Bonito Ratings and Reviews
Food was unbelievable and the drinks were beyond amazing!!! I had a drink as dessert in order to try more of them. Gorgeous presentation and delicious. Beautiful atmosphere and superb service and food too. My favorite of all the restaurants in St Bart's. Had it all!! Decor and views were incredible too
My husband and I made a reservation to celebrate our one year anniversary. We requested a table with a view and called to ensure we would get a good table with a view. We were told over the phone that they would have a special table with a beautiful view for our anniversary dinner celebration. When we arrived a blonde hostess was extremely rude and fully unaccommodating. She gave us a table with a view of a roof. We thought it was a joke but in fact they were giving us a table with only a view of a roof. I asked the hostess for another table and reminded her that we had not only made this special request on open table but we also called to ensure they would accommodate us with a beautiful table with a view especially since it was for our anniversary. The hostess said "This is your only option. I have a few other tables with water views available but will need them at 9:00pm. Keep in mind our reservation was for 7:30 pm and we arrived early at 7:15 pm. The hostess had a horrible attitude and was completely disgusting! Never ever ever go to Bonito. The menu was not great and completely overpriced. There are MANY excellent restaurants in St. Bart's so be sure not to select this one. After ordering drinks in hopes of the hostess checking for a better table she told us she would not offer any of the EMPTY tables available with a water view. We were so disgusted that we paid for our drinks and left immediately. We ended up at On the Rocks with an incredible view and amazing dinner!
Absolutely Amazing! Walking into a beautifully decorated restaurant with a gorgeous view was immediately exciting...but that was just the beginning. From the amuse bouche to the dessert...we enjoyed every bite of the fresh, creative and delicious dishes that we ordered. We were hoping that this special place catered more towards adults and we were NOT disappointed. Husband & I enjoyed a romantic evening for two along with the fantastic staff that was always professional. Will go again...and again...and again...
Very good food! My three girlfriends and I were having a relaxing long weekend in St. Barth and we ended the trip with a final dinner at Bonito. It was great!! The service was perfect and the food was delicious. We had the Tasting of Ceviches and Tiraditos for starters. My sister and I had the Chilean Sea Bass and my two girlfriends had the Lomo Saltado and Lobster Risotto for our main courses. We finished with the Baked Alaska for dessert. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
The ambiance was wonderful and very nice for people watching.
Very nice place with great ambiance! Food is good and service is excellent! The only problem we encounter is that we were using Waze to get there and it kept taking us through a dead end street that is actually next to the restaurant but you can't park there. Later on, we realized there were signs on the streets leading to the restaurant but it is a good idea to keep this in mind. We ended up parking in L'isola restaurant valet and walking. It is like 50 mts from there but up hill.
Overall we had a great time!!!
Our first night in St Barth's was capped by a magnificent meal at Bonito. Extensive whine list, selections enjoyed! I started with a refreshing g cold soup followed by grilled pork- great. Others enjoyed pork confine entree and lobster risotto. Excellent spot. Don't miss it!
The food was good, but the vibe was pretentious, especially from the maitre'd. The wine list was extensive. The tilt toward super expensive selections was off-putting. St Barth has several restaurants that have equally good food at more moderate prices and more welcoming atmospheres.
Elegant and exceptional- from you from the moment you enter this fine establishment you're taking into a stellar experience of hospitality and fine dining. The truffle salad is one of the best salads I have ever tried in my life. The bubbling Bonito cocktail is perfect for a person who loves and champagne and fresh clean juice; Refreshing and delightful. When we come back to Saint Barths we will be dining here time and time again.
You really can't beat the view. The food was great too! Very unique and interesting presentation with the cocktails. The scallops were excellent. A nice experience overall! My only complaints are: it seems like we had a bunch of different servers and they all kinda forgot about us at some point. They also brought out a tiny soup for everyone at the tables all around us before they ordered but skipped us. (Which I'm sure wasn't intentional but I was disappointed.) Also, not their fault but I came home with 30+ mosquito bites from our evening there so be sure to wear lots of bug spray when you go!
I was very very disappointed with my experience at Bonito that I had to write a review. Our waiter was rude and barely paid attention to our table. We ordered three apps, main courses, two desserts and a magnum of wine (for four people) and our table was treated terribly with no attention and an air of superiority from the waiter. This was so surprising because this is a very nice restaurant and we were definitely ordering. At many points during the dinner we had to try and get the attention of our waiter to bring us more wine. The wine was placed away from our table so we had to walk to go get it and the waiters just ignored us while this was taking place. Our waiter rolled his eyes at us and seemed annoyed to even explain to us his favorites or what he would recommend. When he came over to take our order one of the individuals was in the bathroom and asked if we could order for him. When we said he had a question regarding two dishes the waiter walked away and then proceeded to ignore us afterward because we weren't ready when he needed us to be. Overall, I was so unhappy with the service and attitude I couldn't even enjoy the meal. The experience was hostile and made our very expensive dinner an unenjoyable experience. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to any friend and would recommend the many very enjoyable dining experiences in St Barths instead.
In a word delicious! From smoked hamachi to excellent beef for two to authentic tostones and spot on sorbets with killer flavor and a few crunchies. Excellent staff, very functional and kind.
Killer wine list. A bit young but nice selections for the guy like me looking for a nice $150 bottle to the folks with money to burn looking for that $1000 bottle and more to impress. Next time trying the fish and ceviches. I wish I had my whole family with me so we could sample more. The entire dessert menu is worth ordering if you have a bunch of dessert buddies with you, but the sorbets were sublime and oozed fruit flavor more than the fruits themselves. I want to see the chef do a strawberry, a pineapple, a blackberry and a mango. There was a giant mango tree full of mangoes to the right that caught my eye when we left walking down the hill. I think in a month they will be ready!
Go to Bonito., and take friends
Bonito is well known around St. Barths! When you walk in, the view is breathtaking! I would suggest doing the 7 or 730 reservation so that you still have a view of Gustavia. I went on a Sunday (all of Gustavia is closed) so I would suggest doing a different day so that you can walk around before dinner. The decor is super cute, and chic, and somewhat fancy. I had the Lobster Risotto which was a HUGE portion- very good and I typically don't eat risotto, and my boyfriend got the mahi mahi which was great also. We got cocktails at the bar first, which was pretty cool watching them make the fancy drinks. I would go back, but next time would probably go for a drink at the bar, and then go into town to another dinner! This place is $$$$$$ very pricey!
Great dinner at Bonitos. Lovely setting just above the port of Gustavia. Glamerous décor and really great DJ. We ended up dancing as we were leaving the restaurant. Food is sophisticated Peruvian inspired and service very efficient. But prices to match with main courses around €40-50 and the cheapest bottle of wine at €50 - but given the good experience we did not feel ripped off.
Bonito is a hidden gem. There are plenty of signs in town to get you there but many one ways so a little difficult to find!!! FIND IT!!! Atmosphere was amazing and the presentation of the food and drinks was just superb!! My husband and I went for a nice dinner just the two of us and the setting was amazing!!! If you can, request to sit in front of the windows that open and overlook the water. We did not know about this and they were already booked. They also do valet parking, so take advantage of it because it is very hard to find a parking spot. I had an espresso martini after dinner and it came out with smoke bellowing from under a cover - so dramatic and so different. definitely a conversation piece. The sashimi was so fresh and good and light!! I give it a 10 on a 5 scale!!! A must go while in St. Barth's
We own a home on St. Barth so we come to the island frequently.
For me, the food at Bonito is good; the service and ambiance are a bit off; and the wines on their wine list are sub-par and quite expensive compared to other nice restaurants on the island.
We go to Bonito every few years and continue to find it uncompelling.
