BONDST Ratings and Reviews
Was overall realty pleased with the food and service. The broiled Chilean sea bass, chicken dumplings, and octopus were some highlights. Decent cocktails but nothing to write home about. Same for dessert overall, although the banana tarte tatin was really nice.
Given how similar upmarket sushi-places can be, BondSt has fallen behind the times when compared to the likes of Nobu, and even Koi. The portions are smaller than both for no good reason, and the server was haughty.
Wine list was great and sesame shrimp roll was phenomenal, but overall, you're better off going to one of the above. More bang for your buck.
Absolutely amazing food every time we go! Our favorite restaurant in the world, and we have been going for 19 years (since it opened) and never been disappointed.
I recommend sitting at the sushi counter, best experience chatting with the Sushi chefs. The food is fresh, creative and always superbly served. I can’t find enough words to say how much we enjoy BondSt
AMAZING as always! I've been several times already and BOND ST simply NEVER disappoints. It's always very busy, no matter what day you come, service is EXCEPTIONAL (very professional, friendly, discreet, seriously top notch), and the food is just 100%! So worth the money -- I will say that yes, it is expensive, but if you're looking for truly authentic & good quality Japanese, this is it. This time we came on a Monday evening and were seated in the back area by the kitchen and it's been my favorite experience so far. Was amazing seeing the chefs work & interact and there was a guest at the bar who celebrated his birthday and when they brought out the birthday cake all the chefs stopped working and sang "happy birthday" and it was truly heartfelt and so energetic, really great! Our waiter was amazing, food was amazing, everything was top notch & truly perfect. Will always recommend!
Little loud, little tight, the food took a little while to come out, the service comped 2 drinks. Besides that, the food was excellent, every single course was on point not one slip, highly recommend if you are into food. Cocktails and saki was very good, dessert was good. Overall I would highly recommend bondst if you don't mind the tighter space and some noise.
Terrific service. Food was quite good, but one dish was inedible. Server removed from our bill without us asking, which was nice. The problem was the crowd - loud, rude, and crude. It was the absolute stereotype of rich, disconnected, inauthentic 20 and 30 somethings.
My husband and I️ had our first date here and continue to go back as we live in the neighborhood. I️ wouldn’t say it’s my number 1 or 2 for nigiri/sashimi but the menu is creative and offers a lot more than just sushi. it’s up there with one of my favorite dining experiences.
I have been to bond st. Sushi before and had a wonderful experience. Today however, that was not the case.
While the food was delicious, everything else was terrible. When we arrived we went straight upstairs to the main dining area, instead of checking in at the lounge on the 1st floor. It was my understanding that the restaurant was on the 2nd floor while the lounge was on the 1st floor. Last time I went here, they told me that the lounge is a separate experience and reservations have to be booked specifically for the lounge area, so this time (knowing that) we went straight upstairs. Which is what we thought was what we were supposed to do. When we got upstairs we were greeted by the most unpleasant woman who told us that we had to go back downstairs to the lounge to check in. I told her we had a reservation in the restaurant and she said that we needed to go back downstairs because she didn't know where our table would be.
We get downstairs and end up waiting for 30 minutes past our reservation time. They finally tell us our table is ready upstairs-what do you know our table WAS upstairs, like I had said.
When we finally sit down we had to ask for someone to take our order because it was taking so long. They ended up spilling food on my mom's coat, and they forgot one of my entrees yet still charged us for it.
At the end of our meal I asked to speak with the manager to let her know about our experience. She could have cared less. She actually used the phrase "If you choose to come back" and was very defensive.
I have been a manager for the past year and I have also never written a review of a restaurant in my life. But my experience here was so off-putting that I wanted to write this review.
I don't believe I will return to Bond St. Sushi.
Went here for a birthday and had an excellent time. Server was very attentive to our needs and the ambiance was very nice. Restaurant is popular so it did get noisier than our usual dinners, but it was not overpowering. Did the chef's selection complimented by a couple of rolls and they were very tasty. There is a nice lounge below the restaurant as well. The food was a little pricey, but definitely worth a special occasion trip.
Not as good as I expected. The service was good and the drinks were good, but the Sushi didn't taste that fresh and my wife felt it tasted like it had been precut early in the day. I have had much better sushi at many places, and would just say it was "ok".
We were at Bondst to celebrate my partner's birthday.
We love sushi and it seemed the right place to go. The first impression when walking in was not the best one expecting a truly sushi bar; loud punters , drinking cocktails and munching extravagant plates of sushi in dark small tables.
Luckily we were taken to sushi counter and things started to look up. The sushi chef took care of us and we opted for omakase menu. We were not disappointed. A bit on the pricey side but the quality of the fish was excellent and the sushi rice was good too.
We had a mixed between sushi and hot plates. The sea bass with miso sauce was incredibly tasty and the dessert did not disappoint.
It lacks a bit of what I wound expect from a sushi bar, but overall a great experience
After having had a great experience a week prior, I booked another table for a 9PM reservation. We arrived on time. We were not seated until 930PM. Lastly, we were rushed by the waitress when finally seated. The food may be good, but there are plenty of restaurants that serve yummy plates and respect their patrons. If I reserve to be seated at 9PM, I expect to be seated at 9PM. I am unsure if I will be back.
The food was great. I've been here twice, once for the most comprehensive tasting menu and once going a la carte. I've only dined in the front and back of the main dining room so I can only speak for that. The lounge, I've never been to, but I would guess that it gets pretty loud there. In the tasting menu, the portions were smaller (except for the entrees) while a la carte portions are larger. For instance, you get 1 tuna tart in the tasting menu, but 2 if you order a la carte. The cocktails are great and so were their wine and beer selections. The noise level gets a bit loud, especially the closer you are to the bar. Service is good, polite, and efficient. The pastries here are under rated, and often left out of reviews but the bread pudding and green tea mille crepe are great.
