here on the weekend.
