The menu consists of original items created by Chef Michael Armstrong, as well as a small selection of signature dishes available at the UK location. Bodega Negra Ratings and Reviews
Celebrated my daughters 18th birthday with8 teenage girls!! It’s a Super fun place for these types of occasions s and the wait staff are very friendly, the music is fun and the food is good and shareable. Perfect for a big group particularly if you do t mind hip hop music and a loud environment. Wide range of Mexican fusion.
Went there for the first time for my boyfriends birthday the wait for our table was a little long even tho we made a reservation but once we sat down it was a great experience, food was amazing waiter was very energetic i will definitely be returning back .
First of all, my reservation was at 10:45 got there on time but I was seated one hour later... we went to th bar and I ordered at $19 “smoking scorpion drink” it was supposed to be served in a open flame but it wasn’t I asked the bartender about the flame he said “not today” so if not today when?? I didn’t like that.. now the food: appetizers were amazing good. The entree I ordered enchiladas were good and my boyfriend ordered carne asada and it was so salty he didn’t finish it. Dessert it was good.
Before 7/730 it had the most appreciated quiet ambiance and then after their was a dj so it had a little party vibe but the music was so great we found ourselves sitting just to hear the music. The huevos ranchos desert was excellent and the chicken dinner entree was excellent.
After reading a ton of negative reviews, the food was way better then I expected. We had the quesadilla rustica, the jalapeño relenos and the honey glazed ribs. Everything was delicious. In my opinion the drinks could have been better. They had several versions of margaritas to choose from (I tried 3) but they all just missed the mark. I’d recommend just sticking with beer. Our sever was knowledgeable and friendly. We ended with the Don Juevo and that was of course the highlight of the meal. Definitely worth going to experience it all at least once!
Fun place, decent Mexican food except for the Red Snapper (disappointing!).....cocktails were the highlight of the evening (the blood orange Paloma with paprika on the rim was my favorite!).....service was okay (3 different waiters!).....got overcharged on my tequila shot ($75!) but manager gave us a break on the bill....great for a girl’s night (lot of women there!)
Weekly Date night with the boyfriend and I chose this place since I hadn’t been. We were bumped from our seating because we were 30 minutes late, which is fine with us. No big deal! We sat at one of the booth tables near the bar, which was also fine with us. The table to seating ratio is way off, so we spent most of our meal leaning over. BF is an architect so he immediately noticed. Anyway, after ordering 2 apps and some drinks, we asked The hostess in the red skirt to waitlist us for an open table. Her attitude was condescending , so we just said ok and stayed where we were. We ordered the steak, some sides and also dessert. Our waitress was very nice, playful and attentive.
Probably won’t be back, but the food was good.
We walked into a hotel lobby first and then through the Bodega Cafe before we realized the actual restaurant was behind 2 large silver colored doors - not so easy to find unless you use another door from the street.
The restaurant was crowded and the ambiance not the best. It is a little dark with not much decor. The food was average - I had chicken which was tender and juicy but nothing special. I expected a lot more as we tried a mac n cheese dish that was noted as a special but ended up being watery and somewhat bland. I had flan for dessert which again was just good, not great. The one bright spot was a friendly and very attentive waiter.
Be aware that the area is crowded and it is difficult to find street parking even on a Wednesday night after 7 pm which is when we went. We ended up in a parking lot across the street from the restaurant and the cost was a whopping $65 for 2 hours!
Overall my experience was excellent. I am definitely going back in the future. Shelby our waitress was so sweet, she recommended alot of options which were phenomenal. I celebrated my birthday so I definitely got the Don Huevo desert which u would love :: it was so cute with my wishing n name on it and my candle to blow out to make my wish.
First night in NYC and staying around the corner ... wanted something with a cool vibe, energetic atmosphere and great food... perfect! MELBOURNE has amazing food and we can be pretty fussy - Bodega Negra delivered on all levels. Tunes were perfect , fab fitout - and every bite was delicious. We had soft shell crab tacos and lamb tacos which were our fav. The hot sauce selection was amazing and then followed with lobster and shrimp fajitas. Highly recommended by these two Aussies!
Restaurant week menu was great! Plates were well prepared and well presented and the service was excellent. Staff were well-versed in their menu and were helpful. Only thing was the churro sundae from the à la carte menu was too complicated with too many flavours. The Churro itself was delicious!
You are sure to have a fun night in a super cool clubby atmosphere. We were here on a Saturday night and the DJ was spinning great tunes creating a great atmosphere for everyone. The food was excellent and the melt away cake for my friend's birthday was awesome to see and eat!
