Bonaparte Ratings and Reviews
Bonaparte offers you an elegant and authentic French dining experience without the pretense. The wait staff are attentive and accommodating, and try not hover or intrude. All of this in addition to tasty and delicious classic French food. My husband and I have eaten there several times, and we always adore our e perience.
Our first time going to Bonaparte’s for dinner and we were very impressed. The service is exceptional, the ambiance is elegant and the food is very good. We had the house specialty Mushroom Ravioli as an appetizer and it was the tastiest part of the dinner. My husband had the roast pork and I had the beef with a peppercorn sauce as the main course, both very good. The plating is beautiful and the plates are served hot which is always a nice touch. Would certainly recommend Bonaparte’s for dinner.
While the food was respectable, we were not wowed by the experience. We visited
Montreal on vacation and were hoping for a memorable meal at a top of the line restaurant. No complaints but does not stand out as one of our memorable meals. Perhaps the establishment is currently resting on its laurels.
Bonaparte used to be my favorite French restaurant , however, the most recent visit with the Visitez Montreal spécial menu , i was very disappointed with the quality of the food. We ordered duck breast and seafood pasta as the main dishes, you can’t choose how the duck cook, they only serve with medium, it seemed it had been prepared early in advance because of the busy special menu. The pasta was too soft and the quality of the seafood were so bad. I believed that because of the busy special menu they have to prepare stuffs early in advance and use cheaper quality ingredients. Very disappointed, it ruined its reputations
We were visiting Montreal from Chicago and very excited to try French food there. We were really disappointed overall. We didn't get to order a drink for 25 minutes, and didn't get a drink until we had been there for 45 minutes. We ordered the tasting menu. The salad was really good, the lobster bisque was very average. My girlfriend ordered the lamb and found the of the meat to be inedible. My fillet was very under-cooked and under-seasoned. The apple souffle and old fashioned's were delightful. Overall, we didn't get what we were looking for, for that kind of money.
Classy ambience, delicious food, attentive staff, excellent wine. Dining at Bonaparte was a great experience and with restaurant week happening, we got a great prix fixe deal. The mushroom raviolis are a must try. The portions are generous and tasty. Wonderful experience!
Quoiqu'il y avait plusieurs places disponibles tout au long de notre présence nous avons été installés dans une partie restreinte et à l'arrière du resto plutôt que dans la grande salle vitrée. Sinon, le service était très bien ainsi que le repas.
This restaurant excels in ambiance, service, and cuisine. Wine list is replete with French wines at reasonable price. Service is impeccable. The bar boasts craft cocktails and knowledgeable bartenders. The ambiance and environs remind me of Paris. The cuisine is creatively designed variations of traditional dishes. The staff is Anglophone friendly.
The restaurant was very nice. Our waiter, Marc, was attentive and helpful but not intrusive. The food was very good, especially the Mushroom Ravioli with Sage sauce! The amount of each service was more than expected. No one left hungry. The only item not up to par was the dessert for 3 of our group. The cheesecake lacked taste and was " spongy" in texture. One of our group took the Lime Tart dessert and was quite happy with it. All in all, a very pleasant experience and we all agreed we would all return. However, I would suggest the cheesecake recipe be improved/ changed for a more delicious ending to a very good meal.
