The lunch service seems to be better than the dinner one. Despite the advance booking, we had to wait for around 20 minutes to get a table. Food and service are generally okay, but too impersonal. It felt like guests were being processed on an assembly line...The menu offers limited choice and does not offer a number of classic Indian dishes.
Really phenomenal dishes
The food was so delicious I went back a second time on my five day trip.
Excellent restaurant- delicious food, many choices and service all excellent. The crispy kale dish alone makes one want to return - immediately...
Every thing was great. Could not get into Raskia so went here. Was better than the last time I was at Raskia.
A few days before my reservation I called the restaurant to request a server that had served us in the past. When we got to the restaurant they informed is that all the tables for that server were full so we could wait (which could be 20 mins or more) or get seated near his section. We decided on the latter. Next we were surprised to see our requested server bring us champagne. That was nice.
We always love all the food at this restaurant - specially the cocktails, the appetizers (Crispy Kale and Butternut Squash Samosa), chai and dessert.
Best and very authentic Indian food. Reminded me of days in Delhi.
Great fantastic food
The food was excellent but the portions are somewhat small for the price. I particularly loved the fried kale. Service and ambiance were very good. Moderately noisy but we were able to hear our friends.
Food was good, but not amazing curries were bland in the vegetarian thali and tandoori meats were on the dry side . We stopped for a quick dinner while driving to Virginia. Attracts local politicians and tourist in the area as close to White House. This restaurant has been around for a very long time.
Very unhappy with the wait and service. We booked a 7:30 res more than a week in advance and arrived on time. Place was packed. Maitre d told us to go to the bar because our table was not ready. I could tell it had overbooked. 30 minutes later without a word I went back and complained that we were leaving. With a scowl we were then seated. Waited another 5 minutes before a server came over. She was also overbooked. We were into our main courses before we got two glasss of wine. Totally unacceptable.
I've never had a bad meal or experience at the Bombay Club. I personally like the white glove British Raj feel. Food is always fantastic and the the drinks are proper.
A far better experience than I had there several years ago when the wait staff was downright rude.
Food was exquisite - large table with 20 or so at one end, with someone considered more important than other diners meant the service for us was awful
Always a good place to have an easy-to-hear conversation w/ excellent quality service and food. Second only to Rasika.
Horrible experience. We had to wait for 1 hour inspite of having a reservation. The argument from the manager was - "This is a fine dining restaurant". Complete mismanagement. IMHO, stay away and go to a restaurant where you are respected and served well.
This restaurant provides warm ambience with great service and delicious food, all for a value price.
Restaurant was overpriced
Bombay Club has had consistently good food, served in a lovely atmosphere for many years.
Heard good things about the Bombay. Patronize Indian Restaurants often. This one is very overrated, perhaps because of good ambiance and location. But all of us in our party thought the food was mediocre. In my case, I had a chicken dish and the chicken was back meat, much of it dark, as opposed to white breast meat. They are trying to save money I guess. Also, the portions were quite small, and the price was quite high. Would not recommend.
The food tasted great as usual and the presentation was well done. We were seated promptly and the service was fast and attentive. Only negative was that it was very noisy in the restaurant.
Classic food, calm atmosphere but ultimately poor value for money....
Endreas was a fabulous waiter. The crispy kale was delicious. The entire meal was memorable.
Food and service excellent, as always. Love the thali.
Best Indian food in town. Service excellent and lovely ambiance. Must try the crispy kale.
Everything was excellent. Went there Easter evening for a different experience than most restaurants on Easter. My wife and I both enjoyed everything we ate. Would recommend it to my friends when in DC. Since I live 2 1/2 hours away, not going to be able to return as often as we would like.
Service and food were amazing. Andres is the best server I’ve had in years.
My daughter and I enjoyed Easter Brunch at Bombay Club. This has become a tradition with us. We love the ambiance, the food, the live piano music, everything! The brunch buffet has a well rounded sampling so that everyone can be accommodated. This is important to me as a vegan. Bombay Club remains our favorite restaurant and we'll be back!
Food was ok but nothing special, atmosphere was better than expected but the service was horrible. I’ve never let more rushed by the waitstaff before, especially considering there were several open tables and no one waiting to be seated. This place feels passé and in need of new management.
Best salmon I have ever had. Husband loved chicken tikka. Hostess was wonderful.
Our evening (a party of 6) at Bombay Club started very well but by the end of the meal we were left very disappointed and unhappy.
Initially the service and the food were of the highest quality but it became increasingly obvious during the meal that the staff had been instructed by the management to rush us through the meal so that they could turn the table over quickly. I do not expect to be treated like this when spending almost $400 for a party of 5 (and we would have spent more if we had not left before desserts). The initial signs were subtle, for example trying to clear individual dishes and plates away even though some food was left. Then they started to over-fill our wine glasses.
We certainly did not feel that we were wasting time or eating slowly, but the waiter's look when we asked for the desert menu totally gave the game away. We were so annoyed that we just asked for the bill instead and spoke to the manager to let him know how we felt. He did offer free drinks, but by that time our special occasion had already been spoiled.
Somewhat suspiciously, the restaurant cancelled out OpenTable reservation within an hour of us leaving and I had to contact email@example.com to get the booking reinstated so that I could post this review.
I'm used to a certain standard of excellence from Bombay Club (And it's trendier sister Rasika) but this most recent visit didn't deliver. After being seated we waited a full 20-25 minutes to place a drink order, then an additional 20-25 before we could order food. While our reservation was at 915 it was well after 1030 when we left, and not because we lingered. This seemed unusual for a reservation after 9pm. No one offered an apology or even seemed to notice my friend and I were just sitting forgotten in a room by ourselves. The food was great, but my friend was from out of town and I had bragged about how special this restaurant was and was embatasdrd by the poor service (which she remarked upon). I know everyone has an off night now and again, but it's disappointing they made no effort to make up for it.
Amazing service and an amazing pianist played while we ate. Would definitely recommend.
So flavorful, so delicious. Service was on point. Food came out quickly and was prepared perfectly. I went with some Indian clients and they loved it! Very authentic.
Really wonderful dining experience with great service
Will be back
Bombay Club remains a consistent go-to for me. The food and service are always spot on. Few restaurants meet their level of service.
Wonderful birthday celebration experience.
Terrible food. Over hyped.
Food not as good as others in common ownership.
