Bonaparte Ratings and Reviews
Classy ambience, delicious food, attentive staff, excellent wine. Dining at Bonaparte was a great experience and with restaurant week happening, we got a great prix fixe deal. The mushroom raviolis are a must try. The portions are generous and tasty. Wonderful experience!
Quoiqu'il y avait plusieurs places disponibles tout au long de notre présence nous avons été installés dans une partie restreinte et à l'arrière du resto plutôt que dans la grande salle vitrée. Sinon, le service était très bien ainsi que le repas.
This restaurant excels in ambiance, service, and cuisine. Wine list is replete with French wines at reasonable price. Service is impeccable. The bar boasts craft cocktails and knowledgeable bartenders. The ambiance and environs remind me of Paris. The cuisine is creatively designed variations of traditional dishes. The staff is Anglophone friendly.
The restaurant was very nice. Our waiter, Marc, was attentive and helpful but not intrusive. The food was very good, especially the Mushroom Ravioli with Sage sauce! The amount of each service was more than expected. No one left hungry. The only item not up to par was the dessert for 3 of our group. The cheesecake lacked taste and was " spongy" in texture. One of our group took the Lime Tart dessert and was quite happy with it. All in all, a very pleasant experience and we all agreed we would all return. However, I would suggest the cheesecake recipe be improved/ changed for a more delicious ending to a very good meal.
Great place. Beautiful building, courteous, attentive staff. 5 of us arrived at 6:15 without reservations. Told them we needed to be out in time for show at Centaur nextdoor. Had delicious, 3 course meal served beautifully and made it out in time. Loved this place so much, we returned on the following night to enjoy an additional, leisurely glass of wine with our 3 course dinner. Our waiter recognized us and commented, with a smile, "my girls are back". We 70 year old women were certainly not offended to be called "girls!" Loved this place...
We had a wonderful dinner at Bonaparte! We love tasting menus and theirs was a selection of fine French food. Each dish had a small twist to update, for instance the foi gras was puréed with a creme brûlée topping. It was wonderful. The wine selection was good and the waiter was helpful with suggestions. Next time we visit Montreal we will go back to Bonaparte. We highly recommend!
This was an exceptional restaurant, that I can't recommend highly enough! A perfect evening in a beautiful part of old town started with our outstanding server Janik (hopefully spelled correctly) he was what every sever should aspire to be! Our group of six all ordered from the tasting menu with different selections in each category, only $65 for five generous courses! Everyone was oohing and ahhing as they tasted their food. The mushroom raviolis were everyone's favorite, just perfection! Great wine list too.
Bonaparte is an excellent French restaurant located near the Centaur Theatre in old Montreal. The atmosphere is quiet and formal without being ornate; the food is excellent in its presentation, preparation, and unique flavour combinations. Paying $60 to $80 CAD per person (plus drinks, tax, and tip) is well worth the expense.
Outrageously, outrageous! This place was over the top when it comes to what it delivers. Tasting menu was very creative. The chef gets 10 stars for his foie gras creme brulee with diced apples. Wine list was excellent and waiter found a great bottle within our price range. We highly recommend this place. Ask for a table by the window.
The restaurant has a nice ambiance and is very romantic. However, I expected more from all the hype and the cost of the food. To be honest, the food was nothing spectacular. The service was good, albeit somewhat snooty. However, the server did bring us a little dessert with a sparkler for our anniversary. There was a very large party at the back of the room we were in, so it was somewhat noisy.
