Bonnie Ruth's Neighborhood Bistro
Delicious seafood and steak menu. Very fresh ingredients.
Always one of our favorites. A great go-to restaurant. These new Rare Books Bar is incredible!
Bonnie Ruth’s turned my boyfriend’s and my “every day dining” into a date night out. We checked in early and asked to go to the bar— super thankful to the host for letting us know the speakeasy is now opening on Wednesday nights! We went there first. You need to know the “Book of the Day,” but they’ll help you with it. Swanky, cozy, good for dates or taking friends. Whiskey and Scotch list is incredible— I enjoyed a glass of Orphan Barrel 15 year. Thank you to Avi for the hospitality!
We equally loved our experience in the dining room. Quaint, French-style bistro. Terry was our server and was equally as hospitable. The beef bourguignon and chicken cordon bleu were fantastic. Loved the wine list— we enjoyed the Sandhi Pinot Noir with dinner. Thank you for an outstanding first visit! We will be back!
We were regulars at the Bonnie Ruth’s Allen location before they moved to Plano. We know how the standard menu items should look and taste. Frisco location was a huge let down. The desserts were the saving grace.
NYE - wonderful food, service & atmosphere
Food is okay
Nice date place. Good food. Attentive service.
Caramel, pecan, coconut cake was outstanding, one of the best desserts we’ve had in years. The slice was easily big enough for 3, and it was fairly priced at $8. A flatbread with shrimp and bacon and a chicken Cobb salad were tasty. Major disappointment were the scallops. Listed as “diver’s scallops” they were smallish and overpriced at $32 for 4. Taste was ok, short of expectations. Service was attentive but at bit unpolished. Would recommend overall, but avoid the scallops.
Great food and always enjoy sitting on the patio -- a warm fireplace, blankets at your chair and heaters make the secluded patio a hidden gem for our community.
Their Thanksgiving buffet was good. They had Turkey, ham and prime rib. Wish they had rolls instead of biscuits and brown gravy along with the Turkey gravy but overall the family enjoyed dinner.
It was Thanksgiving and my family was not going to be able to make it to our house, this year, so I decided to let someone else do the cooking for me😁 I made my reservations 2 months in advance, since Bonnie Ruth’s has been so full every time I’ve called prior to this occasion.
We arrived and the parking lot was half full. We were escorted quickly to our table and the waiter came shortly thereafter to take our drink order. We, then took our turns at the buffet. We ALL had the shrimp cocktail, which was very tender and delicious. Then we went on the entrees... I had the ham and loved it! My husband had the prime rib and was very happy with it. We both had portions of the mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, and scalloped corn. It was all good but the corn was especially savory and delicious. After that, we made our way to the dessert tables which were covered in scrumptious delights! We both had the cream puffs and chocolate croissants, and I had some of the chocolate praline. None of it disappointed! Mmmmm.. so good😁Meanwhile our waiter anticipated our every need and we were made to feel like royalty😁Thanks Bonnie Ruth’s for making this a great Thanksgiving for us. We’ll be back!
Thanksgiving Day buffet was quite nice. All our favorite comfort foods plus a few more exotic items. Dressing and gravy was just right in texture and seasonings. Very good service.
New ownership is doing a wonderful job! They’ve transformed the space and added a really cool speakeasy with awesome cocktails, jazz music and moody decor. Definitely didn’t feel like we were in the ‘burbs!
We had drinks and appetizers in the Speakeasy. It was fantastic! Can’t wait to go back.
Love this place- one of our favs- food is ALWAYS outstanding- service was slower this time which stood out since it has ALWAYS been fantastic previously- very busy PM and server may have been new
Live music- new updates to the restaurant including recent modification to “after hours” area- —ask them about it!
Must go - we will return - as always!
We experienced great service and delicious food. The noise level was too much for me to enjoy the meal fully. A guitarist was singing but was not easily understood because of the noise of the many conversations.
Thank you Ron for taking the time to review us, we appreciate the great feedback!
My husband and I booked our reservation for Halloween last week at 6pm. I was able to do without any trouble as I’ve done many times before. With this said, you can only imagine my extreme disappointment to walking up to the restaurant doors and finding a note indicating the where CLOSED.
If the restaurant had planned on being closed, that should’ve been communicated to Open Table allowing them to prevent people like me from placing reservations.
Sat on the patio. Service was great. Good was amazing. Ambiance was beautiful.
Ate on the patio. Live music. Great ambiance.
We had a wonderful lunch with scrumptious food. It was loud due to a big party but we enjoyed it anyway.
We sat on the patio, where there was live music, so the "noise level" was a bit higher than normal, but it was fantastic. Loved the music, and the food and service were as good as always.
Bonnie Ruth’s brunch was delicious. We got there before the rush and enjoyed a nice and quiet breakfast. We’ll definitely be back!
Always great food and friendly attentive service. Appears they are updating with fresh paint. The night we were there there was live music that was very good. Their patio is very comfortable and will be used frequently since the weather is a bit cooler now.
Excellent place to catch up with friends over a relaxing meal.
We've loved Bonnie Ruth's for years. They've made some changes to the look of the restaurant, but the food is as wonderful as ever. They've got a great happy hour, 7 days a week. It'll be a Frisco standard for years to come.
We love Bonnie Ruth’s. It is always a special treat. I highly recommend going there. Their bread pudding is to die for.
Excellent dinner & service. Arrived for Happy pricing on drinks & appetizers
Service was mostly good but left us alone too much. No water for all diners. We all ordered French Onion soup. Consensus, soup was muddy, tomato-ish, not beefy broth, lukewarm, couldn't find the bread, slab of cheese. Sooo salty. A fail. Disappointing as a signature dish. Cheese board had little cheese. Cocktails good except for a very odd Margarita, mix was funky. Avoid. Spaghetti Diablo with shrimp was good. Beef Bourguignon was more pulled beef with sautéed mushrooms and two large carrots in a cast iron pan, way too salty not much sauce. Not the rich red wine sauce with pearl onions and bacon. Would we return? There are way too many new restaurants in Frisco to try before returning.
Excellent food & service, as always!!! Great location.
Very nice! Great food and a beautiful building.
Food was great and prices are reasonable. Desert portions are large. We'll be back.
Everything was very good except it was to noisy making conversation difficult
Excelente entrada de queso de cabra, un pato espectacular y un muy bello lugar
Great food and service! Best mussels this side of the Atlantic!! Wide dessert selection and all are very good, had the Marble cake tonight and it is awesome!!
It was our daughters birthday and when we asked her where she wanted to go she didn’t hesitate to say, “duh, Bonnie Ruth’s”. This is one of our family’s favorite restaurants. The food is ALWAYS great and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We were sad to see the one closing in Allen at Watters Creek, but we’re hopeful another location will open soon that’s a little but closer. Keep up the good work! Oh and if you need help ordering, you’ll never be disappointed with the Chicken Paillard-delicious!!!
Good food and service. Went there before a play as a party of 6 including 2 children. Everyone enjoyed their food ranging from salmon, pasta, salad to burger.
Minor problem with music being way too loud. We asked for it to be turned down and it was.
Food and service was amazing. Really a nice atmosphere
My second visit really enjoyed the breakfast will most definately be coming back in the near future.
A very nice dinner. Food was great. We had duck two eats and chicken CB. Both great as well as their sides. We arrived during happy hour so drinks were a bargain to boot!
We wanted a quiet getaway where we could eat and talk. Setting on the patio is exactly what we wanted. cool breeze, perfect with fireplace, trees, and plants. Tables were spaced to give you privacy.
The meal was a little pricy, especially since the rating was $$ moderate, it was $$$.
We chose to split the Bouillabaisse listed as $32 on the menu online menu says $28
I have a food allergy with one of the ingredients, but the chef able to delete the item, make a small adjustment and the dish was excellent.
The server was attentive, but not obtrusive. He was knowledgable of the entire menu and offerings
It was very enjoyable and we will be back.
