Went for our anniversary. We only go on special occasions because it is typically a 45 minute drive from where we live, but well worth the effort. As always the harmony of flavors in every dish was excellent. Bolsa strikes that perfect balance of being creative and elevated without becoming pretentious. A true gem of a restaurant in the Bishop Arts district.
I ordered the BBQ pork belly on the menu at Sunday brunch but unfortunately, exactly HALF the 2 chucks / slices of pork were complete and total FAT(?!) So, not a great value, at *all*.
food was great and service was exceptional - it was a little warm but it was 95 degrees outside - we did sit inside - the atmosphere is awesome
Nothing about this meal seemed to go well. The food was mediocre, the bread pudding was extremely disappointing. The service was just bad. I had to get up and ask for S&P, then track the waiter down again to place a drink order. The menu listed items they no longer serve. It’s like no part of the experience met up with our expectations. It’s a shame, I brought a friend based on the positive reviews but definitely don’t understand the hype.
The food is good, but we haven't had good service either time we've been. The first time, we ate at the bar and the bartender was SO arrogant. This past time, we asked for dishes to be made without dairy and instead of telling us what that would entail, we were served our protein with an entire avocado and that was it. An avocado isn't a replacement for black-eyed-peas and ham hock, or for carrot puree and lentils. No one asked if that was an okay substitution; they just brought it out like that without telling us.
Always a great experience at Bolsa!
Once again, we were very happy with our lunch at Bolsa. The beet salad was substantial and the flavor was well balanced. Turkey sandwich was savory & delicious. Try the sangria! Very refreshing on a hot patio day. Love that they don’t over sweeten cocktails like many other restaurants!
Everything was absolutely delicious and the wait staff was excellent. Be careful when ordering appetizers though; you might not have room for the main course!
Great experience at Bolsa. We will be back!!
We had a group of 6 for brunch on Saturday. The service was outstanding, the food was delicious, not to mention a work of art, and the ambiance was relaxed. We had a wonderful time and will definitely go back again and again!
It was fantastic!
Great neighborhood restaurant. Always consistent, well prepared food at a reasonable price.
The food was amazing. We had a really nice time just catching up and enjoying a wonderful brunch. And Mimosas are served the way they should be! A bottle of Champagne with a side of OJ!! Nicely done!
Interesting and unique menu options - great for meat lovers - very cool restaurant
I went to bunch with a childhood friend of mine and ordered their french toast “cakes”. I must say they were absolutely DELICIOUS. I found the restaurant online and seen several reviews saying they had bottomless mimosas. Although this was a fictional fact, overall, it was still a great experience.
Not as good as I remember.
Good food, good drink, great service, fun location, and an overall great experience.
Great food to share with friends and an exceptional happy hour to boot!
Awesome food, service and overall experience. Thank you Jennifer for your impeccable timing and delivery of our meal. We will look forward to returning to Bolsa.
It had been years since I had been here, and I was thrilled to experience top notch food with less of a crowd. Phenomenal flavors! Perfect brunch patio! Great service. We’ll definitely be back.
Good food. I’d like to see the menu changed up a bit. Love the atmosphere.
Our waiter was very rude. Sat down and 10 min later he walked up and just said you want something to drink?
My wife is allergic to nuts and there were pecans on the beet salad. When I told our waiter at first he goes “uhh yeah candied pecans” I pointed out to him it was not mentioned on the menu in the description and he said oh sorry. We didn’t get it comped or anything even though my wife could have died.
The ac unit dripped on my head.
The veggie casserole is served in cast iron and served immediately from the oven so it was almost too hot to eat for 30 min.
Goat tacos are good.
Devils on a horseback are good.
A gem of a restaurant that is still at the top of its game. Service is very casual, but still professional, friendly and efficient. The beef tartare remains own of our favorite dishes in town.
Very nice restaurant. Came for Brunch. Loved the atmosphere. The food was good but not necessarily tasty. My friends actually liked the food more than I did but it was still good. Loved the mimosas!!! Will def be going back
I'm a Bolsa regular, and brunch at Bolsa never disappoints. The food is delicious. My husband is an ominvore; I am big on veggies and fish. There's something on the menu for everyone but perhaps vegans, although the menu is pretty small. The food is lovingly crafted with much attention to detail: the buttery and flaky crust on the veggie and egg skillet, the delicate sauce served over perfectly lightly-fried shrimp, the bursting-with-flavor sauce on every evenly-cooked flatbread. Service is always professional and friendly without being over-solicitous and making diners feel rushed. My reason for giving Bolsa a lower rating on atmosphere is simply because it is summer and the air conditioner has *never* worked properly at this place. Fans are strategically placed around, but for people who don't like air blowing on their face and eyes while they're eating, this isn't ideal, and they don't help much anyway. We don't visit Bolsa as often in the summer months for this reason. Just wear something cool and comfortable, and know it's going to be warm in there. If you don't mind that: the food and service are certainly superb!
What a great find. We were looking for a nice an convenient place for a number of friends to meet up for brunch and instead stumbled upon a gem. The service is impeccable from the host greeting you, to the attentive efficient dining room team. The food was well prepared, perfectly portioned and made the ingredients shine. Its funny how many other mediocre restaurants have made “best of” and “must” lists but that this great establishment has not appeared and overlooked. Make this a destination dining spot (since it is a bit off the Bishop Arts foot traffic area) and discover what a great attitude free dining can be.
This was the first time I’ve had brunch at Bolsa, and WOW. The French toast “cakes” were hands down the best French toast I’ve ever had. I asked the server how they were made and they’re made from bread pudding. Genius! So I wouldn’t have a sugar crash, and my SO and I split the toast, I also ordered the chilaquiles with chorizo. Extremely generous portion and absolutely delicious.
Great service! Sat on their covered patio, food was amazing
Cheese board and beef tartare were good. Rest was not
Jennifer, our waitress, was wonderful! She was friendly and helpful with selecting our courses. The food was very tasty and the drinks were incredible. I recommend the bacon wrapped figs, the beet salad, the chicken thighs and too drink, the Mad Hatter if it is on the menu (their drinks are seasonal).
Fast service for brunch. Relaxing atmosphere. Food was good.
Great brunch - we loved the food and the patio area. We will definitely be back!
We had reservations, but when we showed up we were told that we had to sit outside. The kids were not very happy about it (one of them has a cast on his foot, and is using crutches). It was my wife’s birthday, and she loves the place, so she didn’t really mind, until the end of our dinner. I wasn’t happy with the timeliness or attention level of the staff through the night. We were expecting a good experience, but the manager brought the C game. He didn’t really care about us having to sit outside, my wife’s birthday (which I shared with him), or really anything. When we left I noticed him sitting at the bar reading a magazine, while he had only one server assigned to the entire patio area. We drive from FTW to eat here. Pretty sad night.
I asked the waiter whether the blackened fish was spicy & he said no, but somewhere there was a disconnect . The dish was quite spicy & I left most of it uneaten. Also the restaurant even in main dining room was pretty toasty... not my best experience at Bolsa. I was disappointed.
We've been to Bolsa a few times, but it's been a few years since our last visit - good to know that things are as AMAZING as I remember. The food and service were on point with our entire party commenting on the fantastic experience. We waited for our table at the bar - it took ~20 minutes to be seated with a reservation, but the host checked on us and could not have been nicer - at the bar, we had a great chat with our bartender as we had a drink and then onto the table where shared appetizers - I HIGHLY recommend both the bruschetta and pastrami - and had dinner with a bottle of wine or two mixed into the meal. Outstanding dining experience! We certainly won't wait another few years before we return.
We got engaged at Bolsa and first met at Bolsa 2.5 years ago
We love Bolsa - we discovered it one rainy afternoon a few years ago.
A cozy neighborhood restaurant/bar atmosphere with some delicious food!
They are always willing to make a special plate for me when I come and am
watching my nutrition - so for a delicious healthy conscience meal - just ask
them to make you The Lewelen (vegan sugar free). One day they may put it on
We got the flatbread to start which was great, however both of the entrees we got were bland and lacked seasoning and a depth of flavor. It felt like the dishes had a lot of potential but nobody cared to find it.
The good- The food was terrific and the service was average. The Bad- When we arrived there was no one to greet us, not a real problem. The problem arose when I asked an employee, Kyle when should we expect a hostess. I was surprised his response was rude and semi belligerent. I understand that hostessing is not your job, but the lack of respect for customers was appalling. The Ugly- They have a problem with flies.
The food here is average. I wouldn't recommend the chilaquiles as it comes pretty soggy. The pork belly brunch is good though.
