We had a fairly good experience. However, the portions were smaller than we expected for the price and the food lacked flavor. Another factor that detracted from the experience was that they allow patrons to bring their dogs into the restaurant with them. I had to eat next to a large poodle which was not enjoyable.
It seemed to be trying to do too much. For example the grilled brisket hash seemed like a good simple idea, but the dill (?) sauce was out of place. The stacked pork enchiladas were good, but it was more like a stacked chalupa. The avocado toast was interesting. It was more of a nut bread than anything. The bread was about 80% sliced nuts. The service was great, the atmosphere was great, the location was great. It was a bit over priced, especially for what you got.
Everything was wonderful especially the beer bread
I liked this place! I came here with two friends for brunch. The service was very good! Our waiter was nice and friendly. Manager on duty cleared our plates when we were done and asked how everything was. Overall great!
I had the kale salad and was surprised they used curly kale that wasn't massaged. Maybe I'm used to eating at more upscale places? But if you're in downtown Austin, you should be preparing kale properly. I kind of felt like I was eating kale from Pizza Hut. But the vinaigrette was tasty.
I would go back!
Great service and the food was as well. Sat on rear deck, and really enjoyed ourselves.
Great food, great fun. We sat at the service bar and watched the chef lead the team. Staff is engaging and food was fantastic.
Exquisite food. Best breakfast hash I have had in a long time. Service was good. Overall a great dining experience, and would highly recommend!
Amazing food! We had the best time at Boiler Nine and would highly recommend it to anyone !
Upstairs looked lovely and the roof deck had fun views but the basement was nice and cold in the 100+ degree heat. Our waiter was great -- very conscientious about alerting us the upcoming end of Happy Hour prices (we had arrived shortly before) and patient with our many questions.
Overall great experience. Only complaint is that two people in our party was served well before the other two. I just hate that, the people served don’t want to be rude and start eating while those waiting to be served uncomfortably look around the restaurant for their food as the meals on the table get cold. Please just serve everyone one at the same time.
Good food, cool atmosphere
There are trains that run about 50 yards from the patio, the drinks are mediocre at best, and the menu is completely incoherent in theme. Also wondering why everyone who worked there was dressed as a tennis player? People who work there were friendly, however.
Great food but terrible service. We weren't really assigned a waiter so we had a few bartenders coming to take our orders. Waited a long time to even be able to place an order
Got there a 15 minutes before our 6:45 reservation for an early dinner. Not crowded. Took us upstairs and sat us at the back table, worst on the floor. One other close table occupied by another couple. Asked to move to an open table with view over bar. They said that table was requested special by someone at 6:45. Hmmm. A few minutes later asked to move to other table was just cleaned. They are reserving it and other tables for a party of 12. Hmmm. Ordered food. Limited menu but food was good. Wife had pasta with chicken and I had Panzanella Chicken. Both were pretty good but was surprised the pasta had the exact same big piece of chicken breast on it as mine. Waitress was fine. We finished 45min later. The first table folks never arrived. The party of twelve, which was actually only eight had been there for 5 minutes. Manager half heartedly apologized to us on our way out. I don’t like special treatment to others when I made a reservation. I hope it was worth it. We won’t go back. We won’t recommend it to our foodie friends. It wasn’t worth a repeat.
The food & service were on point!
First time coming here and won't be our last. Great place.....
Boiler Nine was a mixed experience, but trended towards positive. The bread appetizer was a standout, the spread verging in delightful and the bread itself as moist as French toast. It was devoured.
The burgers were good, but did not standout. As I’m sure the restaurant might anticipate, the structure of asking for increased prices for each additional add on creates for a transactional experience that takes away from the meal. It’s assuredly necessary for a restaurant to charge for more expensive add ons, but they must also take into account how this will affect the customer’s dining.
The cocktails were a low point for me. I found the jungle drums was uninspired and tasted like a simple juice, and although the peach sour met expectations it certainly did not surpass them. I did not get to try my partners Devil’s Cup, but he wasn’t singing it’s praises.
With that said, service was on point, and the food was tasty, if not exceptional. For the price point I’ll look elsewhere, but I nonetheless enjoyed my dinner.
Food was great. Love the salmon. Upstairs the noise level seems exceptionally loud.
We gathered a multi-generational group, sitting outside to have more quiet for talking. The service was great - attentive and responsive. Can't say enough about the food! The menu describes dishes clearly, and the flavors (even the unusual combinations) were scrumptious. Meats were extremely tender, vegetables perfect. We were too full for desert, unfortunately.
Excellent food. We had the pasta and the brisket. Service was ok. She seemed like she was rushing us out.
GREAT place with good food, fun and friendly staff and cool interior. Avoid outside seating as that is as sad as the interior is fun!
One of our best dinners while visiting Texas. Great apps and drinks on the rooftop. The dinner downstairs was perfectly prepared with fun friendly service. The bourbon cake was a plate licker.
My girlfriend and I had an excellent time, service was prompt and polite. But let's be real, the food is what was worth coming for 👍
The food here was amazing! We got the cheese board for a starter and for entrees the bucatini (I added shrimp), linguine, and the burger. All were just absolutely amazing! I originally wanted to scallops but they ran out (we had a late dinner). a friend also has been and raved about the ribs but those were sold out also. Obviously those are popular choices as well! We got some cocktails that were really good also! The Isabella and Green Velvet. Overall, this place is so unique with it's ambiance and will remain a must when I am visiting ATX! Be sure to go upstairs and check out their rooftop seating!! Thanks, Boiler Nine for a great time!
Boiler Nine is a fabulous restaurant! Centrally located in Austin, Tx. I highly recommend as the menu and wine selection has something for everyone’s taste/ celebrations. The salmon dish I had was amazingly fresh and popped with complimentary flavors of roasted veggies, a mustard sauce and dill. The Gorgonzola stuffed dates w bacon jam and a spicy pepper purée is absolutely delicious! My husband had the burger with avocado and homemade potato chips, all very delicious and filling. We were greeted upon entering and our hostess seated and attended to our requests with a smile. The observation deck is great for drinks and a view. The courtyard area outdoors is great for a short walk after dinner.
The underground level is super cool. Food is magestic. Love the dj music. I recomend this place for a birthday celebration with friends.
Good all around experience. Friendly service and a nice wine and cocktail list. One item that differs from their neighbor True Food is they won't bring the parking validation to the table and you must pick it up at the hostess stand, otherwise the garage will bill for you for the entire parking duration.
Family in town
I had a vegetarian dish that was quite tasty, however for $19, I expected more than just a bowl of pasta. A small side salad and bread served with the pasta was expected. My husband had a $16 hamburger that he said was quite tasty but it came only with chips, not fries or onion rings.
On the on-line reservation system, only high top tables were available although when we arrived there were plenty of regular tables available, and the hostess was kind enough to sit us elsewhere. We were inside the boiler room of the old Seaholm plant, which was kind of cool, but the lighting was so poor, we could not read our menus with the light on the phone.
My favorite place in all of Austin! Best food and service
First, looks great. Bartender Stephen was excellent. Manager was very apologetic.
But, why you ask?
My wife and I were seated outside on the patio at 8:30 on a Saturday night. Place was bustling but not crazy busy. And we waited. And waited. And waited. Not one offer of water. Not a hello. No menus. Just sat there 15-20 minutes while wait staff wandered by us.
So we left. Went to True Food nearby. That place was great.
Lived up to all the hype. I would go there again in a minute. Scallops, yummy.
Upscale bar food with good drink prices - especially for happy hour. Burger was terrific and the fries were unique. The flatbread was a little overcooked, but still very tasty. We would try again. The Texas Butchers cut was expensive for the amount of actual meat on the plate...again, tasted great. The scallops were recommended (along with the above items) but we didn't try them. Overall a very good experience for the first try and we will be back.
We were expecting things to be a bit more “upbeat” for our girls night out. It was actually a great place for a date night.
I eat here whenever I get the chance. The food is so fresh and delicious and the cocktails are amazing. I eat a vegan diet, without oil. It makes it difficult for me to dine out. The chef always makes me something delicious that I can eat. My friends ate off the menu and couldn't stop raving about how good it was.
Amazing as always!
First time visitor. Loved the decor and thought the restaurant was beautiful. Whomever selects the music has great taste! LOVED the playlist. My friend says the downstairs lounge was cool. The staff was good but didn’t stand out in any way. The cocktails were yummy! Really enjoyed the taste and creativity...and was pleasantly surprised that they were on happy hour (though still too pricey), because no one told us about any happy hour specials. The meal was meh. Not horrible, but wasn’t memorable either. I had the burger, and it was subpar. It comes with chips but waitress asked if we’d rather have salad instead. Great! She did NOT, however, tell us about the $4 upcharge for that. NOT COOL. I’d go back for a couple drinks but not the food.
Food was amazing, however the noise level was obnoxious. Had to leave, couldn't hear myself think. Table of 6 next to us and concrete walls made for a noisy evening.
Too bad, the food we did have was incredible.
NOTE: Request Table Inside or Upstairs
Good food and cocktails! Unfortunately we got seated outside next to the train tracks with ZERO ambiance or character. Plus we had to pause conversation a few times while train rolled by slowly. I was really looking forward to the cool venue but got screwed by the hostess even with a reservation. I want to come back but will request a different table
Loved the ambiance. The structural design enhanced the environment and enjoyment. Amazing scallops!!!
