Bonfire Wood Fire Cooking – St. Paul Ratings and Reviews
Family dinner night. One hamburger was great, another was ordered medium well and came out raw. Waitress was great, ordering a new medium well hamburger and it was good. One entrée was the salmon- looked great. My husband's fajitas could have had more fixings. It was pretty limited. The flaming queso was difficult to light due to the strong current of air/heat across our table. Poor waitress tried several times. I would also suggest a different pan for serving the queso. This skillet had about 1/16 of an inch for a border. Maybe make it a half inch so that all of the corn chips can be used? (pretty skimpy)
Waitress was very understanding. Issue was the timing on delivery of meals. Wait was close to an hour for food. By the time last meal was
Delivered to our table first meal was finished. This was really my mistake to recommend this restaurant If I would have taken time and read reviews I would have noticed all the bad reviews. All comments in past reviews actually happened last night. Talked with manager and he mentioned that they had numerous , I believe it was 30, complaints last night alone. I go back to the previous reviews and the only conclusion I can come to is that the owners are running this restaurant at this level on purpose.
Will not be returning and will not recommend visiting.
I was hesitant to have our date nite meal here, having read many mixed reviews. I should've listened to my gut. Our personable server was very sweet, but most everything else was off. I think the restaurant needs some basic training, actually. Serve a gin and tonic with lime! Don't cook medallions medium-well when I ordered them medium-rare! Etc.
The food was good and the wait staff very helpful. The only criticism was that the air conditioner kicked in blowing cold air on us and other patrons when it was -30 outside. The group behind us asked to be moved and the manager was kind enough to bring in a space heater. It didn't help much but was very thoughful
We were sat right next to the food station which was way too close. One of the people at our table had dressing flung into her hair. We waited over an hour just for our salads and it wasn't even busy. Typically like this restaurant but this was a very bad experience.
The service was pretty good - our group grew from 10 to 15 and our server accommodated that. The build your own bloody Mary and Mimosa bar was excellent. Our food was hit and miss. My eggs Benedict was short on sauce and not particularly flavorful. Our jalapeño quesadillas came out with large un cut jalapeños on it which was a little odd. However server did take it back and take it off the bill for my companion.
Ordered salad & it was missing ingredients...had it remade & it was missing three ingredients but also had chicken bones in...then ordered a flat bread pizza & it was missing ingredients.
Manager came to apologize, but we will never be back. Took over 25 minutes to get flat bread. Total time spent there was 2.5 hours due to food errors & poor slow service.
Awful. Just awful.
Thanksgiving dinner. Service was good- food excellent. Understood TV on for game but volume high and forced us to hear all commentary plus commercials. Created a poor ambience for a Thanksgiving “festive” occasion. Plus- lighting too bright and overall atmosphere way too casual. Servers in flannel? Seems décor has changed significantly since our last visit which perhaps made it our mistake for thinking it would be “nice”. Now a sports bar not nice dinner restaurant.
We went here for Thanksgiving dinner and were really very happy with everything. The food was great. Starting with salad and ending with dessert, the main meal was all you can eat, brought right to your table whenever you wanted more. We had the nicest server, and several people stopped by our table throughout the meal to make sure we were happy. Our group has already decided we're coming here again next year. We're also likely to make Bonfire a frequent stop throughout the year.
I was a little disappointed in the lack of options on the breakfast menu and the fact that when I ordered a mimosa and my sister ordered a bloody mary, it wasn't explained that they were bottomless until we asked. Other than that, the venue is nice and in a great location.
We like to go to Bonfire when in St. Paul shopping for the weekend. The ambiance is good, and it's fun to sit by the windows and people watch. They introduced a new menu and the food was good. Especially liked the tequila cheese dip. Salads were also tasty. The waiter was very nice, but our service was slow. Had to send the spinach dip back because it was cold.
Still like Bonfire, but this is the 2nd time we've had slow service.
Food was reasonably good but overpriced. Service was terrible. Servers themselves were friendly, but we waited a good 20 min before anyone approached us for any kind of an order. We ordered food right away, and they never even asked for a drink order. The kitchen was also apparently short-staffed so it took another 50-60 min to get the food. The main restaurant ambiance is pleasant, but they had stashed our party of six into a beat up old room in the back underneath a loud television. All in all, it was 2 hours wasted. We won’t be returning.
Extremely slow service, despite the restaurant being only half full. Ordered a drink but the waiter didn't check in often to refill water or ask if we wanted another. The food, including the appetizer, came an hour later. Our drinks were gone by then, but when my friend ordered another glass of wine, it took another 15 minutes to get it. By then, she was done with dinner. Waiter was nice and apologetic, explaining the kitchen was backed up, and even discounted our meals (which I hesitated to write this review, as that "redeemed" our long wait) but seems like the place was poorly managed.
I've been to this place at least 3-4 times and I love it! It's a great place for just a couple of besties and perfect for larger groups. They put us at a round table which was perfect for our group of 6. The food was amazing and we were there during happy hour and the deals are amazing. I will definitely be returning!
The food has fallen a long way in quality since my last visit here. Not much variety on the breakfast menu, and iffy preparation on the food we got. The toast was barely toasted, the potatoes were, instead of cottage fries or hash browns or similar breakfast spuds, what I think were cut up French fries.
The bloody Mary bar was good, but that shouldn't be the best part of your meal. Our server was attentive but not super skilled and did not make us feel welcome. We will likely find another spot for breakfast next time.
Awful service! It was clear that they messed up on several occasions and no one apologized. It took 15 minutes to take our drink order, we asked for silverware and napkins four times, we had to refill our own water after asking three times, we cleared our own plates after appetizers to make room for our lunch, and then the food came, kind of. We were a group of 7, the first four meals came out, 10-minutes later another meal (but it was wrong so went back), 5 minutes later another, and then the last person had to ask for the fourth time about her meal. It arrived 25 minutes after the first meals were brought to our table. Our server finally appeared, not asking how things were but to clear another table that had sat empty for almost 30 minutes. He picked up their bill, looked at it and rolled his eyes. Maybe it was on you that they left you that tip?
Atmosphere is great, service was not so much! Although the server was extremely friendly, it took 20 minutes to get drinks and another 30 for the food. She only returned once to se how everything was and that was in the first five minutes after serving us. We waited 15 minutes after we were done for the check and finally flagged her down and just gave her our card for payment.
To the staff members,
We had my daughter's Samantha's ( YES; TO THE DRESS) luncheon on Saturday august 26th at 11:00 AM 5 guests. My daughter and her Maid of honor are deaf. It was fun that Haley could communicated to them with sign language and Dani was a wonderful servicer. We even have a picture of the (Bride to Be) hugging Dani. Paul and Molly were so helpful and special Thank you for blowing up the balloons for the table and setting the decorations for the table. I will tell everyone about this beautiful dining experience and endless Mimosa's can never go bad!!!!!!!
Mother of the Bride
So disappointing! A French dip sandwich made with terribly over cooked beef on a stale roll. We told the server how awful it was and yet a manager never came near us. The server handed me an IPad and told me to express my thoughts on that. I did give them my phone number and email, but since a manager couldn't walk 5 feet to talk to us I am sure I will never here from them. Too bad it used to be a nice restaurant.
