Food is overpriced and the music is too loud.

Great food, the sirloin & the lamb shank both a big hit! Music was funky but unobtrusive and didn’t interfere with chatting. We had a late post theatre dinner and it was only a short walk from our theatre on broadway. Loved it! Xx

The hostess on Saturday night (4/14) was very rude and incompetent. She gave our table away (despite us being on time and making a reservation on open table ahead of time) to another party which showed up after us (and was the same size). When we asked her what happened to our table (20 minutes after our reserved time), she simply said that she had seen us waiting outside (since there was no space to stand in the restaurant) but gave it to the other party. I have eaten here before and enjoyed the food, but the service has always been mediocre (waiters forget about us, wrong food comes out, etc.). This was just the icing on the cake. I will no longer be eating in - only take out from Bocca di Bacco for me until they address some of these issues.

I dined here with two of my friends on a Saturday night. We made an earlier reservation (7pm) and when we arrived, the restaurant was absolutely packed and there was about a 25min wait on tables. A good sign! Once seated, our waiter was very friendly and attentive, and we ordered a serving of the calamari to share, and a pasta dish each, along with a bottle of Veuve (great special on the bubbles!). The calamari was delicious, and the servings of pasta were very generous - we all love to eat, and not one of us could finish their main. I had the cavatelli, which honestly, was a bit bland itself, and the sauce tasted overpoweringly of porcini mushrooms. I've had better, but it still hit the spot. Both my friends also enjoyed their choices (spaghetti and gnocchi). Unfortunately, we didn't have room for dessert, but I'm happy to have an excuse to go back :) Not a bad dining choice at all for anyone who happens to be in the area.
Perhaps the only downside, the restaurant was extremely noisy - it wasn't easy at all to hold a conversation across the table.

Authentic Italian cuisine in a cozy setting. The noise level was quite high and the space is small but the delicious food made up for it. Highly recommend the mushroom bruschetta and the Gnocchi ala Sorrentino. Waiters were very attentive but not intrusive. Great little spot.

Pro's: showed up 45 minutes early for our reservation, but thankfully we were able to be seated right away and didn't have to wait till our reserved time; appetizers, entrees, and desserts were very good.

Con's: my water glass smelled like fish (guessing from the dishwasher the glass was washed in?); the noise level is AWFUL - my party and I were practically yelling at each other. It was so bad that when we left the restaurant, the street actually seemed quiet (which for any New Yorker knows is never quiet); our server forgot my request for a refill on my drink, and by the time he made his way back to our table, I was done eating my food so I didn't bother to remind him.

Overall - the Theater district location on 9th and 45th was much better. The noise level was also high there, but not as bad as this location in Hell's Kitchen. The service there was better too. I don't think we'll return to this location (Hell's Kitchen).

Only real complaint was dim lighting, making it harder to read the menu and dissect my lobster. Otherwise, it was delicious and I would go again.

Bocca's food was good but it was so noisy we ordered fast, ate fast and didn't stay for dessert since it was so loud. Friendly patrons though, if you could hear them!

Food and service very good. Crowded with a high noise level on a Saturday evening. 7:00 pm reservation. Seated within minutes. Server very attentive in spite of a full House and close tables. Will try again earlier on a week day evening.

Food and service was very good. I had the mushroom risotto which was a special that day and it was delicious. My husband had the black squid ink pasta with mussels, clams, shrimp and lobster. It was also a special and delicious. Recommend the mushroom bruschetta with fontina cheese and truffle oil for appetizer. Overall, a great meal and pleasant ambiance.

We flew from London to New York to and on our first night chose Bocca di Bacco to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious and the service excellent. I was delighted to be presented with a delicious dessert complete with birthday candle at the end of our meal! It was a very special evening indeed!

Manhattan's Ninth Ave in the W 30s, 40s and 50s is lined w small restaurants on both sides of the street from burger and pizza joints to exotic cuisines. Bocca di Bacco is one of the better ones: Generous portions of tasty food from a varied menu are reasonably priced; wines by the glass start around $10 (in NYC!); and the setting is an attractive, comfortable rustic storefront. Waitstaff know what they're doing, and even the bartenders welcome you as you pass the bar to be seated in the dining area. Better than most in every regard.

The brunch food was terrible. We ordered the French toast, steak sandwich and steak and eggs and they were just bad. No taste, chewy meat and uncooked French toast.

I love the food and service at Bocca di Bacco. However, it is pretty noisy because of the music. So I don't recommend it for quiet dinners.

Absolutely wonderful find. We had a large party and were easily accommodated. Brought a bottle of wine and they were happy to open it for us. The hostess and staff were upbeat and friendly. Scott was a terrific server and gave thoughtful attention to our table. Great personality and possibly one of the best waiters I've met in NYC. We had the best evenings thanks to the good food but even more importantly, great staff.

Fabulous restaurant. Cozy ambiance. Impeccable service. Among our party, we ordered the halibut special, the seafood pasta special, the fusili with sausage and Vodka sauce and penned with Vodka sauce. Everything was delicious! Price was as expected. We will definitely return the next time we are in town!

The filet special was amazing. Our waiter was very attentive and humorous. All our meals were good. The chef even made a dish, not on the menu for a picky eater. We will be back!

I use to go here one or twice a month. When some friend visits me I always take him here. Food is amazing. I really like tortellini with spinach and ricotta! The wine menu is huge and good selection.

Scored a last minute reservation here on Open Table while visiting NYC with family, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The Caesar salad was as good as a Caesar salad gets (though we prefer our anchovies mixed into the dressing rather than served in chunks on top), but the real star of our meal was the spinach tortellini (one of the nightly specials). We found the service excellent and the food delicious, but were a bit disappointed when we were charged $12 for a child's serving of spaghetti noodles with butter and $14 for a child's serving of spaghetti with meat sauce. Overall, we would definitely visit again and recommend for anyone visiting the theatre district in NY!

Very good pastas, warm staff and nice restaurant but we did not like to see a 20%-gratuity added to the bill. Plus the staff did not give back the 1,50$ change to us. This was not a big deal in itself but it’s a question of principle... (as we already paid 20% gratuity)

We would rather have added the gratuity ourselves. This made us leave with a bitter feeling... Too bad because food and service were very good.

The octopus appetizer was good, not rubbery at all. However a little soft. We order 2 drinks if the menu $15 each. Good alcohol content but taste was not to out liking. One was the mojito and the other was the Hennessy. For entrees. Squid ink pasta very tasty and a little spicy. Surprisingly I think they put the spice in that dish since I ordered the spaghetti with seafood and spicy sauce. Which was not spicy at all. Tight quarters inside restaurant with tables very close together. Most importantly it was very dim at our table. Hard to see menu and what you are eating

Food was prepared exceptionally well and with generous portions. I felt that we had a table in Italy with the surrounding ambiance and authentic accent of the waiter. Lots of choices if you like land, sea or vegetarian choices. We are both gluten-free and they were accommodating.
Definitely recommend.

Bocca di Bacco was a huge disappointment. It was impossible to carry on a conversation due to loud, obnoxious music. When we asked them to turn it down, they did so, but the heavy drum beat was still painfully loud. If you like a noisy bar atmosphere with no conversation, this is the place for you. Don't go if you're interested in food in a calm setting.
