Named for a move from the Argentine tango, Boleo brings the dramatic flavors and sultry beats of South America to the best rooftop in the Loop for Chicagoans to enjoy year-round. Forget the 15-hour flight: All it takes to get to Boleo is a 15-story elevator ride to the top of The Kimpton Gray Hotel.View Private Dining Details
Ambiance is really nice. Great to meet a friend up, or a quick small bite/ drink. Their food, is ridiculously overpriced and really small portions. Drinks are watered down. The set up is pretty, great location, but nothing impressive considering their prices for what they provide.
We had a nice time hanging out at Boleo, it felt like a backyard get away. Very comfy and relaxing. The food was great and was very filling, we had about 3 portions per person.
Boleo is a great spot for drinks after work and snacks. They have awesome Peruvian dishes!
Boleo was not what we expected. It initially got on our radar when we watched Beat Bobby Flay. Drinks were great, but food was okay. Nothing spectacular. Ambiance is fantastic, with the retractable rooftop, which is what drew us to the place. Unfortunately it started raining while we were seated under the rooftop so we were seated at a new table. The kitchen closed only 45 minutes after we were seated at a new table and bar closed about 1.5 hour after, which really was unexpected and unfortunate as we would have liked to take our time with dinner/drinks. Overall, food was okay and our experience wasn't great. I would say the only reason we would return is for happy hour drinks.
We went on a Thursday for happy hour. The happy hour rosé was great, as were the coktails we ordered off the happy hour menu. We had steak skewers, shrimp skewers and calimari, all of which were very tasty!
The hostess with the blue pigtails was so rude. A group of us came to eat and before we had a chance to order she just came and took our menus away with out notice. The manager on duty was Very professional he turned a bad experience to an Amazing One! So a special thank you to the Manager and server we had on the Friday August 24th party of 5 at 9:45pm.
Small plate approach which let us try several things. Loved the yucca fries and plantain chips. Empanadas were good but fried (prefer baked). The pisco sour was disappointing but the pisco with nutmeg was divine. It was quite loud in the restaurant, however. Server was knowledgeable but our second round of drinks was free because of the time it took to get them.
The staff of Boleo are gracious and hard working. We appreciated the level of service for a large group. Well done.
It was way too loud. A DJ with dance music is not what I am looking for when I go out to dinner. Food and service were excellent, but atmosphere was not. Our server, Jesse, was attentive and friendly.
I celebrated my 31st birthday with a few of my friends. I had an amazing time, although I did have to wait for an hour for my requested table the manager comp us two rounds of drinks. Loved the atmosphere, we all had a great time and the tapas were amazing. Would for sure come back.
First visit to Boleo and everything was top-notch - we were there for Happy Hour and while we didn't order any food, the beer and wine were on-point. The space is very nice and the retractable roof and a sunny, warm day greatly added to the experience!
The service at the host stand and the servers was outstanding - on their game! One of my friends is possibly going to host an event for her team at work!
I will definitely return and will try the food next time.
I’ve brought groups of friends here a few times; every visit has been delightful. The seafood tastes remarkably fresh, and all the flavors are bright and creative. The ceviche, empanadas, and papas rellenas are not to be missed. Eat a bit earlier if you want a quieter experience. Come after 8 if you want to catch music and dance underneath the open rooftop!
We went to Boleo as couples outing over the weekend and really enjoyed the place. The server and the manager were great and made some great recommendations for us to try Peruvian cuisine (first time for few in the party). Great vegetarian options as well us some tasty non-veg/sea food. Unique drinks, great presentation, awesome ambiance with happy people around. Everyone was pleasantly surprised and loved the choice of place, drinks and food.
What a nice surprise! I booked fairly last minute for summer Saturday GNO in Chicago. I didn't even notice when I booked that this is a rooftop. When we got there, the place was not super busy and the view was GORGEOUS! We were seated at a HUGE sofa with tables which was perfect for their small shared plates. If you are looking for a fun spot with friends to try yummy cocktails and inventive little bites, this place couldn't be more perfect. Perfect pre-show spot!
I have only wonderful things to say about Boleo! This may be my new favorite rooftop bar. The manager is so accommodating and nice. The waiters are the perfect balance of - making sure to check on you to see if you need something and staying away so you can enjoy your evening. The food and drinks are delicious.
The ambiance is amazing! Open air dining and beverages- delicious! Very cool setting! Pianist an added delight!
A wonderful slice of Argentine cuisine
Boleo was great for an afterwork happy hour drink. We were very impressed with the cocktails and the skewers!
Staff is so inattentive, we came for happy hour and our server didn't even know what the draft beer was. I was told they didnt have space and then when i checked open table, i was able to make a reservation at the exact same time. Then we waited for an extremely long time for our drinks and for the check. Terrible customer service and mediocre food and drinks. There a plenty of better rooftops in Chicago, dont waste your time here.
Food was delicious and we enjoyed the fun atmosphere at Boleo very much! I would totally recommend it to someone looking for a tapas-style restaurant.
We went as a group to celebrate my birthday and it was such a good time! Everyone was very nice and the space was beautiful.
Great vibe, great food and the retractable roof is awesome.
I arrived at the time on my OpenTable reservation to find the restaurant was closed. The people at the arrival desk for the hotel told me there was obviously a mistake in the app because the restaurant is always closed until later in the day. Please fix the hours so that no one can make a reservation when the restaurant is actually closed. I’d also suggest that you fix the app so that people can leave feedback without having to actually leave a rating for the restaurant itself in a case like this.
Go here!!! Boleo was amazing. I made reservations for a bachelorette party and couldn't be more pleased. A large couch was reserved for us directly under their retractable roof (it also helped that the weather was perfect!). The vibe and decor are awesome--upscale and chic as you would expect in this area without being snooty. Group drinks were reasonably priced for the area and the presentation was amazing! Definitely instagram-worthy, if that's your thing. The manager came over and was very friendly, and he quickly sent over complimentary sparkling rose for us! Would definitely come back here for drinks.
Good food, not recommended for large party sizes. Tapas are better for smaller groups of people. Expensive, should reduce pricing with more food.
Food was great and so was the music. Staff was awesome
Lovely decor. Wonderful service staff. Very attentive and polite and friendly.
Food was lovely. If you’re not an adventurous eater don’t come here. There’s nothing boring or usual about this menu.
Prices average for what you’re getting and the location, setting of the restaurant.
Very small menu which I love. It means everything is made fresh and made well. Menu is confusing if you’re not familiar with this cuisine but the staff are very nice about explaining every detail and we’re very polite and patient about it.
We don’t eat red meat or alcohol so they were very thorough to let us know what we could eat.
I had a virgin mohita and it’s one of the better ones I’ve had.
It was absolutely freezing when we went there in a heat wave, so maybe take a jacket to wear once you sit down to eat.
Roof top did not open and I’m guessing this might have been as it was so hot outside? I didn’t really ask.
It was a lovely treat and my little one was very brave and ate some baby octopus! Me...not as brave ha!
It’s ok the top of the Kimpton Gray so if you’re staying there it’s definitely worth a trip.
Nice place with good food but unfortunately we were 4 and the small tapas plates came one by one with 10 minutes minimum waiting in between which was totally inconvenient especially when you are hungry ... Therefore we would not recommend this restaurant.
Outstanding food and service! Highly recommend Boleo!
We had a wonderful time, food was excellent, wait staff was helpful. It was quite loud though
Great bites! Perfect spot with a group of friends to kick off the weekend!
What a find!!! We wanted something within walking distance to the Blue Line in the loop and thought that tapas would be tasty and fast. Boy were we delighted with this meal! First we discovered it is on the roof and as it was nice, the roof was open and had a spectacular view. Our server was attentive, the food was as good as it sounded - pulpito (octopus), pork belly, yucca fries and ceviche just to make a few - all delicious. The drinks were fun and exciting too. We came for a quick meal and had a feast (and was still out in perfect time). We’ll be back!
Came in on a Saturday night with reservations and got seated immediately. The server was super friendly and easy going. Tried a couple different drinks, as their drink menu was intriguing. The food is tapas style, so small portions, shareable. Also tried a few different plates and loved all of it. Would definitely recommend to try.
The food and drinks were amazing. The service was top notch. They went above and beyond to accommodate my husband and I. I can’t wait to go back!
The staff was great! The hostess was super accommodating, the bartenders where attentive and our waitress, Molly, did a great job with our large group.
I love the cocktail list but I do wish they had more of a varity for Happy hour. The happy hour list includes only 2 pisco cocktails (one of which they didn't even have) two wines on tap and some beers.
The atmosphere was beautiful but the acoustics are terrible. Sound was just bouncing back and forth of the walls so it was very hard to hear my friends sitting directly across from me.
Food was amazing! Chef brought food to the table. Great music. Just wished we had the full dinner menu instead of the late night menu. Missed out.
Boleo is such a hidden gem! While all the crowds hover over river north and downtown rooftops I’m chilling at Boleo. I live for that retractable roof! Although Chicago weather is unpredictable we happened to be there on an absolutely beautiful night! Drinks were on point, DJ was spinning, service was good, ambience is what you come back for!
Went in for an after work drink with a friend. drinks and food were great. Pricey, but well worth it!
Very cool interior design but I should've read the menu before as their main attraction is drinks vs. food. They had small plates vs. a full menu. So I was disappointed because we came for dinner. Also, $9 for yucca fries seems pretty high. Overall, would recommend this spot for drinks vs. dinner.
