On June 25th, 2007, Alessandro Peluso together with his friends and family, opened the doors of Bocca with a celebration and an evening of food and wine. This Roman restaurant has been bustling with patrons ever since. Our Chef James Corona is excited to offer a roster of creative Roman dishes to New Yorkers. Chef James uses only imported Italian DOP (protected designation of origin) products and is a proud supporter of the Union Square Green Market. Our meals are complimented by an extensive wine list, an elegant and cozy yet casual dining environment, and a friendly and courteous wait staff.

Bocca Ratings and Reviews
Sorry to say that a formerly-favorite restaurant disappointed badly. The food was OK, the service was OK, but unfortunately we forgot to leave a tip. The manager marched over and was rather snide. We apologized and proceeded to add a tip. My friend complained about his attitude, and he said he's been there for years or something. (I missed this exchange.) Apparently, his view is that the customer is no longer right. I have found this at other places
recently and it makes me very unhappy.
Bocca made my friends and me very unhappy and we won't be back. It was noisy, not energetic, by the way.
Very cozy! The pasta dish I got was tasty yet could have had more sauce and meat. The portion sizes were good yet could have been a little bigger. The manager surprised us with an aperitif which was nice. I would definitely go back and would recommend to others.
Great food and a lively atmosphere but deeply unhappy that they added 20% gratuity to the bill, and then presented credit card slip for signature with another 18% gratuity added. It took some time to sort this out, and while they claimed it was a mistake, it seems that their systems are set to add a gratuity to the bill for large groups (this is fine - standard practice) and their credit card machines are also set to automatically add a gratuity charge. Obviously, they should not do both, and I just hope other diners are wise enough to check the bill and the credit slip carefully...
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the food given the fact that it was significantly less expensive than Você, another Italian restaurant in the area. On top of that, Nico, (not sure about the spelling), the maitre d came over to our table several times to check on us.
This is one of my favorite restaurants but on this night, in particular, they were running a promotion on some imported Italian ham/Prosciutto Cotto. I found the ham to be distasteful and ultimately a killer to my favorite dish, one of the main reasons I frequent this place — their authentic cooking of the Pasta Carbonara (a special that night), which usually uses Pancetta or Prosciutto Crudo, which are vastly different cuts of ham. Needless to say, I was disappointed that my favorite dish was ruined by this awful Cotto ham that tasted like deli meat, and not fine Italian salted pork.
Took my girlfriend here for a birthday that we will never forget! Every plate that arrived on our table was wonderfully crafted! The veal meatballs were perfectly seasoned and cooked, the calamari and chorizo crostini was fantastic - I've honestly not eaten more tenderly cooked calamari from a place that does not even boast its seafood selections. The cheese wheel pasta is everything you've ever hoped for and the squid ink gnocchi with crab meat had me scraping my plate regardless of my full belly. Finally - the chocolate "molten" cake with pistachio Gelato was out of this world, though it is not a traditional molten cake, it is definitely a dessert of its own class.
Finally, the host was so gracious! He checked on us often and even gave us some free drinks for the occasion! Would definitely recommend a hundred times over.
Nothing can beat their cacio e pepe! Hard to justify paying $20 for noodles and cheese, but . . . a nice treat every now and again.
Their pasta was cooked al dente - to perfection and came out piping hot. Very liberal with their fresh grated cheese - yum!!!
Meatballs came in brown gravy - was expecting (and would have preferred) red tomato-base sauce. But added fresh grated cheese and enjoyed.
Super nice staff, but slow service - excused because place was BUSY! Manager was walking around the floor - stopping by tables to make sure diners were enjoying their experience.
Disappointed. Stopped coming here for a few years after seeing how the manager favors certain diners with free after dinner drinks. Tried again and same thing, saw manager bringing certain folks complimentary drinks- there was no special occasion like a birthday. I have never seen this in any other restaurant. Also, they said they would do a half order kids portion of pasta and sauce, but yet charged me $20 which was ridiculous. This place is never that full because not sure how many repeat diners. Do not plan to go back ever.
I always love dinner at Bocca. I took my mom and a dear family friend. We commented how Craft is right next door, but Bocca has better food and isn't as expensive! It couldn't be more true. We also love the staff, such great service with the true Italian flare. Always LOVE Bocca.. and the scallop special I had was D E L I C I O U S.
We went for my mother's birthday and had a great time! The staff explained the menu thoroughly for us and gave us great recommendations and we loved everything we ate! Their squid ink gnocchi were awesome as was the octopus appetizer! The restaurant looks quite unassuming from the outside but we ate great food at a reasonable price and left full! Can't complain!
The whole experience at the restaurant was amazing. The service to start was great, every dish was unique and delicious and clearly showed that the ingredients were carefully chosen to complement each other. Also very reasonably priced for the quality of food. Will definitely be back!
