We had the lobster ramen, the green chile ramen, the steamed buns and the shisito peppers. The waiter forgot to put our order in for the steamed buns so he gave us the shisito peppers for free while we waited. Big portions and really flavorful ramen. It did not disappoint.
The place had a cozy vibe which was perfect for a Sunday evening but I could see it even more lively when completely full. Great service and great food!
Pro Tip: if you get the steamed buns ask to try all three flavors!
Tasty food options, basically noodle bowls with a sophisticated flair. Nice options on Happy Hour. Main downfall is the exhaust system. Previous reviews indicated that the ventilation system was poor in the restaurant - I didn't consider this as an issue or thought it may have been something temporary, however, it was an issue. The exhaust isn't powerful enough to remove the cooking smells and a slight "fog" in the air from the moisture of cooking - your entire body and clothing will smell like the restaurant - brand new coat will need to be dry-cleaned. If this isn't a concern and you enjoy noodle bowls, it can be worth a try.
We love Bones and have been many times over the years! This time, the service and food did not disappoint. However, something is very wrong with the ventilation right now. The small space was incredibly smoky and smelly, and the air was so thick that I had to walk outside briefly between courses just to breathe. We went to a show after dinner and reeked all night long. Needless to say, we felt horrible for the folks around us, and have to send our nice coats to the dry cleaners now. Other than that, we enjoyed the food at Bones as always, but I don’t think we will be coming back anytime soon!
We loved the happy hour menu and the food was great! The brussels sprouts and pork buns were amazing! Perfect for cold weather also! Service was fast and friendly. The only issue we had is with the smoke in the air from the kitchen. It stayed in our clothes after we left.
Upon our 6 pm arrival, we found a sign on the door stating the restaurant was closing at 6 pm for a private party. We still went inside, confused, though, since we had a 6 pm reservation. The greeter/host told us we were "okay to be seated--they just couldn't seat too much beyond that time because of the party." The waitress's service was fine during our meal, but at the end, within 5 minutes or so after the waitress brought our check, the aforementioned greeter/host approached our table and asked for payment because they needed to "turn the table soon." I understand there was a party somewhere else in the restaurant, but I felt this was done rather abruptly (not to mention embarrassed me), since we hadn't even reached the end of our two-hour reservation period. It was also odd since the dining room was empty except for maybe two other tables . This was my first dinner experience at the restaurant, and based on experience, I won't be returning or recommending it.
Food was good, service not so much. Told the waitress no scallions, salad was perfect. Then entree came with a heap of scallions and had to get up to get waitress to take it back. She was apologetic+very nice about it. Long wait after we ordered dessert. By the time we left, the place was hazy with cooking smoke, eyes burning, clothing reeked. Not sure I would go back...
The food is fine, but I'm not sure $20 for ramen is a good value. The part I disliked the most was leaving the restaurant smelling very strongly like the food. I had to send my coat to the cleaners after leaving this restaurant. Please get better ventilation. I would recommend only going to Bones during the summertime when you can sit on the patio so you don't end up ruining your good clothes.
From the service to the food, Bones left a lot to be desired. Whoever greeted us seemed rather annoyed that the reservation was accidentally made for 2 instead of 3 lol. Brussel sprouts were burnt and bitter. Steamed buns and dumplings were the most enjoyable part of our meal. Lobster ramen wasn’t anything to write home about, and the crispy chicken ramen was just ok. Missed the mark for me, and I️ don’t foresee myself making another visit.
I had a tremendous first date...was it the gal? Was it the food? Who knows! Couldn’t have been better on either account in my opinion.
We let our server choose our libations and food. As amazing as both bowls (lobster ramen and chicken? rice bowl) were, the escargot wontons were the hit; we’re both framing about them almost a week later!
Tried Bones for the first time for my birthday and loved it! I was looking for something casual, but with some out of the ordinary menu options and this was the perfect choice. The place filled up really fast from the moment they opened and was lively but never overwhelming. Our appetizers- the crab dumplings and a sampling of the steamed buns- were EXCELLENT, definitely the highlight of the meal. I also really liked the the cocktail I had, the Tsunami, and dessert, the churro ice cream sandwich. Probably the only part of the meal that wasn't above and beyond my expectation was, ironically, the ramen. And that's not to say it wasn't still tasty. I went with one of the more traditional choices and it just wasn't quite as exciting of flavorful as the rest of the meal - still would highly recommend overall and would definitely be opening to trying some of their other ramen.
The food was AMAZING! So delicious. I have heard of people getting food drunk before and never knew what that meant until I ate here. My senses all around became intoxicated by the food and I felt as if I was in a state of euphoria. Absolutely the best meal I've had in a very long time!
We did not care for the crab dumplings, they had a fishy smell that wasn't appetizing. The calamari appetizer was also different. It's not battered and fried, which is nice, but I felt it should have been hotter. It was warm and I wouldn't have paired the bread that came with it together.
The lobster ramen had good flavor, but wasn't crazy amount the lobster pieces. I would order the chicken ramen again next time.
