Bohemia is a Modern British restaurant situated in Birmingham’s buzzing Selly Oak area. This exciting addition to Birmingham's restaurant scene adds a continental feel to the area. Open almost all day, you can pop in for an afternoon lite bite with fair trade coffee or enjoy the more formal evening air at this smart and contemporary establishment. True to its name, Bohemia offers wonderfully relaxed and chilled vibe, and diners are made to feel instantly at ease. Head Chef Ross has created an exciting Modern British menu that changes monthly so you have a new array of choices upon every return visit. Diners love dishes like herb sausage, black pudding and duck egg terrine with plum tomato chutney; poached cod fillet with garlic, chilli and coriander butter; slow-cooked rib of beef with chorizo, dauphinoise potatoes; and Pimms and lemonade jelly with homemade strawberry clotted cream ice cream. Bohemia runs regular jazz nights, acoustic nights and comedy evenings.

We made a reservation that was confirmed. We arrived at the appointed hour, to find the restaurant closed. We called the number on the web site, and after a while, finally reached a person who said that the restaurant was not open. We assume that it has closed permanently.

A small venue seating around 28, waitress very nice, good sized portions and well cooked. The service was very slow which was frustrating. A larger party arrived and filled the passageway making it difficult for the waitress to pass and their banter was loud. Considering the cost of the food I would have expected better napkins than the flimsy paper ones provided. The waitresses were helping in the kitchen between serving so maybe more kitchen staff would solve the waiting time problem.

The waitress was very accomodating - there was no full bottle of the two wines that we asked for and so we were given 2 generous part bottles for the cost of one bottle. The food was simple but extremely tasty!

3 of our four meals were good but the prawns linguine wasn't so nice. There was only one other table of four apart from ourselves but the food was a very long time coming. It would have been nice for the chef to come out and say hello as it is such an intimate restaurant. We will come again.

This was our first visit to Bohemia since the change of ownership. It was a midweek evening and the restaurant was, and remained, empty other than for our small group. The service provided by the waitress was excellent and the food when it arrived was very good; however a 55 minute wait for starters and a further 35 minute wait for main courses seemed inexplicable, bearing in mind the lack of custom.

4 of us came for a quiet get-together. Really nice place and excellent value for money. The steak and chips was really delicious - in fact, the chunky chips were absolutely delicious! For the money I would recommend this to anyone. The restaurant is small and on the night we are there (Saturday) there were about 14 diners. We shall be back!

If you're looking for some good English food small, quiet and excellent restaurant this is the place to be Our party of 4 had an excellent excellent meal. It is worth bearing in mind steak shells it is worth bearing in mind steak sells out if you get s table of 8 ladies in to eat dinner 😀
