I had a dinner last month and thought it was fabulous so booked lunch for my family and was disappointed at the inconsistency. I ordered the seafood thali. the salmon was pink raw, the shrimp was chewy and the fish in the curry was rubbery. so, overall disappointed.
I love South Asian food and was skeptical to try this restaurant. It went above expectations (especially for restaurant week) and the service was great.
High chair or booster seats needed
Good Indian food in a buffet style, but was nothing special.
It was a buffet. Potatoes dish should have been hit but served room temperature. Lamb, chicken dish each good. No random dishes provided. Cold chopped vegetables vs an Indian vegetable dish. Cost vs variety low. Would not partake in a Restaurant Week in the future.
Excellent service from the front door through the meal. Food was amazing.
The food was excellent. I went with some friends for restaurant week and we really enjoyed the experience. It definitely harkened back to old world dining with the live piano player and the white tablecloths.
We had a lovely evening at the Bombay club. Beautiful atmosphere and we loved the live piano music. The appetizers were the best I’ve had in a long time. The service was kind and professional but knew when to leave us alone. We will definitely be back.
I always enjoyed Bombay Club. Usually for the excellent brunch. This time it was a restaurant week dinner with friends. The place is as elegant as ever with a great piano player and good service. But the food was very bland and rather bland. As my Indian friend commented “cooked for the American palate”. That’s a mistake.
The food was delicious. We will go back and will take friends with us.
We were seated in an area that was designated for a large party within an hour of our reservation, so it felt rushed. The service by the waiter was outstanding and the ambiance was great. The value was great for “restaurant week” but the portions would be very small for normal dining.
Best meal ever... seriously
The best Indian food and fabulous service from Brad.
Everyone would agree that it was delicious, and the service was impeccable.
much quieter before piano started playing. Volume in room doubled
The food was delicious but the restaurant was very noisy. Guess it was to be expected during restaurant week. Packed restaurant and lively diners. Will return but hope to enjoy it during a less crowded time period.
This is my FAVORITE restaurant in DC. The service is excellent and the food is out of this world wonderful! I went there with my family for my retirement dinner ... they were all blown away by the excellent service and fantastic food.
Appetizer, entree and dessert were all very good, but none of them were outstanding. The restaurant across the street (The Oval Room) which has the same owner - and where we dined the day before, has outstanding food, and I intend to return to the Oval Room, because too few restaurants have truly outstanding food. But for very good food and excellent service, I do recommend the Bombay Club.
We adore The Bombay Club. It’s elegant dining that consistently delivers a fabulous dining experience. Wonderful wait staff. Truly a favorite.
The perfect spot for my birthday gathering, complete with wonderful piano music, a gracious, beautiful setting and marvelous Indian food. We'll be back!
Wonderful food, gracious service, old world club ambience, and gentle grand piano accompaniment made it a lovely evening. The Palak Chaat is a staple not to be missed. We had one guest who is sensitive to spice so we went with the butter chicken (so awesome), lamb shank (fine and substantial but I prefer the more flavorful Tandoori offering), Daal (true creamy comfort food), cilantro shrimp, and garlic and truffle naan. Kids had mango lassis and we enjoyed the chili G&T and St Germaine cocktails.
As always, had great experience at Bombay Club . Service, food everything was very great
I like the Bombay Club for both dinner and lunch. I refer my colleagues. The food is great!
As always, the Bombay Club is as close to perfection as necessary. Classy without being stuffy. Wait staff is attentive without being cloying. Food is wonderful.
The food just wasn’t as good as we remembered it being in the past, and the noise level was too high for easy conversation.
While the appetizers and desserts were great, we were quite disappointed with the main course. The serving staff were great and accommodated our requests for the 3 little ones dining with us.
New year eve dinner - The courses were served way to quick as if they were in Rush to move the customers. The vegetarian Thali ( main course) was not good at all ... for the price charged they should have a selection vs including a potato curry and a stale paneer curry. The quality has come down for the price they have charged
Every dish was perfectly prepared and delicious. The service was impeccable. Couldn't have asked for more.
It’s always great Bo? Did a terrific job. Garlic naan was wonderful as was the chicken tandoori.
The entire experience was wonderful: greeting upon arrival, wait staff, food presentation, quality, taste, flavour and a variety of appertizers, entrees, desserts, wines and cocktails. The restaurant was clean and a pianist was on keyboard.
Update** I changed my rating from 1 to 3. Reason being, ‘I was heard’. Thank you for acknowledgment and making me feel that you value your customers. I appreciate all the phone calls and kind gesture.
I was highly highly disappointed today. This was my 10th plus time going there. We ordered drinks, starters and main course. However, in the main course there was a hair in the chicken curry. We showed the staff. They replaced our curry. No one apologized infact, the server said, 'It has never happened and the chef said do you see hair on anyone of is'? Very very rude behavior. Not a single apology and plus seems like we put the hair in the curry. I took my friends who were visiting from another state but our evening was spoiled.
We understand the 'hair' situation which can happen anywhere but admittance and apology or curtesy was highly missing. Very rude server.
The food is just terrific and the ambiance is lovely. Not too noisy and it's an elegant spot for a special dinner.
Great place, ambiance and service. It was a bit noisy Atmosphere. May be our food selection, it was not something that will stay in my mind.
The food is reliably good, but the service is unfortunately now reliably slow. My husband and I were at the Bombay Club two weeks ago, for dinner with two other couples and the service was very slow, which we blamed on our table for six. We took our children this time, making four of us and the service may have been even slower. Drinks were slow, appetizers ten minutes after those, and dinner not only took 30 minutes, but parts of the order were missing. I only got my naan after everyone finished their meals. Piano was playing holiday songs-live-but it may have well been on a loop. The half hour waiting for our dinner, we heard White Christmas three times!
Great food, as always.
Amazing food and service! Live piano and beautiful interior.
The food was delicious but the prices were a bit ridiculous. The Naan was $4/piece and the rice portions were too small for the curry.
It was a little dark for my taste. I noticed that almost everybody was. Using a flashlight to read the menu. The eggplant dish didn’t have much flavor. The crispy kale was amazing. The service was excellent.
Fabulous food in premier WDC location. Great service and superb dish recommendations.
Food quantity very less, no variety in food for vegetarians, nothing very tasty or delicious except dal makhni n kale salad
The piano player is spectacular. So enjoyable it really enhanced the dining experience.
