This is one of my favorite restaurants but on this night, in particular, they were running a promotion on some imported Italian ham/Prosciutto Cotto. I found the ham to be distasteful and ultimately a killer to my favorite dish, one of the main reasons I frequent this place — their authentic cooking of the Pasta Carbonara (a special that night), which usually uses Pancetta or Prosciutto Crudo, which are vastly different cuts of ham. Needless to say, I was disappointed that my favorite dish was ruined by this awful Cotto ham that tasted like deli meat, and not fine Italian salted pork.
Whenever I come to New York I always stop at Bocca. Unmatched service with unreal food. 5 stars!
My friend enjoyed his steak. Great presentation! We both enjoyed the fresh mozzarella appetizer. However, the pappardelle al ragu d'agnello was not as good as it used to be. The warm chocolate cake was so rich and delicious!!
My girlfriend mentioned this place several times as her favorite place to go before going to see a play. We enjoyed it very much.
Took my girlfriend here for a birthday that we will never forget! Every plate that arrived on our table was wonderfully crafted! The veal meatballs were perfectly seasoned and cooked, the calamari and chorizo crostini was fantastic - I've honestly not eaten more tenderly cooked calamari from a place that does not even boast its seafood selections. The cheese wheel pasta is everything you've ever hoped for and the squid ink gnocchi with crab meat had me scraping my plate regardless of my full belly. Finally - the chocolate "molten" cake with pistachio Gelato was out of this world, though it is not a traditional molten cake, it is definitely a dessert of its own class.
Finally, the host was so gracious! He checked on us often and even gave us some free drinks for the occasion! Would definitely recommend a hundred times over.
Excellent quality food. Fantastic service and the best nduja I have had outside of Calabria. Highly recommend!
The food was delicious and service was very attentive. Although the portions were small
I loved the tabl
Super friendly waiter and amazing food. Also, shoutout to the bartender!
Food was great!
Excellent meal & great service!!
Beyond delicious!!! Ordered Black 75 as drink it was perfection. Split the veggies and crostini and had the cacio e pepe - to die for!
Excellent food and service
Food was creatively prepared and delicious. Waitress was very helpful and conscientious, and manager made sure that we were satisfied. Ambiance is lovely and very comfortable.
Nothing can beat their cacio e pepe! Hard to justify paying $20 for noodles and cheese, but . . . a nice treat every now and again.
Their pasta was cooked al dente - to perfection and came out piping hot. Very liberal with their fresh grated cheese - yum!!!
Meatballs came in brown gravy - was expecting (and would have preferred) red tomato-base sauce. But added fresh grated cheese and enjoyed.
Super nice staff, but slow service - excused because place was BUSY! Manager was walking around the floor - stopping by tables to make sure diners were enjoying their experience.
Really good food, priced fairly. Pleasant ambience and the manager and bartender were super nice.
Ice tea no free refills. $3 a pop. Food was good but not amazing.
The entire experience was perfect. The server was kind and helpful. The embiance was warm and inviting. The salmon was perfection, and how often can you say that about salmon! A real gem.
The restaurant was full, but we felt attended to by our waiter or the host if he wasn't available. Nice atmosphere the food was good and the cacio Pepe is a fun order is they mix it in a wheel of cheese at the table. The portions are healthy and good food.
Disappointed. Stopped coming here for a few years after seeing how the manager favors certain diners with free after dinner drinks. Tried again and same thing, saw manager bringing certain folks complimentary drinks- there was no special occasion like a birthday. I have never seen this in any other restaurant. Also, they said they would do a half order kids portion of pasta and sauce, but yet charged me $20 which was ridiculous. This place is never that full because not sure how many repeat diners. Do not plan to go back ever.
What was exceptional about this place was the service; they were super attentive. What disappointed me with the food. It wasn't what I was expecting. I felt that it was a bit overpriced as well. Overall I would give 3/5 stars.
I always love dinner at Bocca. I took my mom and a dear family friend. We commented how Craft is right next door, but Bocca has better food and isn't as expensive! It couldn't be more true. We also love the staff, such great service with the true Italian flare. Always LOVE Bocca.. and the scallop special I had was D E L I C I O U S.
We went for my mother's birthday and had a great time! The staff explained the menu thoroughly for us and gave us great recommendations and we loved everything we ate! Their squid ink gnocchi were awesome as was the octopus appetizer! The restaurant looks quite unassuming from the outside but we ate great food at a reasonable price and left full! Can't complain!
One of my favorite restaurants. Excellent service and a quiet and intimate setting. I always take out of town guests. Food is amazing.
The reviews we read gave us high expectations and those expectations were not food. Overall the food was bland and not special. It wasn't bad but it was not flavorful or memorable.
The whole experience at the restaurant was amazing. The service to start was great, every dish was unique and delicious and clearly showed that the ingredients were carefully chosen to complement each other. Also very reasonably priced for the quality of food. Will definitely be back!
Love dining at Bocca. A very special restaurant for us.
We went here because they had a Group on.
Food was great and the hostess and our waiter, Kevin, were welcoming and professional.
We would go back and also would recommend to others!
Very good Food
We tried this place during NYC Restaurant Week in July. Great food for a nice price. Easy to get to, clean, good service and excellent food. I really enjoyed the carpaccio di manzo, but t it was ALL good!
Very good meal with really great service. Wonderful homemade pasta with delicious accompanying flavors
Food is the best part of this place. Real classy Italian. The place itself is good but not as romantic as I hoped it would be!
It was not a bad environment but we were seated in a terrible spot even though the entire restaurant was empty. Very small location. Appetizers took 30 minutes to come out.
Nice intimate place. The food was good. A bit on the rich side, but nice
Been here many times for dinner, and until Sunday, I had NEVER had a bad meal here. This was the first time on a Sunday, and maybe the B-team was in the kitchen, but the meal was well below par. Few things seemed fresh, and nothing was exceptional.
This is really a special place for us. We are treated super special since the first time. Food is very tasty and they always changing their menu. Service is exceptional.
Fabulous find! Cady found the place through Instagram because of the pasta that is mixed in a wheel of mozzarella. That pasta is excellent but very peppery , meaning black pepper not spicy. The pasta was fresh, beautifully presented and tasty. Service was excellent. I would highly recommend.
The restaurant was a good spot. I enjoyed the food and found that the service was good. The waiters were mostly attentive of us. I thought the ambience was good. There was a sizable crowd for a Monday evening.
Always a nice meal when we eat there. Staff welcome you as family and service is attentive but not disruptive. A real gem!
Fantastic food elevated by even better service. Will be coming back every time I come to New York.
