Bodega Ratings and Reviews
Great food and good service. Our group of 6 came here on a Friday night during the Summerlicious Event. The restaurant has a patio for outdoor dining but we chose to sit inside, which is cozy. Food was served promptly and very good flavours. Most of us ordered steak frites, and it was served medium rare, as requested. We all enjoyed our meals and would return in future.
We were the first few customers there, but it took such a long time to bring out every dishes. As it was the summerliious menu, I thought the food should be well prepared. The food was too salty, nothing special. The staff were inexperence, as my friend carelessly spilt some water on the table, she saw it but just did nothing, still put the dish on the table. So we have to wipe the table with our napkin by ourselves. No air conditioning inside. Not recommended.
Bodega offered us a retreat from a busy and hot day of sight-seeing and attending a baseball game. The food was beautifully plated and very high quality. We also enjoyed the Canadian wine—we actually found the vineyard and bought a couple of bottles on our way home. The service was competent and casual—very nice. We ordered the prix fixe, which was a very good value considering we were hungry after a long day. The only reason I didn't give the food five stars is that it wasn't super high end, but everything was very good and hit the spot.
Excellent food . Nice atmosphere. We came in at happy hour and were in time to get the special prices for wine . However we were glad we took a closer look at the check as the bill showed the regular prices. We told our server and he quickly had it corrected. The restaurant is very good however what would make it great would be that they paid attention to how they prepare the bills so that the patrons do not have to go through the procedure to ask for corrections.
Everyone was happy with their dinner! We thought about sitting outside, but the pollen was a bit much and so the host encouraged us to sit at a very nice round table seating 6. La Bodega was able to handle all of the different food needs for our three couples. We started sharing a bottle of Cava and had the wonderful bread while we looked at the menu. I think that we ordered and shared each item on the appetizer menu. We ordered a few bottles of red..starting with a zinfandel. We had entrees ranging from duck confit to 'lamb burgers'. We had a dinner with good friends! BTW, we parked at the Green P on McCaul Street and easily walked the two blocks.
If this restaurant is billed as classic French, it is suffering from an identity crisis as there is no hint of French in the ambiance or the food. The décor is worn, tired and tavern like. The staff, unwelcoming. The service, slow and unprofessional. The food, passable but not memorable. A disappointment for anyone who remembers what the Bodega once was.
W Raffi Ed and here was a table for us. The service was attentive and prompt, the food was very tasty. The soup was flavour full and the lamb was done to perfection.
My guest had the salmon which was pink but firm just as my guest has asked.
There were two large parties last night, which made it quite noisy and we did have to shout sometime to get heard.
My daughter and I went to Bodega for Mother's Day dinner. The place was somewhat noisy but that was to be expected. We were seated quickly and when we asked for a quieter table, we were given one with no problem. The food was tasty although a little pricey for what was included. Although the website advertised fixed price dinners, the ones on the menu for mother's day were not the same as shown on the website, and a little disappointing. It was nice that nobody rushed us to leave and we were able to sit and have a relaxing conversation.
Overall, great experience. The only drawback was that we were seated about 30 minutes after our reservation time because our table was not ready. We were told that the current guests were just finishing up. Personally, if I make a reservation for a certain time, and I arrive at the restaurant at that time, I expect to be seated right away.
The food was good, and the service was decent, so it made up for the timing hick-up.
Would like to give this restaurant a better review, but unfortunately our first impression wasn't ideal. We showed up right on time for our reservation and was attended to right away, however when they left to check on the status of our table no one returned and we waited 15-20 mins for someone else to ask if we had been helped.
One guest had the soup starter which tasted great, but was barely at room temperature. Same goes with the first round of coffee we were served.
Besides that, the rest of our dishes were pretty tasty - if they would just draw some more attention to the finer details, Bodega could end up being a recommended spot for sure.
This is my third or fourth time here and I come back because the experience is solid. This time I invited the boss, so I definitely needed something reliable and Bodega is always that. Established but relaxed, refined but not pretentious. Prix fixe worked for us both. Appetizer was carrot caraway and delicious. They didn't have the rabbit terrine as posted which is too bad, so i can't give full marks. I had the chicken, which came with the skin... Interesting... and it worked... With morel sauce, which was velvety, nutty, a perfect compliment, the bird never had it so good. :) Then ice cream and berries for dessert, very fresh. Lovely food and service made for a smooth working dinner.
My wife & I have been coming here since 1993, when I proposed to my wife at Bodega. It's been consistently excellent over the years, with interesting variations to the menu each time. Our latest visit this past Valentines Day lived up to previous times, the Prix Fixe offered both of us wonderful choices, and staff was most helpful & friendly. So, most highly recommended.
Stopped in for a late dinner on a Thursday night with my family. Atmosphere was great. The staff was friendly and attentive. They accommodated a menu alteration readily and made great suggestions. Food was great and we all enjoyed our meals - skirt steak was perfectly cooked and tender, seafood was creative and the risotto hit the spot (with some creative additions from the chef) Would definitely recommend
