Bond 45 - National Harbor Ratings and Reviews
The food was good, but we will not be back here. We went out for my husband's birthday. When we got there there was no one at the hostess stand. We waited 5 minutes or more then the hostess arrived. I asked her if she had a warm and romantic table, and she said no. It was busy. Then proceeded to sit us in the coldest loudest area. I asked her for another table she seemed irritated and pointed to another table and said we could sit there. The server who greeted us was very nice, but she rotated with another server who was not nice. We had these 2 servers the whole meal. We got bread with no butter. When our food was brought out we weren't offered crushed black pepper like some tables around us were. Since I really like it I tracked people down to get it. The most important thing for me is that it is my husband's birthday and I wrote on my open table reservation that I wanted a birthday dessert for my husband as a surprise. No one wished him a happy birthday. Then when it came time for dessert I wanted to be sure he got it as a surprise so I left for the restroom and asked the first person I saw that worked there. I showed him where I was sitting and who one of my servers was. When I returned he said he told that server. A couple of moments later our other server asked if we'd like dessert. I hoped someone would tell her but they didn't. So I asked for a birthday dessert for my husband with him there. She was very kind and brought us two birthday desserts because of the trouble. She did her best to make it right. I had thought this was a fine dining restaurant, but the service from some of the employees and the inconsistency in our experience proved otherwise. I would have brought my parents here, because they would like the food. But after our experience I won't be returning.
Let’s start with the good - Bond 45 creates great dishes and wonderful food at reasonable prices.
Where they fall terribly short is the service. At one point I got up from the table and poured my fiancé and I our own refills of water. They waiter forgot about our salads. We reminded him 40 minutes after ordering. They appeared with apologies. We asked to split the salad - we were just given a side plate. We never asked if we wanted more cocktails or wine. Also - we weee first sat in a dark room to the side of the main dining area.... older folks need light to see the menus... just a fact. It smelled of fish and was incredibly cold.
We brought up our concerns to the Manager who apologized - but that was about it. The bill was hefty. We tipped our 15% and let them know we wouldn’t be back. A shame - the food was pretty good.
This was my second visit to Bond 45. I suggested we take a friend for his birthday because my first visit was so delicious I have wanted to go back ever since! The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the food is outstanding. The crab cake is very large and is all crab meat and surrounded by delicious squash and vegetables. My husband had a steak that was cooked to perfections and our friends enjoyed their pasta and crab immensely. It's a bit pricey so it is a great place for special occasions. I would highly recommend Bond 45 for a fabulous dining experience!
We were a party of six. The service was very good and the food was outstanding. We all ordered something different but everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Some had steak and seafood, some pasta and seafood. I had a classic Italian dish.
The Assistant General Manager, Al Green, was exceptional. Very personable and accommodating in changing our reservation to an earlier time in the evening despite the fact that the restaurant was extremely busy.
I liked the restaurant overall. The appetizer (pear salad) and my wife's entree (scallops) were great. I had the lasagna (which is how I judge an Italian restaurant). Unfortunately, the lasagna was disappointing - overcooked noodles that made it so mushy it was hard to distinguish between the noodles, cheese, and meat.
ThIs was a get together of old friends. None of us had been there before so we were not sure what to expect. That said, we arrived very early, got seated after just a few minutes. All the staff were attentive, courteous, and responsive. Our meal arrived promptly, with no errors. Everyones food was excellent. We will return soon.
I am an avid Open Table user and rarely write reviews but I had to in this case. I arranged a mommy and me day at the Gaylord National Harbor followed by dinner at Bond 45. The experience was quite memorable. The host was the best. I dine in NYC often and haven't received this level of service. He greeting me and my little lady with champagne glasses filled with ginger ale. We were then given a seat with a view of the harbor. Finally, he surprised her with a huge slice of chocolate cake. We will remember this dining experience for years to come. I have shared this restaurant with anyone who will listen.
Our needs were met with speed and accuracy. The quality of service throughout the visit was first class. From the call to ensure we didn't have specific needs to the flexibility in seating needs on Thanksgiving Day - we were impressed. The family style option worked well for our family. We will be returning!
Just what I wanted: a Thanksgiving lunch without the turkey! The Acorn Squash Soup was superb, and the Prime Ribeye Steak arrived just as I had ordered (medium rare),and was tender and juicy. The terramisu (?) was large enough for 2 or 3! I took half of the steak and half the dessert home, the meal was that filling.
Celebrated a birthday and we were treated special. We were in a secluded space with 4 other couples who were also celebrating . Our Waitress was a gem - very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu plus she remember everyone's name. The dinner who spot on and very filling and for dessert our waitress sung her rendition of "Happy Birthday". Overall it was a good experience and I would go there again.
Generally Pleasant experience with only 1 issue. When ordering a steak be sure to not be swindled by the waiter into getting a larger steak then requested. I ordered the prime rib eye (14oz), however when ordering the waiter asked if I wanted bone in rib eye or with out (with out specifically saying that the bone in was the 24oz rib eye). So needless to say ended up with a much larger then I was expecting.
Everyone was incredibly friendly and polite. We weren't sure why we were seated in a small, side room, but it had a nice view of the wheel and lights. Service was prompt and efficient. Our steaks were cooked perfectly - I ordered mine medium-rare, but closer to the medium side and they understood and nailed it. It isn't a menu with a zillion options, but everything we had was executed very well, which trumps lots of choices done to a mediocre standard. For a steak dinner, this would be our new choice in the DMV.
We absolutely LOVED our experience here. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the wonderful ambience, and were greeted warmly by the hosts. We were celebrating a special occasion and the restaurant went out of its way to make us feel special.
Our server, Arris, was attentive and provided wonderful recommendations. Additionally, he went above and beyond to create a special appetizer option for me.
Management was close by all evening and made a stop at every single table to check on guests.
It is this kind of attention to detail that will ensure we return to Bond 45 in the future.
Tje restsurant did provide two complimentary glasses of champagne for an anniversary toast. We had a nice view of the waterfront but, for reasons unknown, we were not seated in the main restaurant The food was average. The vegetables were too oily. The lasagne was not noteworthy. We probably will not return.
