Bombay Club Ratings and Reviews
I love the Bombay club atmosphere. I've been there twice and the food has is very disappointing. For the price I expected better quality Indian food. There are restaurants in the DMV area that have much better Indian food at half the price. I expected Bhukhara quality food which I obviously didn't get.
Visiting DC, and had the good fortune to be seated in one restaurant next to a local couple who seemed familiar with the food scene. They recommended Bombay Club. We changed some plans and went there. It was exquisite. We'd go back to DC simply TO RETURN to this restaurant.
As always, very attentive excellent service and good food. They did not offer the crispy spinach as in the past but crispy kale. Although very flavorful, the oil was heavy and not very pleasant. Crispy spinach needs to make a come back. The piano player is a very nice touch.
Friends and I had just come down to DC for the day to see an exhibit at the Renwick. Afterwards, we walked to the restaurant and were seated quite promptly even though the restaurant was quite full of other diners. The service was excellent! It was restaurant week and our choices for a 3-course lunch were all delicious -- each of us had something different and we were all quite pleased. I used to love going to the restaurant when I lived in DC many years ago and I was so happy to see that its quality and ambiance are still "top notch"!
It was restaurant week, which we were unaware of, so maybe that was to blame. All of our curry dishes (3 for our table) were very bland. The service and ambiance were great, as was the cobra coffee service that we just had to experience for ourselves. Still, all of our local indian options in Bethesda...yes, even Bethesda, score higher on pure flavor. Of night for Bombay Club? I hope so.
We have loved the Bombay Club over the years but were just a bit disappointed in our Sunday brunch there recently. We wanted to show a friend, from out of the country, one of our favorite restaurants in DC. Both my husband and I felt the food was meh plus. Not that we needed it, but their website said red meat was always offered, and there was none. The chicken dish, by the time we got to it was mostly gravy (and we were there early). I just felt the flavors of a couple vegetable dishes could have been better. This is the first time I've been disappointed there. We will go back, and try the buffet again, but Sunday was a bit disappointing.
