Bodega Canal brings elevated Mexican fare and flare to the TD Garden neighborhood.
Really nice vibe there! Loved sitting by the big open window and margarita pitchers were on point. Dance floor towards end of night was let down tho
The food was absolutely horrible. Do not go here for a good meal. The atmosphere was nice, so maybe if you’re just looking for a place to grab a drink. The nachos were horrible, tacos were horrible. We were with a group of 10 people and asked the server to split the check between FOUR cards, not 10 cards- FOUR. And one card did not work so she just put random amounts on the other three cards instead of coming, telling us about the malfunction and asking for another card. She did not communicate anything to us until dropping the cards back off and everything was already charged. It’s very irresponsible considering with a check of that amount (mind you ten people drinking and eating for a birthday), and putting random amounts on cards, not even just an even split amount, can really screw up someone’s account.
Drinks were fantastic. Wish they’d‘ve had the CBD drink thoh
The open windows/French door atmosphere really added to the experience.
My friend and I went on a Tuesday for Taco Tuesday’s. The restaurant interior and ambience was great. I had the fish and chicken tacos. The fish was great, the chicken was ok. They served free chips and salsa which was awesome. Would recommend the place.
Alright - I'm a bit conflicted here. Bodega Canal is super cute, vibrant, and has a pretty good menu (both for food and drink). However, the service and experience fell short in several key ways. THIS PLACE IS A NIGHT CLUB - not a trendy bar to grab inventive cocktails and chat. The lights were turned down and the music was turned WAY up halfway through dinner. There were truly 5 or 6 bouncers/security at the door and inside the bar as it started to fill up. The staff started removing tables and chairs to convert the dining room into dance floor. I wish this place sold itself less as a restaurant and more as a straight-up bar, because we would've picked somewhere else to go. To top it off, half of the items we read about online and hoped to order were no longer available (FYI - CBD Cocktail "Up In Smoke", still listed on the printed menus and website is no longer offered), and the michelada mussels were just not available that night. Not ordinarily a big deal, but with a relatively small food menu, one less item for a pescatarian is a bummer! We did have an issue with the bar sending out the wrong drink, and still keeping it on our tab despite the server telling us she'd take care of and replace it. On the other hand, the three of us all ordered and thoroughly enjoyed the fish, short rib, and carnitas tacos, as well as the shrimp appetizer. Fruity drinks were yummy, but I'd steer clear of the Oaxaca Old Fashioned though - lighter fluid!!
Go here for a party meal - not dinner.
Our group had a great time at Bodega Canal! We were there for a birthday, so went for a later dinner with the hopes of staying for drinks & dancing. Our waitress was great and super accommodating. We had a couple of the large format drinks and a bunch of tacos and apps, everything was perfect! The experience was exactly what we were looking for, would definitely reccomend for a birthday or celebration.
there was a mouse in the bathroom
The ambience is unique and cute so I was excited walking in. The chips and salsa are so cutely presented...well done! The food, though, was only fine and most served cold. The drinks were meh. Service was poor and the windows were all open despite it being 62 degrees out and not warm by anyone's standards.
Food was great. Unique restaurant experience. Lexi was a great waitress and provided excellent customer service.
Great time at Bodega! My only concern was the lack of vegetarian option but our server was very helpful!
Everything was good. Restaurant was super hot.
All you can eat tacos were not worth it.
The girls and I opted for lighter fare before the New Kids. It was packed with other concert goers, but that was expected. I hate high tops, they should be at the bar only so that started us on a ehh, kinda note. I’m pretty sure our waiter was high. He didn’t mess anything up, but he was super out to lunch, just odd. The drinks were ok and the food was good. Definitely glad I tried it out, but not sure if visit again.
Our waiter John was amazing! He was witty and we were very entertained by him.
beautiful place, cool drinks, delish food!!! cannot wait to go again!!!!!
JOHN, OUR AWESOME GINGER, MADE OUR NIGHT! THANKS AGAIN, BUDDY! CANADIAN GIRLS HEADING HOME NOW 😉
The fish tacos are very good as is the guacamole. The veggie quesadilla is more of a deluxe grilled cheese and the cheese has nice flavors. The grilled avocado tacos were missing flavor and greatly improved with salsa.
The noise level in the restaurant is very loud and the staff does not do the best job separating parties to avoid the already loud noise of the place. The waitstaff was super slow. Our waiter only came to check on us once and that was because he could not remember what we had initially ordered. I had to go up to the bar to have my glass refilled despite our waiter making the rounds at every table but ours.
In sum, the food was decent and the food and ambiance were not.
Glad that I could make a reservation even with the Stanley Cup playing.
Bruins game 7
I went to this restaurant on the night of the Bruins vs. Blues game. The restaurant was very loud (to be expected) but the food was great! The guacamole was some the best I have ever tried.
The food was great and the staff is friendly but it’s too loud for dinner. You can’t hear the person next to you. Also our servers kept disappearing to the point where we just went to the bar to pay our check.... or to get drinks... you didn’t even know who your server was because one person sat us, another served us, another took our orders, another took our drink order, another brought out food, another brought out our drinks. It was a little confusing
Bodega is a frequent after-work spot for me, so when I saw there was an open reservation on Saturday night for my boyfriend, I, and another couple to go out for a bite last minute I was super excited, especially since most spots were packed for the Bruins game that night.
After talking the spot up, it did not disappoint. We were pleasantly greeted by our server and each started with a margarita. I got the toasted coconut (my favorite), while the rest got the house. All were delicious, and after tasting mine, my friend ordered the same and her boyfriend switched to the cucumber jalapeño (also a fan favorite). For apps, we ordered the buttermilk fried shrimp and the empanadas. Let me start by saying the shrimp were UN. REAL. They were served with a tequila lime creama that complimented them perfectly, and we couldn’t eat them fast enough. The empanadas were good, but after the shrimp it was hard to get excited.
For our entrees we got the burrito, fish tacos, and chicken fajitas (not on the menu but they will happily make them for you!) Everything was delicious! The fish was fresh and flaky and you were given the perfect amount in the tacos. The burritos were HUGE! After the first half I could have gone for a serious nap, but it was so good I had to dive into the second half. The fajitas were fresh and tasty, and didn’t look or smell like the tacky sizzling fajitas you get at chain restaurants.
The only reason I’m not giving this review a full 5 stars is because at the end of our meal, our server completely disappeared. Not just ignored us- was no where to be seen. We definitely would have ordered at least another round and enjoyed what was left of the second period of the game, but we sat there with empty drinks for at least 20 minutes as the restaurant filled up with people who were there to party that night until my friend got up to grab another waitress who eventually cashed us out. No big deal- I know things happen- just a little damper!
Loved this place! Great atmosphere, delicious food and fun nightlife!
Sat in the corner upstairs which was nice. The food was pretty good but found a fly in our drink. Not the worst thing ever but definitely a factor
Good place to go before a Bruin’s or Celtics game. Not too crowded as it was a Monday night. Food was good. Drinks were just ok, a little on the small side for the price. Switched to beer after 1 mixed drink. Service was good too.
I was visiting my sister in Boston and we went to a place neither of us had been. We really enjoyed it especially since it was right outside of TD while the Celtics were playing!!
Great food, fun atmosphere, stellar margaritas. Great place to go before a Garden event or anytime! Te amo Bodega Canal
Below average food, drinks are good and the music is good. Too: eat before going!
This is a really beautifully decorated, fun spot to meet up for drinks. Ample chips and salsa right off the bat, lots of fun cocktails, and a very spacious location that seems to turn into a club vibe at night.
The service was very slow. The food was good. The drinks were not well mixed.
The decor was cute and inviting, but the food was sub par. Everything lacked flavor and what flavor it did have was nothing great. Unfortunately I would not go back.
Food came out cold and while we were spoken to and given a second set of food it was still cold. Not only was the food cold but it wasn’t even delicious. We got a complimentary dessert but that was barely touched because it was dry cake with some whipped cream and definitely not tres leches cake. Overall really not satisfying and the margaritas were good but not worth the exorbitant $11.
Server could have been more attentive, as there weren't that many people in the restaurant. Also, for the bottomless tacos option: I know everyone at our table would have been willing to pay a little more $ for expanded options. The deal is fantastic, and I'm surprised more people don't check it out. However, if there was a guacamole option for the deal, or a couple more flavors of salsa, I would pay like $15 for the bottomless tacos instead of $9 and it would be worth it.
Enjoyed the ambiance, drinks and food. Service was great.
Mexican food is my favorite and everything we had at Bodega Canal was delicious. Our party of four tried three different kinds of Margarita -- the coconut, Cadillac and the jalapeno and cucumber. All were delicious! It's more of a bar vibe than a restaurant, but the food and the service were all great. One person in our party had several food allergies and our server was very knowledgable about the ingredients in each dish and provided great guidance.
We went to this restaurant based on good reviews. My daughter was turning 10 and we went early with the family and grandparents. The restaurant was mostly empty. We were asked to change tables 4 times. The service was terrible and the food was cold and unappetizing. The queso was the worst I've ever had - grainy and not really queso. This place is terrible.
Went here for dinner before an event at TD Garden. Two hours before our reservation the hostess called to let us know our event had been canceled for the night and let us know about other nightly specials they had going on if we still wanted to come. We went for taco Tuesday and their DJ. We chose all the beef-less tacos, guacamole with chorizo, quest, chips & salsa, and the house margaritas. Everything was delicious, the fish taco and guacamole were our favorite. The margaritas were lovely. The service was very good and everyone was very friendly and felt bad that Fleetwood Mac had canceled last minute, so the DJ played a few songs for us. The restaurant is quite loud and dim, but I personally thought that added to a cool vibe in atmosphere. I was there for date night, but if you went with a big group it might be hard to hear everyone at your table.
We arrived early for our reservation and were sat right away. Our server was attentive and friendly. I had two delicious margaritas and jerk chicken tacos while my husband had the fish tacos (nice crunch on the fish!). It was pretty loud, even up in the balcony area, and almost a little too dark. Other than that, I would recommend and revisit!
First time there to celebrate my birthday with friends. Our server was so patient and pleasant! Definitely coming back. They also accommodated my last minute change, to add two more people to my reservation.
