Bombay Club Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful experience all around. From arrival to receiving the check everything was professional and smooth. Waiter had perfect knowledge of the offerings and made substitutions without blinking an eye...
Bombay has it right, and it's nice to count them to deliver perfection.
We chose Bombay Club because it was the site of our first date, five years ago.
I noted on the reservation that it was a birthday event. We were incredibly disappointed at the poor service, which ruined dinner for us. The wait person took five minutes to ask if we wanted water (!) then left for 7-8 minutes. When she came back, we had to ask for cocktails. One of us was getting several small plates for dinner, the other soup & an entre. After asking us when we wanted the appetizers/small plates to come, they simply ignored us and all the small plates arrived with the soup. The busboys kept trying to clear the small plates we were saving for the entre; the server was nowhere to be seen. The entre arrived about 30 minutes after the soup. By the time the entre was served, the final small plate was completely cold and not very appetizing. What was particularly frustrating was that the place was swarming with busboys and servers, who kept looking at our table and the lack of progress with our dinner, but our assigned server was not available. Our reservation was not until 8:45pm and the place had really cleared out by the time the entre arrived -- although there was a large and loud private party nearby. We were so disappointed with the poor service that we didn’t even order dessert. On the way out, we told the maître ‘d -- Josh Rasolofonjoa -- how disappointed we were. His response? Call me the next time you come. ?!?!?!?! There will not be a next a time.
Clearly, the service at Bombay Club has hit the skids.
Truly one of the best restaurant experiences in Washington DC
The food and the service is just about perfect
No matter the reason this is one restaurant you must go to multiple times and realize it’s as good the first time and the next
It’s elegant it sophisticated it’s romantic it’s a business meeting
Please Take this trip to Bombay Club and you will not be disappointed
The food was fabulous and we had the best server (that's usually what makes the experience). They should get rid of all the photographs on the walls of hunters with their dead animals on ground in front of them. Very very off putting for vegetarians ( and most people).
In town for a few days and wanted Indian. This place had some unusual options compared to the traditional samosas and tikka masalas. The broiled kale appetizer was delicious. Service was alright but not outstanding and it wasn’t very busy when we got there. We went early because we had to get to a show.
Bombay Club offers great Indian food and availability for last minute dining which makes it equal to, if not better than its sister restaurant Rasika. We started with two appetizers, a scallop dish and a duck kabob and both were outstanding. For our mains, we had chicken biryani and fish curry and loved them both. A side dish of okra was also outstanding. Our waiter understood that we wanted to dine slowly and he had no issue with taking our order one course at a time. Everything was outstanding.
The food was generally very good. Our server was very friendly and made some very good recommendations. A fried Kale appetizer was outstanding, as was a dessert with cardamom ice cream. Our only disappointments were that the noise level was very high and we were seated right on top of a service station.
This is a classy traditional Indian restaurant. There were innovative dishes on the menu, e.g. The butternut squash samosas. I couldn't make up my mind on the the vegetarian dishes. The waiter recommended the vegetarian selection with samples of five different dishes. It was excellent advice. The lentil dish made a particular impression on me; apparently, it was slow cooked overnight and hence the delectable smooth texture.
We will definitely go there again when in Washington.
We eat at the Bombay Club every time we visit DC, 2 to 3 times per year. The reception staff is very welcoming and friendly: they remember our favorite table! The food is so delicious. We had duck and shrimp during our last dinner. The waiters are very helpful, kind, and professional.
We have enjoyed dining at the elegant and warm Bombay Club for many years. Wait staff are knowledgeable and charming, and the menu includes spot-on descriptions. This year when we went for Thanksgiving dinner, I was having mobility issues and was using a walker. They were more than accommodating without hovering! The restaurant is extremely accessible.
The food was excellent! Flavorful, delicious, and complex. In addition to the food, there was live piano in the background and a club like decor that provided a special atmosphere. Our waiter, Endreas, also made it special - and he made sure our kids had selections that met their tastes. The manager and host both came by to check on how we were doing. We will definitely return!
