We were visiting Chicago from Raleigh, NC. Had a wonderful dining experience.
Food and service were fantastic. When we entered greeter wished my wife happy birthday as did waiter. In a room with a wall of staghorn ferns and stately but silly portraits. Tasting menu wonderful with easy accommodation of wife not eating meat. Wine accompaniment good value. Service was both informal, knowledgeable and extremely attentive.
Food was exceptional! Steak tartare was beyond amazing!! Have never experienced such exceptional flavors. Highly recommend
One of the best culinary experiences i ever had. Expensive but well worth it. Had the Chef’s tasting menu with my Wife and we are still in awe a day later. The service is as exceptional as the food. The perfect place for any special occasion.

Boka was a revelation! We have dined at Boka a number of times since it opened, and sometimes it has been sublime, other times merely good and once a disaster. This was probably the best meal we've ever had, and we are thrilled Boka is back to what it was. Our food was thoughtfully & creatively prepared & full of flavors that popped and delighted the tongue! Our meal was a sumptuous from the first bite to the last. Even the amuse bouche, smoked carrot spread on nori chips, was pitch-perfect and full of flavor. Luscious standouts were the tender and savory braised Spanish octopus with fennel; a carrot appetizer that makes one rethink carrots due to its delectability; Sunchoke Agnolotti with prunes, pecorino & crispy chicken skin, which was a marvel of flavor & texture, and some of the best venison we've ever had, perfectly roasted with its intensity highlighted by toothsome caramelized celery root, cabbage & morcilla. Thank you Boka for understanding the value of venison when so many other chefs & restaurants tossed it as being out of fashion. Service was generous & attentive without being overbearing. We will happily return to Boka sooner rather than later & we can't recommend it highly enough to anyone who wants a demonstration of Chicago's wildly creative cuisine.
AMAZING! Chefs lee and meg have talented team to back them up in their absence on a Monday. I brought Chef friends from nyc to my old hood and they were FREAKED at how incredible EVERYTHING was. We have all eaten at the best restaurants in the world and BOKA WAS PHENOMENAL! Thank you all who contributed to one of the best dining experiences ever! Congratulations on the James beard nomination. Well deserved and see you at the awards! Fork and knife crossed you win!!
Inspired cuisine. Friendly, informed staff. What was just our "last night in Chicago" dinner ended up being quite special thanks to selecting Boka. Fun shopping nearby and the Steppenwolf across the street.

This was our 10th time visiting Boka. Unfortunately it'll be our last. The food was not good and we were all disappointed.
We got off to a rocky start, having to wait 30 minutes beyond our reservation time for our table. The staff didn’t even offer an apology. Our waitress was fine, although her voice was so loud it was an insult to our ears. The room was pleasant, but not remarkable or particularly cozy. The food was good, but didn’t warrant the price. Such a great city in which to eat, skip this one.
We did the 9 course tasting menu, which was overall a really good experience. Several of the dishes, however, contained a very similar extremely rich sauce that I didn’t care for (my date didn’t mind it). I found myself eating around the sauce with nearly all of the dishes. The sea bass, venison, and desserts were all unbelievable, definitely the highlights of the meal. The atmosphere is beautiful and the service is impeccable.
Once again the food and service were impeccable, the surroundings inviting, and the dinner a source of pleasure for all four of us. We'd brought our grandson and his girlfriend, and they really appreciated what a special meal we had...

From the start when you walk in the door the staff is professional and friendly. You immediately realize you are in for a treat. Then it’s Christmas with the cocktails and your birthday with every delicious bite of absolutely any/everything on the menu. Don’t you dare skip dessert (and a cordial pairing). If you are lucky you might also learn a lot from the very well versed staff about what special ingedients and care goes into every sip and bite. Highly recommend.

We went to Boka before Steppenwolf. They were very accommodating, even asking us what time we'd like to leave so they could time it properly. It was during the week, so we didn't feel like having the full chef's selection (although it looked awesome). We shared the duck for 2--an amazing dish. One of us had the carrot starter. I just wanted a salad, and they immediately agreed that they could put together a garden salad--absolutely delicious. The wine list included fairly priced, high quality French wines. Cocktails were also amazing.

We had a lovely first wedding anniversary dinner at BOKA! Skip the tasting course - order a hot and cold appetizer and and entree - WOW! Indulge in a specialty cocktail and order a glass of wine too. Bravo!

This is one of our all time special dining experiences! The service was amazing! There was a table of very loud young women celebrating a birthday and our waiter knew they were bothering everyone in the room! Without us asking, he moved us to a quite table to finish our meal! It was over the top great attention to us! We can’t wait to return next time we are in Chicago!

Boka is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago and the entire U.S. The food is consistently top notch. The tagliatini with scallops was exceptional and the succulent, braised short ribs were perfectly prepared. The Von Strasser 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon was a perfect compliment to the short ribs. My servers, Jen and Nicole were very knowledgeable and attentive yet not interruptive. Superior service!
I highly recommend Boka. It deserves three Michelin stars!
