About Bocca

On June 25th, 2007, Alessandro Peluso together with his friends and family, opened the doors of Bocca with a celebration and an evening of food and wine. This Roman restaurant has been bustling with patrons ever since. Our Chef James Corona is excited to offer a roster of creative Roman dishes to New Yorkers. Chef James uses only imported Italian DOP (protected designation of origin) products and is a proud supporter of the Union Square Green Market. Our meals are complimented by an extensive wine list, an elegant and cozy yet casual dining environment, and a friendly and courteous wait staff.

While the $9 lunch madness looks cool - Dinner was GREAT - started with the Formaggi E Salumi and the wonderful warm bread with the sundried tomato paste. David was very helpful and his cheese suggestions were right on the almonds and pear/fig jam were nice touches with the cheeses - I had the Seafood Pasta with Oil & Garlic sauce vs tomato and my dinner companion had GrandMa's sauce over Rigatoni - we both loved the garlic and taste of our pastas of course the freshly grated parmesan cheese only added to the experience and taste. I also had the wild mushrooms - Deserts were Tiramisu & the Warm Apple cake with cinnamon gelato

Went to to Bocca upon a recommendation from a friend. We were a party of four with two teenagers. Found it to be reasonably priced for NY, great service, nice selection of wine. Overall a great evening. Very attentive service as well.

First of all, I'll go back. There were a few issues though with service. It took awhile to get our wine - 10 to 12 minutes after we were seated and the restaurant wasn't that busy. Our server was knowledgeable about the wine and helped us choose one that we liked. The bread and dip were fabulous. I had the mesclun salad with pears and gorgonzola, my partner had the polenta with mushrooms, both were exquisite. Then we ordered dinner. The food came out quickly after ordering and tasted fantastic. I had the pepper and cheese pasta, the pepper was a tad overpowering so make sure you like black pepper. The pasta was done perfectly. My partner had the lamb ragu, it was very tasty. We ordered a digestive, coffee and dessert.

Found this gem while looking on Zagat for an Italian restaurant that was on Open Table. The quality of the food and the passion the staff had for serving it were both top-notch--and a strong value. The veal meatballs melt in your mouth, the pastas and sauces are fresh and hearty, and the wine list was great. Of special note was the attentiveness of the server and her manager (maybe the owner?). He took extra time to guide our menu selections, even suggesting we have the chef make something not on the menu. Then he helped pick the perfect wines to match. It was truly a memorable evening and we would seek Bocca out again when in NYC.

Intimate atmosphere, delicious food, reasonable prices, and outstanding service have made this my new favorite Italian the Flatiron district. The maitre'd is charming and helpful, as are the rest of the staff. The ambiance can feel romantic or simply cozy. The pastas are rich and delicious. I'll be back to sample the rest of the entrees in the coming months!

Bocca was perfect for a sweet Valentine's Day dinner with your sweetheart. The special Valentine's menu offered a great choice of a three course meals at an outstanding price for the superb quality of the food. This was the first time I've ever been and I would definitely go back for that special occasion or a nice dinner with great wine and friendly staff. I had zero complaints about the entire experience. Me and my sugar plum enjoyed it very much!

When we walked into Bocca we were the only customers. By the time we left, it was filled with lively folks who seemed to be enjoying themselves. Even the bar was filled with diners. The fresh made pastas were enticing -- we chose a fusili with sausage in a cream sauce and were not disappointed. We then shared a roasted Branzini with vegetables -- delicious! The service was attentive but not overbearing. Enjoyable all around.

I dont usually write reviews however, I feel I needed tell people about this place. I have been to Bocca on two occasions. Each time was better then the last. The food and drinks are unique and tasty! Great friendly chef and the service was first class. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. I know if no major changes happen to this place, I will come back and recommend it to others.

Bocca is a small intimate place. Front of house and service staff were warm and welcoming. Northern Italian cuisine was perfectly prepared. Rigatoni bolognese, and shrimp with spaetzel in a lobster cream sauce were outstanding. Prices were very reasonable. Bocca is off the beaten path, but well worth the journey.

Although the food was excellent, I felt that the service was rushed--like there was a time limit on table seating. The waitstaff hovered and constantly asked whether we were finished with our food. Since it's a small restaurant--really tight--I suppose they have to turnover tables fairly quickly.

This place has amazing food and the service is impeccable. We went for restaurant week where the menu had a nice variety of choices and the portions were generous. I highly recommend the veal meatballs and the tuscan bean soup if you are looking for something to warm you up. The pappardelle lamb ragu pasta is absolutely to die for. The pasta is light and airy, while the lamb is moist and succulent. To wash it down, you must try the Basil Gimlet.

I loved every minute of my time at Bocca. The food was absolutely AMAZING!!!! My favorite was the appetizer. I never would have thought I'd eat "ravioli" made from beets. Genius! I will definitely be back.

Food and service was very god despite some of the reviews. I came here to use my open table $50 for $25 deal and was very happy with everything. The cheese appetizer plate was wonderful and the waitress was able to help us decide on a good selection. The wine list was nicely put together and true to the Italian cuisine. I ordered the seafood pasta dish and was very pleasantly surprise with the amount and size of the muscles, prawns, and crab meat I recieved. The sauce was also delicious. My bf got the gnoochi which had great flavor. The only negative thing about the restaurant was the level of noise. The place is very small and we were sitting inbetween two large groups which caused a lot of problems being able to hear across the table.

My overall experience was great, service was vey attentive. Unfortunately the meal was only ruined by the noise level which was not suitable for any form of conversation unless you were yelling at the top of your lungs. It could also be that the tables were so close to each other you could not help but hear the person next to you who had the most unfortunate voice ( you know who you are )

Went for Winter 2011 Restaurant Week and thought it was solid overall. The beet "ravioli" was very good and definitely not what we expected when ordering. The veal meatballs were tender, but were accompanied by too much sauce. Overall, was a good meal for the Restaurant Week price and I'd go back to try the regular menu.

We went during Restaurant Week and between the four of us managed to try almost everything on that menu. The food was very good, all courses. The veal meatballs stood out as excellent as did the salmon with spaghetti squash and apple cider foam. The portions were good sized (not half portions as often happens at Restaurant Week) and the service was wonderful. My only criticism is that because of the hardwood decor, the noise level was a bit loud.
